Cozy living room with fireplace. Relax in the living room before a sparkling fire, surrounded by warm pine paneling with cedar trim. We supply local seasoned hand split hardwood, kindling, newspaper and fire lighter.
Fully equipped kitchen. Prepare your family meals in our well stocked kitchen. We include flatware and china, wine glasses, coffee maker and filters.

Outdoor fire ring. In the evening, start a fire in the fire pit by the barn and roast marshmallows. Star gaze from the big field next to the cabin, where the Milky Way shines across the sky.
Immerse yourself in nature. Your children will be intrigued to stay in a cabin surrounded by woods. Stroll over to the log barn where you enjoy a spectacular view of the Appalachian foothills in the distance. Walk up our woodland path to the cave. Bring a flashlight to explore the cave.
About Adams County:
Adams County is one of the most beautifully scenic counties in Ohio. The Great Serpent Mound is the largest effigy mound in the country. The Amish community offers shops and tidy well kept farms. The southern boundary is the Ohio River, with gorgeous views, fishing and boating. Nature Conservancy’s Edge of Appalachia Preserve and numerous state natural areas showcase the county’s unique features.
Visit the Great Serpent Mound and its visitor center. Check out the Wheat Ridge Amish community shops and well kept farms. Travel the Quilt Barn Trail and see the rural countryside by car. Follow the ride of Confederate John Hunt Morgan and his Raiders through Adams County in 1863.
In neighboring Brown County, visit the boyhood home of US Grant in Georgetown; see where Liza reportedly crossed the Ohio River on the ice in Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Visit the Rankin House above the Ripley bluff, where lanterns hung to guide slaves escaping across the river from Kentucky.
Hike in one of the many nature preserves and natural areas in Adams County. Our favorites include Chaparral Prairie (a remnant prairie a mile away). Buzzardsroost Trail (a moderately strenuous hike in the Edge of Appalachia Preserve) and Davis Memorial Nature Preserve (features a pristine stream, high rock cliffs and a geologic fault in the cliff face).
Enjoy birding on our farm or in the nature preserves.
Fish our pond (catch and release only), the ponds in Tranquility Natural Area, Adams Lake State Park, Ohio Brush Creek or the Ohio River.
Have dinner at Murphin Ridge Inn or Moyer Winery. Murphin Ridge is an excellent restaurant in an old farm house near the Amish community. Moyer offers fine food in a dining room overlooking the Ohio River.
I am a retired lawyer turned first carpenter then innkeeper. We bought the Round House in 2003 when it was framed in and roofed, but had no exterior or interior finish. I finished the house with expert help with the electricity, plumbing and drywall. I am an amateur naturalist and enjoy botanizing and bird watching. We have been coming to Adams County since the 1970's and have always enjoyed its natural beauty and unusual natural features. I now spend my time managing the Round House and our other cabins, the Dodge Cabin and the Log Cabin, while maintaining the fields on the farm. Dogs are welcome at all our cabins.
George Carr purchased this cabin in 2003
We have owned a farm in Adams County for 20 years. This property, which adjoins our original farm, came on the market in 2002, and we bought it in early 2003. I spend 5 years finishing it, and started to rent it in Fall 2008. We like this location because it is rural and filled with natural beauty and wildlife. It is close to Cincinnati, where we live.
If you like peace and quiet this is the place for you. We have a number of families who spend holidays here, enjoying the cozy atmosphere and the woods, fields and cave. Our guests like to visit the Serpent Mound and spend time in the shops of the Amish community. Many come for the State Nature Preserves and the Nature Conservancy's Edge of Appalachia Preserve. In the Fall, many of our guests are deer hunters looking for one of the big bucks that have been taken out of Adams County.
"Thank you for 'the lodge'. Warm, Homey, Comfortable. Fantastic details inside and out. Great place to relax, sit on the porch and deck, have a walk, wake up to sunlight everywhere and fall asleep to the flash of fireflies. Love that this has your hands on everything. It shows. We'd love to come back again."

A beautiful and very thoughtfully-appointed cabin in a part of Ohio that doesn't get enough attention for its scenic beauty. While we enjoyed day trips to Miller's Bakery and the Serpent Mound and to West Union (where we ate hot dogs at The Panhandler!) and Manchester, we could have spent the long weekend in and around the Round House, playing games, walking the trails, and just enjoying the serenity and isolation.
Stayed at Round House with family.... Accommodations were extremely clean and well kept, and afforded us Outdoor adventures with comfort! Cool house - kids loved it
This was exactly what we were looking for! This house is clean and has lots of room. We were very pleased with all the amenities. We sat outside on the deck all evening and were not bothered by the typical insects you would expect in the middle of the woods.
There is a trail that leads to a cave, but sadly we did not have time to explore.
We would absolutely recommend this property if you are looking for unique secluded getaway.
Absolutely beautiful and unique cabin nestled in the middle of the woods. We had rain all weekend, but despite that we still had a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing time. Highly recommend this place for a romantic getaway or a family trip.
We found the Round House from the race website we were using. The pictures are so accurate. The house is beautiful and looks just like the photos on the website. Spotlessly clean, well stocked with linens, kitchen and bath supplies. We loved being able to enjoy the grill and deck and on the day we had rain, the six of us lounged around the house. It is in the woods, was peacefull and very quiet. The owners even checked on our stay. I would definitely stay again if in the area.
Our family of four found the Round House on a web search. While we were hoping that we would find it as impressive as the website claimed, we did not expect as much. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised that all was exactly 'as advertised'--a very clean, well-stocked cabin with a beautiful, peaceful location. We could not have asked for anything more. Our two children (11 and 12) absolutely loved it, as well as our dog. Plenty to explore, but also a great place to just relax. We will definitely be back!
A thriving community of Amish is just around the corner. Enjoy great bakery goods, visit the saddle shop and purchase a new belt or bag, watch out for horse-drawn buggies and wave to everyone, it's friendly territory here.
