The house is situated in a raised position overlooking a sheltered from the north winds bay surrounded by wind mills which have been refurbished to be used as summer houses (surrounded by gardens and swimming pools). The house offers fantastic sea views from all angles. It is a traditional stone made construction with a minimal interior design. Built in 2 levels, the first consists of a large protected open area for lunch/dinning and a spacious sitting area under a pergola. The kitchen is equipped with all necessary equipment and is an open plan with the dinning room and living room. The front balcony is very spacious and a dinning table is available along with the seating arm chairs looking to the direction of the sea. The lower level ground consists of 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. All bedrooms have access to the garden and offer fantastic views to the bay, the garden and the swimming pool. The house is surrounded by a well attended garden with numerous roses and other plants. The sea view changes every hour making it an ideal portrait keeping the guests' eyes busy. There is large garden surounding the house and Porto Koundouros beach known for its facilities is a 2 minutes drive or a 15 minutes walk where you can find a very well organized sandy beach with a traditional restaurant, grill house, fish bar, coffee shop, cocktails bar as well as sport facilities (water ski, scuba diving, etc).
The island of Kea is well connected with the port of Lavrio from which in 45 minutes drive one could reach Athens in order to visit the city's main attractions. Leaving in the morning one could spend the day in Athens and return back to the island late in the evening. This flexibility becomes more attractive for those who may wish to book for more than a week in the island. Many of the residents during summer transport every day to their offices in Athens since it is only an hour to cross to teh mainland with the ferry boat).
Also the island is interconnected with the islands of Syros, Kythnos and Milos.
We are a family of 4 persons myself and my wife are lawyers and our twin daughters are in the univeristy styuding law and architecture. We travel a lot and most of our friends are from Europe and the U.S. Our summer house is next to this property which we have acquired in order to preserve our privacy, since the location of the house is unique. The house is used by friends mainly whom we invite as guest.
Gus J. Papamichalopoulos purchased this house in 2009
The house offers tremendous views and is located at the perfect spot. There is no disturbance and is idel for those who want to enjoy a peaceful vacation enjoying the views and the changes in the daylight.
A picture is a thousand of words as they say. So we feel confident that an experineced traveller will be able to udnerstand the benfits that this offer secures for its tenants.
The island of Kea has many hidden spectacular offers. The house is located at one of the most prestigious places as it offers access to wonderful beaches while being unaffected by crowds of visitors and is an ideal spot for family summer vacation. A private beach is just 50 meters from the south gate of the plot with clear waters and only a few families of the surrounding houses have access to such beach. Important to note for those who are looking for a calm environment, is that all the surrounding houses are used by the owners who most of them are entreprenuers living abroadd. A very close alternative to the private beach is the beach at Koundouros (only 2 minutes by car or 15 minutes by foot) which has a sandy beach, a bar, a fish restaurant, arm cahirs at the beach and hosts very nice evening events, etc. Nightlife is well organised at Vourkari - which is a small village offering mooring facilities for yachts- 40 minutes drive from Koundouros. The capital of the island (Ioulida) is built on a hill with spectacular views and has an archaeological museum. Don't miss the 'Lion of Kea' and the scenery.
Other Activities: For those who enjoy walking the island is well known of its historic path routes through very nice land (paths dated back in the 6th century B.C).
