I am a carpenter and a young man from the area, I rebuilt this house with help from my father in 2012. I have been around the world and the rugged, pristine coastline of Nova Scotias South Shore is a truly special place. Summer rentals allow me to pay the mortgage and I am happy to share my slice of paradise.
Matthias MacLellan purchased this cottage in 2011
I choose to buy this property because of the spectacular location and having the skillset and energy to turn it into something beautiful. I am a wooden boat owner and sailing enthusiast and hope to still be in this house as an old man.
If an outstanding view, the smell of sea air, eagles soaring overhead, abundant wildlife, comfortable accommodations with plenty of room and extra parking and a village close by are what you want from your Nova Scotia vacation, this is the place to be! I loved every minute of my stay here, leaving with regret that I didn't stay longer! Can't wait to return!
My family and I travelled to the Halifax area for my niece's graduation. We wanted to make it a relaxing family vacation at the same time. It was such a beautiful location and so peaceful. We loved watching the tide come in and out, the boats go by, the morning fog, finding shells and seaglass, bird watching... it was great. We also loved being able to cook dinner right at the cottage and eating meals out on the deck. Plenty of space to accommodate our family. Our children loved it too! Thanks for a great vacation! Hope to visit again in the future!
My friends and I arrived from the States and loved the view and relaxing atmosphere. We are "seniors" enjoying a girlfriends vacation leaving husbands at home. We did not use the loft and there was ample room for the three of us. Sunrise is amazing over the water. The living, dining and kitchen area are open which makes it a wonderful space for friends or family to gather. All the basics are there that you will need from dishes to bathroom supplies. The location on the water is blissful and the area is perfect for walking, enjoying water activities or the large yard. We visited (and loved ) the Hooked Rug Museum of North America and marketplace a mile away, as well as, the Hubbard's Farmer's Market, Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay and looking for sea glass. The owner is a pleasure to work with and available if needed. I plan to return to this cabin again on my next visit.
Great place! The location is amazing, overlooking the water and very private. Beautiful view from inside the cottage, lots of windows, and from the deck due to the clear glass panels. My kids loved the loft upstairs, and there was lots of room for 6 of us, could have easily accommodated more. The kids also paddled out in the canoe one morning. Easy drive to Peggy's cove, Lunenburg, Halifax etc...A great place for all! Would have loved to stay all summer!!
I stayed at the cottage for the month of August 2014. It is a very nice cottage in a truly wonderful location. It is clean and well maintained. The deck is the best part. I spent hours watching the boats, the birds, and the tide coming in and out. It is a work in progress and I know Matthias will make a great cottage outstanding. He was the best owner ever. He responded to my every need in a timely way. The very steep stairs to the loft would be difficult for many, but with two bedrooms on the main floor, I didn't need the upper level. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.
From Booking to checking out, This vacation property has been great. We were down east for a family wedding, and you couldn't have asked for a better spot. Great Value, Great View. Will recommend to anyone i know who is looking for a place in the Peggys cove area. Thanks, Dave & Family
