Great fishing in front of the cottage. Direct access to Marionette county forest.
What an absolutley fantastic home!! The house was extremely clean, and the fireplace was wonderful. The views are great, especially looking up at the stars - truly amazing. We can't wait to get back to the northwoods and enjoy the summer months - fishing, rafting and tubing.
Everything was fantastic. Two bird hunters could not have asked for more. Dogs were accepted, beds were comfortable and the setting was great. We'll be back next year.
Brett and Lynne, you have a fantastic cottage! It is roomy, clean, well decorated, and has great views of the river. The online pictures don't do it justice. Our kids (ages 20, 16, 11) loved the peace and quiet; no cell phones or internet! We fished the river, hiked, and relaxed by the campfire and stars at night. We ventured out to explore the waterfalls in Marinette county; they were amazing! We're looking forward to coming back in the summer for some white water rafting, tubing and kayaking. Brett, thanks for providing everything we needed to make our stay a great family time experience. If you're looking for a great north woods experience, the Wild Iris is your place!
My wife, 2 teenage boys, and nephew stayed from 8/14 to 8/19. We had a great time doing all the activities that the surrounding areas offer. White water rafting, zip lining, and many hours of fishing.
However, our favorite memories are coming back to the cabin and relaxing in the giant screened in porch. Gathering around the big fire pit and star gazing. Waking up early and walking down to the river to try and outsmart a Bass or Northern. We really needed some family time and the Wild Iris made it happen. Also, thank you Brett for being so flexible and helpful.

We've stayed in a number of VRBOs and loved them all, but this one tops our list. The house is beautiful, constructed with care and pride by the owners from trees on the property. It's designed with several spots for peaceful relaxation, all overlooking the river below: a hammock, the open back porch, the screened-in porch, the campfire area, and the cozy living room. The house is deceptively spacious (particularly taking into account the bunkhouse), and it was spotlessly clean and well-appointed. The caretaker/property manager lives across the street, and is available for any questions, needs, and even moral support :). The owner happened to be in town while we were there, and generously offered the use of his kayaks - even transporting us to the put-in area. We took advantage of many of his recommended area activities, including hiking at Goodman Park, swimming at Twin Bridges, and visiting Gov Thompson State Park. The Wild Iris is definitely off the beaten path, with the nearest town a 20-30 minute drive and a small section of gravel road only. This was exactly what we were looking for, but may be a drawback for some. Other small considerations that were irrelevant for us, but perhaps important to others: there's no air conditioning, but the nights were cool even on the hottest days; there's no dishwasher or wifi; and access to bedrooms involved a large flight of stairs. Overall, I would highly recommend this house and location for a vacation filled with beauty and relaxation. Heartfelt appreciation to Brett and Lynne for sharing their "up north" retreat with us.
Wild Iris had the modern amenities, yet the rustic serenity we were looking for. As always, the photos don't do the cottage justice: it is roomier than it appears and very well laid out so every inch of space is well utilized. Our family of 8 (five adults, three kids) fit very comfortable. We opted for nearby lakes/beaches over the flowage accessible via the property. Owners provided everything we could have needed!
