Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4 adults and 2 children)
We have had a love affair with Sonoma for years and are happy to call it home, every now and again anyway. We picked Birch Rd. to build our family getaway and want to share it with you. We took a the wonderful shell of an old 1940's cottage and gave it a facelift to create the most relaxing, comfortable retreat you can imagine. Our modern Sonoma cottage is fully renovated with high-end finishes and decorated with style. Whether you want to bike ride around the gorgeous countryside (bikes provided and many wineries within biking distance), walk to Sonoma Plaza for shopping/dining or lounge by the pool all day and dine al fresca, this cottage is for you.
We have also thought of every detail, especially if you want to bring your kids along. We have a gorgeous pool (with automatic cover that holds the weight of a truck, so no safety issues), custom, modern wooden play set, bikes, toys and portable crib/other items for babies. Our cottage also includes built in bunk beds for 2 kids age 12 and under.
Our cottage is perfect for your Sonoma get together, with a large outdoor dining table and pool lounge chairs for your friends.
The cottage boasts a brand new custom kitchen, new stainless appliances and an indoor dining area. Each of the bedrooms includes a Queen size bed.
In addition, we have a brand new gas fire pit for enjoying your last glass of Cab in the evening, under the cafe lights.
The bathroom is stylishly renovated with a deep soaking tub and bluetooth speaker that seamlessly connects to your phone & music.

Excellent Cottage rental!
We absolutely LOVED our stay! Comfortable, clean and modern!!!! Very home like! The cottage is very close to the Sonoma square. The cottage is stocked with everything you need! The bed and linens were very comfortable! We will definitely book again! The only suggestion is to provide a coffee pot. Thank you!!!!
Kristina, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. I really appreciate it. I'm so pleased you had a great time, the cottage is a really special place for us. And I'm delighted that you found the cottage well stocked, we''ll definitely add a coffee pot - thank you for the suggestion.
Kid-friendly & rural-feeling
- House included numerous kid-focused amenities, such as kid biking stuff, a high chair, toys, etc.
- Over the backyard fence there was a bunch of goats, horses, chickens, turkeys, and even a llama! Neat!
- House felt very remote (unpaved road, llamas) but was very close to the main square in downtown Sonoma.
- Outdoor space includes fire pit, pool, grill, and bikes (see notes below).
- Checkin/out process was smooth.
- The decor was modern and tasteful.
- Grill did not work. The burners would ignite, and the gas tanks we tried were all full, but the flames would not get big enough to cook with.
- Only 3 bikes provided (not 4 as listed). It surely sounds ungrateful to complain about "only" having 3 bikes freely available, but the listing mentioned 4 bikes, and as 4 adults traveling together (with a toddler), this meant that we had to rent a bike on several days.
- Pool would not heat. It takes a special kind of person to want to swim in a 62 degree pool. When we tried to heat the pool to 80 degrees, the system malfunctioned and started displaying errors. In our contact with the host before arriving, she mentioned that the pool would be heated for our stay, so this was disappointing. (We didn't follow up because the weather got colder, and we decided not to use the pool.)
- The kitchen equipment was a bit sparse -- for instance, no measuring spoons or sharp knives, and scant olive oil.
My family travels to Sonoma about once a year. This was a good-not-great trip, primarily because the weather was poor during most of our weeklong trip. The faulty grill and pool, and the fact that fewer bikes were provided than what was listed, made it difficult to give this listing a rave review.
But these shortcomings were largely offset by the fact that this house was so well equipped for small children. That made our stay with my 18-month-old enjoyable.
Thanks for opening your space to us!
I'm so pleased you enjoyed the cottage. We've worked really hard to make it as family friendly as possible so I'm glad those amenities helped make your stay enjoyable.
I'm sorry you had issues with the grill and pool heater. We haven't had any problems reported from other guests but we did check them both out and didn't have any problems. I do wish you'd contacted us during your stay so that we could help trouble shoot, we're here to help and we really don't mind being asked.
Thank you also for reminding us about the bikes and the kitchen. We've made a few updates and have added 2 new Public cruiser bikes, to make a total of 5 adult bikes. We've also added more cooking utensils and new knives as well as additional glass and serve ware.
Thank you for the positive feedback. We look forward to the opportunity to host you again in the future.
Great cottage for a Girls Weekend!
We had a wonderful stay at this Sonoma cottage. It was just a short drive to Sonoma Square and area wineries and we walked to the Square for breakfast one day (about 30 min). The cottage is decorated cute and we loved the porch and firepit! Jill's suggestions for restaurants were perfect!
Great place and perfect location
Great cottage and great location.Jill was a great host very responsive with questions cottage well equipped you must stay here if you are in sonoma
Great little cottage in Sonoma
Clean, well done and very kid friendly setup. The backyard is perfect for relaxing with the heated pool, fire pit, grill and dining table. It's walkable to a few different restaurants, convenience stores and Train Town. A longer walk (30 mins) to Sonoma Square but easy to uber around and $25 to get to Napa.
It does sit on a little lane that when it rains gets puddles and is muddy, so just be prepared, but you can hear the roosters when you walk around in the morning.
And finally, Jill has been attentive and helpful in every way. We would certainly come back.
Awesome home, kitchen, pool - pictures are spot on! A+
We stayed for four nights in September and loved the home. Cool little place that felt bigger and had so many cool features. We had a bunch of places we wanted to see but enjoyed the home so much that we found ourselves rushing back home to chill. Not really walkable to the square but only a couple minute drive. Awesome backyard, pool and kitchen that we didn't want to leave anyway. Close to great restaurants, tasting rooms , great A/C, fast wifi, amazon firestick and very clean. Would stay again in a minute. Traveled with wife and six month old baby and they had some baby stuff. Good time. Very nice owner.
