Overview

About the property

Beautiful private setting, Views, Hot Tub, Cabin, 3 Bedrooms 2 Baths, Sleeps 2-6

If privacy and setting are the qualities you are searching for in your next getaway, then look no further. From the moment you step through the front door, you will feel that you have arrived to your mountain home away from home. Muskwaki Pines is located in one of South Shore Lake Tahoe’s best kept secret neighborhoods. This home makes an ideal ski lease. If interested in a ski lease, make an inquiry to get a quote from the owner.

Conveniently tucked off of Pioneer Trail, this quiet area fronts the Upper Truckee River and meadow, which is a ten minute walk from the house. The home’s peaceful setting has meadow, forest and mountain views. There is open space surrounding the property with both forest and meadow. Even though it is just fifteen minutes in any direction to Lake Tahoe’s attractions, you may not want to leave. Do not be surprised to see bears, coyotes, and even an occasional raccoon cruising the area.

Because this home has been the owners' primary residence for over twenty years, it is very well stocked with everything you will need to make this your home away from home. The interior is furnished with unique antiques, comfy lodge furniture and Tahoe themed artworks. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and cooking essentials. All the basic food stuffs and dry goods will be conveniently available so that you can spend more of your vacation time on vacation. The BBQ on the deck is always ready as it is hard-wired natural gas. No propane tanks to fill.

The home has 3 bedrooms with King pillow-top beds in two of the bedrooms and two twin beds in the third bedroom, and two bathrooms. No one will be left without hot water due to the tankless hot water heater. Conveniently, a fully stocked laundry room is off the kitchen. For those who must take their work with them, there is high speed wifi internet, some office supplies, and an all-in-one printer/FAX/scanner/copier.

Lots of windows invite the outdoors in. Enjoy your privacy on the deck. Take in the fabulous sunsets while soaking in the four-person hot tub. Or just curl up in front of the fire and watch a good movie on the big screen Smart TV.

Our furry guests can romp in the fenced yard area with access from the deck. But that still leaves plenty of open grassy area to set up a game of croquet or bocce ball, or build snowmen in the wintertime. Or even set up a tent for the kids that want to go 'camping'.

About Sue or Neal

Lake Tahoe is a special place. We have lived in Tahoe for over 30 years. Once you plant you feet you never want to leave. Max and Riley, our dogs, love to go to the Upper Truckee River and splash in the water. As scuba divers, we have explored all around the shores of the lake. As boaters, we enjoy our outings in the summer and fall on the big blue.

Sue or Neal purchased this house in 1984

Why Sue or Neal chose South Lake Tahoe

This area is one of South Lake Tahoe's best kept secrets of a neighborhood. It is off the beaten path with open space and fewer homes than most areas.

What makes this house unique

Private setting, Fresh Mountain Air, tall pines and a beautiful lake. The river and flower studded meadow is a short walk from the front door. Wildlife cruises right through the property.

Excellent Vacation Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Me, my two brothers, and dog stayed here for a long birthday weekend, and it was perfect. Very cozy, 10 minute drive from South Lake, and in a beautiful setting. The house itself is older, but the heater and wood burning furnace kept it warm and made it feel very homey. The bathrooms are newer and the showers are hot. The back two bedrooms are down the hall with large beds (one with a connecting bathroom), and the third is just off of the living room with two twin beds. The living room is comfortable with two couches (WiFi and dish TV work great) and opens up to a beautiful view of the backyard. There is no house immediately to the left of or directly behind, so the deck area and hot tub are very private. The fenced area is plenty of space for the dog or little ones to run around and play in plain sight. The meadow (which is massive!) and river that are displayed in the posting are even better in person, and truly a short 5 minute walk away. The owners are extremely responsive and accommodating, and we will definitely be back. All in all, an excellent vacation setup.

Owner's Response: Those endless hot showers are thanks to the recently installed tankless hot water heater.

Amazing stay

  • 5 of 5

Loved the housecond and location. It was easy to access and get the keys. The rooms were very charming and the renter had a book with details about the artwork in the house, which was really cool to learn about. I would recommend this place to stay. Only draw back was I had to remove sheets off beds that were slept in and I felt that since I was the guest that this should have been included in the cleaning fee. And the couches were hard to sit on as the cushions slipped off as soon as you sat on them. But it was a cute, quaint place to stay and I would go back again.

Good but room for small improvements.

  • 4 of 5

The location was great for mountain biking, hiking, and avoiding the crowds. Loved the fenced in yard for the pups, and the hot tub. The beds were very comfortable.

We were disappointed in the general cleanliness of the house. There were cob webs on all the light fixtures. The plates all had chips in them (which is a bit sketchy). And all of the pots and pans we took out to use were filthy and had to be thoroughly washed before hand. A couple of the bath towels had a bunch of hair in them.

The bathrooms had very dim lighting, one of the fixtures only had one bulb, so it was a bit hard to see.

All in all, the house served its purpose and we enjoyed our time there, but it could definitely use a few small upgrades and possibly a better cleaning service.

Very peaceful.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this cabin. The fenced yard was great for the dogs. The area is peaceful and beautiful. The deck has a hot tub that was great to sit in at night. The airport is nearby but it is not busy and there is not that much noise. The house is a little dated but that is what gives it charm and comfort.

charming retreat under the stars

  • 5 of 5

Spent three days in Tahoe, enjoying the local beaches and relaxing on the back deck. Quiet place to pour a glass of wine and soak in the hot tub under the stars. Thanks for a relaxing weekend.
