Overview

About the property

Secluded rural cottage with enclosed garden surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Ville Conan carefully modernised in 2002 combining rustic charm with high quality modern facilities.

The Villa is the end section of an 18th Century Nunnery (now empty) situated just three miles from the medieval town of Josselin. It’s has its own small enclosed garden area at the back which is not overlooked & has plenty of parking on the long driveway. The villa comprises a useful porch which leads into the open-plan kitchen dining area and lounge with exposed beams and rustic solid wood floors. The brand new kitchen for 2012 has new units, cooker and sink. The dining table is small but takes four adults. The house bathroom is accessed from this floor with full suite & shower over the bath. Downstairs is a large double bedroom and a further single bed in a separate alcove. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with en-suite including a small bath with shower over – there is also a large walk-in cupboard.

Ville Conan is situated at the end of a long driveway where there is only one other house. The other house is Ville Papillon and is available to rent for upto 7 people. There are no other houses nearby and each house has it's own private garden.

Everything you need for a relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our time at Ville Conan and in Josselin and the surrounding area.

The cottage has everything you need and is located just outside the beautiful village of Guegon.

We would thoroughly recommend this to anyone.

Lovely venue and lovely service

  • 5 of 5

The house is perfect for a visit to this area of France, Josselin is just down the road with the Brest to Nantes canal. Access to the walks, bike rides and fun boats is great. Even with inclement weather we had a lovely stay. The directions from the owner are clear and procise and the local management is incredibly helpful. Thank for letting us enjoy are our stay to the full.

Family Holiday

  • 4 of 5

On completion of our booking the level of communication with Kathy was excellent, this provided all of the information we needed for our holiday preparations.

The property was easy to find and very much as described in its advertising. The home was clean, very well appointed with everything we could possibly need for our fortnight. A "welcome basket" was waiting for us on our arrival and this would provide the necessary essentials until our first shop, it was particularly well stocked and a very thoughtful idea.

Furniture and appliances throughout the property are typical of a holiday home and of an acceptable standard, however the owners should consider changing the washing machine and television as they are on the cusp of failure. However these are minor issues that did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the property.

However we did find that the upstairs bedroom became unacceptably hot during several days of our holiday, making sleep difficult. A fan was kindly provided but this did not go far enough to improve the situation. We would recommend repairing the insect screens so that Windows could be left open and the provision of further fans etc.

Karen the housekeeper is superb, offering advice and guidance on the area etc and nothing was too much trouble for her. She clearly works hard to ensure standards are maintained.

In essence we would not hesitate to recommend this holiday home, it is in a beautiful area with plenty of things to see and do. A wonderful experience that we hope to repeat in the future.

Nice Gite

  • 4 of 5

Nice well equipped gite, well placed for exploring the south coast. Secluded back garden not overlooked, the only neighbour being across the courtyard at the front. I'd have no hesitation in recommending it for couples.

Excellent accommodation.

  • 4 of 5

What a delightful cottage. We had a wonderful five night stay. The weather was exceptional. We would return from our sightseeing trips most days to laze in the lovely garden and enjoy a BBQ. We have never stayed in such a well stocked cottage. Everything we needed was to hand and the welcome pack was very generous and appreciated having arrived on a Sunday evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay after spending a few days prior to our arrival in Paris. We have no complaints about the cottage and it was a lovely touch to receive a welcome letter from the lady who looks after the cottage and to meet her before our departure. There was plenty of information in the cottage about things to do and places to visit which were very helpful. We visited lots of great places, our favourites being Josselin, Rochefort-en-Terre and Vannes.

Ville Conan is 1.5 miles from the lovely village of Guegon with a bakery, bar, restaurant & small super market.

The medieval town of Josselin famous for it's magnificent chateau on the banks of the river Oust (connected to the Nantes-Brest canal) is just 3 miles away. Josselin has large supermarkets and also within the town there are several shops, restaurants, bars & cafes. The river Oust is a great place to hire a boat or canoe, or have a stroll or bike ride along the towpaths.

The town of Ploermel with it's lake (Lac Du Duc) is only 8 miles away where there is a sandy beach, water slides and a restaurant. A wide range of sports are available both on & off the lake e.g. Tennis, volley ball, sailing, water skiing, golf etc. Only 45 minutes drive south is the Golfe de Morbihan, with a vast bay, many islands, sandy beaches & rocky inlets popular for sailing & cruising.

1.5 hours drive to the north will reach: the Cotes d'Armor, Dinard Airport & the walled city of St Malo.

Other Activities: Canoeing
