Northwoods at it's best!
What an absolutley fantastic home!! The house was extremely clean, and the fireplace was wonderful. The views are great, especially looking up at the stars - truly amazing. We can't wait to get back to the northwoods and enjoy the summer months - fishing, rafting and tubing.
We had a great stay at the Wild Iris. The house is very clean and nicely decorated. We loved sitting around the fire in the evening and eating dinner on the screened in porch. My husband and son enjoyed fishing off the dock and caught a few nicely sized pikes and a bass.
Very clean and cozy cabin. We enjoyed the outdoors, yet wish the river was a bit easier to access.
Nice place to kick back and relax. No distractions to keep you from hearing the beautiful sounds of nature. Loved the screened in porch area, and was utilized due to unruly mosquitoes. Everything was clean, and plenty of room for the 7 of us. We checked out some of the waterfalls, and parks nearby. The natural beauty of the area is well worth some hiking. Don't forget to bring your camera! The Rustic, nearby, has a nice small town bar feel, with excellent food. We recommend the salmon. The owner's of the cabin did have two kayak's to use, however, the embankment to the water is very steep, and no steps, so it would have been a struggle for us to use them. In the end, we decided to rent kayaks for the day for 6 of us and enjoyed a few hours out on Cauldron Falls Lake. Beautiful day trip. Overall, the stay at the Wild Iris was just what we needed to recharge our batteries. I would recommend this cabin.
My sister and I planned a family get away here for a few days with our families. The house (plus bunkhouse) provided more than enough space, and the kids loved the proximity to the river. The kitchen is shockingly well-supplied with spices, nice pans, other amenities. We could have spent a week and not gotten around to all of the fun things to do and see nearby. Highly recommended!
This is a wonderful place!! If you're looking for complete privacy and seclusion, Wild Iris can be that place for you. It's a really welcoming and beautiful home and the layout of the property is perfect. It's very clean, well organized, and fully stocked with, well, everything. The property manager (Jean) greeted us on our first day and made sure everything was in order. And it was also nice that Brett (owner) also stopped by to say hello and give us additional life vests for kayaking. The screened porch was great in the evening as it protected us from mosquitoes and other flying critters or during the rainwater on our third day. It also allowed us to just open the French doors and allow the breeze flow through the cabin without worrying about any bugs coming in. The best part of it all was the sunset! There's a complete view of it from by the fire or at the porch. TIP: bring a satellite GPS if you have one. Mobile service cuts in and out, and exploring the area will be difficult without GPS. Enjoy!!
Relaxing Family Get-Away
Our stay at Wild Iris was everything we hoped for! What a relaxing spot and beautiful, comfortable cabin. The beds are very cozy! The bathrooms are gorgeous and clean. We spent a lot of time on the large screen porch, playing games, dining and reading. This cabin is well-built and thoughtfully furnished. During a quiet moment, a deer walked right up in the yard and fed on the brush at the edge of the lawn! Pretty! The outdoor heated shower was awesome too! We brought our kayaks and used the 2 available at the cabin. We decided to haul them to the bridge at Harper and Fisherman to launch. Not the easiest launch put doable. We paddled down the Rat River, an easy paddle with just slight rapids here and there. The Rat River flows into the Peshtigo so we paddled downstream and got oult at Farm Dam Road, right before some bigger rapids. It was a great paddle - maybe a hour and 15 minute trip - depending on how ambitious you are at paddling! This is a quiet, private, peaceful property! Not once did we miss having wifi or turn on the TV! We would highly recommend it!
Easy accuses to ATV trails. Best Class 3 to Class 4 rafting in the mid west. Blue Ribbon Trout Fishing. Avoid the Door County crowds and enjoy the real North Woods. Near Paint Ball, Zip Lines and Potawatomi Carter Casino.
