Relaxing rural Umbria
We had a great two weeks at this property at the end of August and the holiday was everything we wanted it to be.
The house, which is surrounded by wonderful countryside, is what you would expect of a medieval property (full of character and quirks) and has everything you would need. However we did most of our living outside, both around the large swimming pool and sitting on the terrace – the latter is perfect for long lunches and relaxed evening meals and makes for a brilliant spot to while away time simply staring at the amazing views. There are many walks that can be done from the house and the local village (5 mins drive, 25 mins walk (hills involved)) has a great bakery, a quality greengrocers, a small Spar supermarket, ATM and a Bar/café. Be sure to try the small pizza restaurant / takeaway as well!
Further afield it is an ideal base for exploring the many attractions that this part of Umbria has to offer, although it can seem very hard to get past Spello (10 mins in car) as this little town is beautiful both in the daytime and especially at night and has a great selection of restaurants and shops.
The hosts, Sue and Frank (who live next door) were so friendly and welcoming and were very kind to our two young children. They have this amazing knack of never being around and yet always being on hand should anything be needed… this is quite a skill and was very welcome as we like the feeling of privacy on our holidays (which we got) yet we benefitted enormously from the local knowledge, hints and tips they were able to provide when asked. The plates of fresh grapes and figs from the garden that regularly appeared on our doorstep were also a very welcome treat!
Thank you-we are pleased you had a good time.
Relaxing anderen scenic
The property is in good condition, there is enough space to host at least 5 people in two proper bedrooms. Kitchen, washing machine, everything is well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay especially because of the amazing pool which made the trip to Italy in the hot season very comfortable.
Thank you we are really pleased you all enjoyed your stay. We hope you can come back again
Oasis in Assisi
We are two retired couples who love travelling and enjoy staying in properties that are slightly off the beaten track, our stay was 2nd July to 11th July 2018. Sue and Frank's house is a very interesting medieval property full of the quirky features that you would expect from a house with so much history, the kitchen has everything you would need to cook a banquet , the upstairs lounge has comfortable furniture and tv for relaxing in the evening and there is an extensive library. We spent very little time indoors as the weather was beautiful the whole time we were there, a middle terrace is complete with swinging seat, table and chairs and BBQ, great for lunch, dinner and early evening drinks. The real 'jewel in the crown' is the beautiful swimming pool on the lower terrace set in a lovely garden , there were plenty of sun chairs available so you could read, sunbathe or just relax. Sue and Frank were very helpful and a font of knowledge on the surrounding area and places of interest to visit, nothing was too much trouble for them - thank you. We had a wonderful time.
Thank you for the fantastic review.!
You were great guests - it is a real pleasure for us to host guests that appreciate the character and history of our house and enjoy the garden and pool.
We hope you return one day.
Thank you for choosing our house.
Defintively *5 stars* Lovely House with pool
Great location in the heart of Umbria, close to Assisi. You can either relax at the gorgeous pool or tour the uncountable little old towns in the surrounding apennin mountains.
The house has everything you need, kitchen two bedrooms and two baths on two floors.
Shopping and eating (agriturismo and pizzeria) in 5 to 10 minutes driving distance.
A big supermarket is located in Spello, about 10 minutes away.
Our hosts Sue and Frank were great. Always there when we needed them.
We will definitely try to return because it turned out to be one of our most relaxing vacations.
Thank you ! We are so pleased when our guests enjoy our house and the area as we do. We hope you return soon

The place to be
It must have been around this time last year that I started searching frantically for a house in Umbria after having received notification that the house we had already booked via a travel agency would not be available due to problems with the pool. As the agency couldn't offer any corresponding accomodation I decided to turn to the Internet- Frustration turned into delight when I came upon this house ...and stayed with us throughout our stay. It is a typical medieval Umbrian house situated in one of these tiny old hamlets nestled on a mountain slope. Standing in front of the entrance you ask yourself where the garden & pool might be hidden - well, hidden is the right word: you can enjoy complete privacy alongside a magnificent spacious pool that doesn't disturb the scenery in any way. From the part of the garden where the dining table is situated you have a breathtaking view. We usually love eating out - but not this time as we simply COULD'NT MISS the sunset: a magnificent spectacle every time - yet always surprisingly different from the day before.
The house itself is much more roomy than it pretends to be from the outside ( we rented the whole house, by the way, and there were 5 of us) and it has been restored in a loving manner, paying attention to tiny details (you can, e.g.,watch a bird's nest in the wall from inside the house!).It offers quite everything - from a pleasant library to ANY kitchen utensil you could possibly wish for (you could even bake your own bread if you wish to). However, I must confess, we didn't spend a lot of time inside as we simply couln't tear ourselves away from the garden with all its roses and flowers.
Apart from the lovely accomodation you will always get any help you need from Sue, who looks after the garden each and every morning - which explains why it is so charming.
Situated right between Spello and Assisi it is obviously a great starting point for any excursion in this area.
As for doing your shopping: there is a delicious bakery, a very nice greengrocer's and a supermarket right down the hill (I would, however, advise you to take the car all the same, as it is quite steep and therefore really exhausting). There is also a good pizzaria not far away (we never ate there but took the pizzas home)
Well, we were completely content and the only reason we were not sad to leave was that we made sure to book the house for 2011 once more.
I would recommend the house to anyone who loves quiet, relaxing holidays.
Thank you for your kind comments, we are so glad you enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you all again in summer 2011.
