You can see the monument from the balcony of our rental home, looks like a hay silo to the left. The view from the home is a beautiful breathtaking view with at least a 40 mountain peak view of national forest along with a peaceful view of Lake Chatuge and a western sunset exposure. The view can even be enjoyed from the living area in the winter.
Karen Harris purchased this house in 2003
Hiawassee is one of the most beautiful and peaceful towns in North Georgia. Small enough to make you feel away from all the hustle and chaos of a larger city but large enough to enjoy shopping and dinning in a small town. See how beautiful Lake Chatuge and the mountains of North Georgia can be.
Lake Lovers Overlook is just 1/2 mile from the middle of Hiawassee off Hwy 76. This home has a private feeling on a dead end road. You can often hear the creek from the wrap around balcony. Enjoy the sunset over the mulit-peak mountain range, you can even see Brasstown Bald, the tallest point in Georgia.
The home is decorated in a mountain theme decor. The living room has a breathtaking view of Lake Chatuge and the mountains.
I stayed at this lovely home one of the first weekends in December with five of my girlfriends for a birthday celebration. Upon arrival, the home was cleaned spotless and warm and inviting. It was much nicer than the pictures suggest. We enjoyed our weekend in front of the gas fire place playing card games and watching movies. The master king bed was unbelievably comfortable. Each of the bathrooms were stocked with extra toilet paper, the kitchen had paper towels and dish soap, which was a nice touch. We were able to connect our firestick to the flat screen to watch movies. The wifi connection was strong. Kitchen accessories were provide but minimal. If you plan to do a lot of cooking such as we did, I would recommend bringing tubaware for leftovers. Karen was extremely nice throughout the process of renting. My only complaint would be with the booking process. I had initially intended for 8 guest(having to pay an extra fee for each person over 5 per night) She was kind enough to adjust my balance that was to be paid a month in advance. I had to mail in a check. I had a friend mail a check so it would be sent that day. She included my name on the check along with a detailed letter explaining who and when the reservation as for. I had to contact Karen four different times inquiring if she had received the check. Two days before our trip, I had to inquire for the last time. She told me she had not received the check. My friend had to go through her online banking and find that the check had been cashed three weeks prior. Apparently, it had been marked for someone elses reservation. I understand mistakes happen, but it took me inquiring multiple times to get it settled, and two days before my trip is not when I wanted to be dealing with it. My only other dislike would be finding out upon arrival that we had to take our own garbage to the dump or be charged an extra fee, which isnt a problem but would have been nice to know that ahead of time. Overall we were very satisfied and would book again!
We couldn't believe the view when we walked in and the house was so nice and clean! Too bad we could only stay 3 nights! The pictures didn't do this place justice! It's a must see and a must stay! Wasn't a lot to do in the area but if you are in for a snuggle up cabin then this is your place. The two neighbor cabins were abandoned and ran down but this place was truly amazing, secluded and restful!! We brought our dog and he enjoyed the nice balcony as did we! We didn't use the hot tub but it looked nice, the fireplace was used daily and was great for roasting marshmallows. Will definitely think of bringing the family members next time since there was plenty of space for larger groups. Karen, was nice and made sure we had everything we needed. You must stay here!!!!!!
The view, in and of itself, is worth the stay but there are so many other positives. There is no overselling with the description - everything is as promised. The cabin was very clean, nicely decorated and landscaped. There were plenty of blankets and towels. It is situated in a way that you don't see the neighbors which gives a sense of privacy. The cell coverage and wi-fi connection were strong. We went during the first cool snap of the fall so the gas logs pilot light was not lit. We contacted the owners and they responded quickly and told us what to do. Our entire family, which includes 5 young adult children (including spouses) with 2 friends went. They enthusiastically agreed that the cabin was situated in a way that accommodated our together time but also allowed space from each other. We all want to go back. The only suggestions I have for other people is to bring the cords you would need to connect a laptop to the TV should you want to watch YouTube. Also bring any specialized cooking/baking dishes that you may need. I went prepared and took a muffin pan.
Enjoyed the cabin and the sceanry. Convient to town and nicely decorated. Wasn't aware that there was a charge for an extra person until our trip was over and was surprised by text. Make sure you know upfront what the charegs are and what would be extra, Paid full amount in advance. Then was told there was a security deposit on our last night there and had that additional cost to the trip. Nothing I saw was said on the reservation to this effect. I like things to be upfront when reserving a place to stay and don't like surprise's. Drive to the cabin needs some work Street had bad potholes in places and the driveway is a little rough in places.
This is a great cabin to get away from home we spent our 16th anniversary here and loved it. We will definitely be back. Has a nice hot tub, lots of room, out by itself so no one bothers you.
My sister, myself and our fiance's stayed at Lake Lovers Overlook for 5 nights and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The view is gorgeous--mountain peaks with Brasstown Bald's observation deck in the distance and Lake Chatuge in the forefront. The drive up to the house is not a difficult one, we made it up fine in our Kia Forte and my sisters Honda CRV. The house is spacious with more than enough room for more guests. We used the downstairs master with the giant bathroom and separate living area. This room is convenient to the hot tub and lower level deck and seating. My sister stayed in the upstairs master with attached bath. If you've got non early risers staying, this room may be a bit bright for them in the mornings. The kitchen is well equipped with pots, pans, utensils, etc. I'd suggest bringing things like aluminum foil, saran wrap, and maybe a few Tupperware type containers if you'll be doing lots of cooking. We went to the house first to see what was available and then made a trip to Ingles (very convenient to the house) to get the things we needed. The location of the house is convenient and within an hour or so of all the things we wanted to do. Karen was helpful and easy to reach when needed. Being at her house was very relaxing and if we plan to be in the area, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
