Lovely property in an amazing spot. The house has everything you need for a totally relaxing holiday and waking up to the breathtaking view from the balcony makes getting out of bed so much easier!! There a a couple of lovely bars and restaurants within walking distance. However a car is definitely needed for shopping and exploring. Thank you Karen for fitting us in at short notice. It’s been just perfect.
Best views ever! Very comfortable.
The home came with what was needed for a relaxing stay, but it does need some TLC. The property managers were responsive and the location made up for the areas needing attention. We enjoyed being there and hope we have the opportunity to return.
Place in the sun
The house was lovely and Karen couldn't have been more helpful. You definitely need a car if you want to go to Turre, but there are bars/restaurants within walking distance. The Restaurant opposite the property wasn't open while we were there, don't know if it is closed indefinitely.
The foliage is a bit overgrown, it would be nicer to sit in if it was cut back a bit.
Even though there were fans in the property I think air conditioning would be good.
I'm not sure if it states on the property description but the internal stairs are quite steep so would not be suitable if you had any sort of mobility issues.
The property had everything you need in it, which other self-catering properties I've been to didn't. So no need to go and buy anything apart from food and drink.
Overall the property was lovely, in a stunning location and Karen was always on hand to answer any queries.
Thankyou so much for a great and helpful review. I’m so pleased you liked the house and location and apologies for the overgrown foliage on the terrace. This has now been addressed. Thanks for your comments about the stairs - I agree they would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. The property details do state there is no air conditioning and to install it would mean a significant rise in rental costs. A car is definitely needed when staying in the valley.
I would be delighted to welcome you back to no.7 whenever you would like.
Perfect peace and tranquility
This was our second visit to this property and we will be back again as soon as we can. If you want the bright lights and city life forget it. If you want peace beauty all around you then this is the place for you. The property has everything you need. Main bedroom has very comfortable bed and a wonderful balcony with stunning views. Downstairs patio has 2 barbecues . We used the gas one for ease and it was wonderful. 3 places to eat out within walking distance. A car is essential for shopping and exploring the area if you can force yourself to leave the view for a few hours.
Thank you Karen for a great stay. We’ll be in touch.
I’m so pleased you and a wonderful holiday once again in Cortijo Grande and thanks for your lovely comments about my house. Thrilled the new gas BBQ was a hit! It really will be my pleasure to welcome you back whenever you would like. 👍😊
This small terraced house is in a fabulous spot on the edge of a currently defunct (but there are rumours ...) golf course with amazing views of the mountains from its terrace and upstairs balcony.
It is comfortably furnished and well equipped and was spotlessly clean on arrival (and departure!). There is very good WiFi and the internet TV (a new experience for us) gave us access to all UK free view channels. Although there is no facility to record it does provide catch up for the past 10 days. It worked perfectly throughout our stay.
Some might regard Cortijo Grande as a little isolated but it is only a 10 minute drive to Turre and 20 minutes to the coast. There is a good bar and restaurant within a 5 minute walk (The Almazara). It’s opening hours were a little hit and miss during our (winter) stay but will be a delightful spot during the season. There is also the Listonero restaurant nearby which has great reviews but we did not visit.
For us the location was perfect and gave us wonderful walking direct from the house. (For keen walkers look up the Mojacar Walking Group on the internet; it is splendidly well organised and has lots of walks between October and April.)
We had a truly wonderful stay and can not recommend this property too highly. The owner Karen was ever helpful and a delight to deal with.
Fantastic views from a very nice and comfortable house
We had a lovely holiday (all of November) in a quiet location with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Restaurants, shops and the sea is not far away.
The house is well equipped with comfortable clean beds, in fact comfortable throughout.
We hope to return one day and would happily recommend it.

Thanks for a great review and so pleased you enjoyed your holiday in my house. I’d be delighted to welcome you both back in the future whenever you would like.
Located in Cortijo Grande, a stunning valley at the foot of the Sierra Cabrera mountains and overlooking the golf course and orange groves. Cortijo Grande is close to the popular resort of Mojacar on the Costa de Almeria and only 45 minutes drive from Almeria airport, two hours drive from Alicante airport and approx 1 hour 30 mins from Murcia airport. Nearby Mojacar Playa is full of life both night and day in the high season. Watersports are available by day with a variety of nightlife and cuisine for the evening. Five miles away from the house is the white-washed Moorish hilltop village of Mojacar Pueblo which features narrow cobbled streets with many bars and restaurants. There is a weekly street market here on Wednesdays.
In contrast, the nearby fishing port of Garrucha is a busy town offering a wide range of shops, a larger busy market on Fridays, a thriving port and many excellent seafood restaurants. The beach here is very popular with families and children.
Turre is the nearest town, three miles away, with a well stocked supermarket, local banks, internet cafe aswell as bars and restaurants. There is a bookshop stocking English newspapers and books. Friday is market day in Turre and the streets and square are full of market stalls selling everything from fresh fruit and veg to secondhand golf equipment! The bars and restaurants are buzzing on this day.
There are three restaurant/bars within walking distance of the house, Los Pinos, The Almazara and Finca Listonera. There are two more a short drive away up the mountain in Cabrera, Los Pastores with amazing views across the valley. Sitting on the terrace here in the evening and watching the sunset is amazing. Slightly lower down the mountain is Fatima's restaurant.
The nearest swimming pool is just outside the valley, approx two miles away at The Hostal Rural, on the road leading to Turre. It is open to all if you buy a drink and some tapas. A real suntrap!
The area is very popular for cycling and mountain biking and is well supported with cycle shops and rentals. Cycle maintenace and repairs are also available at most shops.
The golf course in Cortijo Grande is no longer a managed course but is fine for a casual game. For more serious golfers there are nearby courses on Mojacar Playa and Valle De Este towards Vera. There is also a great beach club here with pool, water sports and a bar and restaurant.
