What an absolutley fantastic home!! The house was extremely clean, and the fireplace was wonderful. The views are great, especially looking up at the stars - truly amazing. We can't wait to get back to the northwoods and enjoy the summer months - fishing, rafting and tubing.
We almost cancelled. The week before our scheduled holiday, I watched my dear friend and mother or three take her last few breaths of life. It seemed wrong to go away, and leave everyone else to deal with the logistics of losing a loved one..... In the end, we decided to turn inward, in a way that can only be done when there is silence and a river that lets thoughts and memories roll on through.... So life affirming. So healing. So needed. Thank you, Brett and Lynne, for all your attention to detail, for the lending of the fly rods, and for giving us the space to come together as a family, and hold each other tight. Life is so very precious, and this is the kind of place that reminds you of just that.
Great place, very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful view of the river. Plenty of room and great layout of the house and screen porch area. Lots of things to do in the area, we went whitewater rafting and rented utv's and did almost 200 miles of riding in 2 days.
We have three young children ages five, two and newborn. We had plenty of room and enjoyed the fact that we had water access but did not have to worry about the kids going down to the water on their own. Oconto county has some beautiful parks including Goodman, Thunder Mountain, and our favorite Dave's Falls. The accommodations here will not disappoint. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook meals. Whitewater rafting is available quite close by. With young kids we took a day trip over to Deyoung zoo in Michigan.
I was born and raised in Laona. My two children fondly remember visiting their grandmother. We frequently enjoyed Goodman Park and rode the Lumberjack Express. Now my children's spouses and my three grand children were thrilled by the same experiences--greatly enhanced by getting to stay in such a wonderful cottage in a beautiful location. My seven-year-old granddaughter stated it best: "It is magical." I hope we can do it again.
Brett has built a one of a kind vacation home that was hard to leave. Our family of 5 felt right at home and gave us the relaxation and peace we sought to accomplish in our trip. His helping hand Jane was possibly the sweetest giving person that allowed us to experience the area at a higher level. We look forward to our next return to your home :-)
