Seaside historic Lewes, Delaware charms visitors all year long with quaint shops, restaurants, art galleries, maritime history, gardens and beaches. Walk/ bike to all of these. Bike path at end of street connects to Rehoboth and beaches. Soak up the full Lewes experience by staying close to town in this vintage Victorian house. A block to dinner at the Buttery or coffee at Azafran. Drink that extra glass of wine and save your meter money for you can easily walk home. We just added a ping pong table in the garage!
Come morning prop your feet up on the porch railing and experience this small town wake up. Snow geese honk overhead, boats toot horns and people will wave and say 'good morning.' Or nap hammock style under the pine bough in the secluded backyard garden. Walk and fish, boat or kayak in the Lewes canal. Cross over the canal bridge a half mile to the bay beach with a light house view. Hop the nearby ferry to Cape May to see more Victorian architecture and stores where you can pay sales tax. Then come back to Lewes to buy that expensive diamond necklace for there is no sales tax here in Delaware. Go to the Rehoboth outlets and save more especially off season. But don't forget we are at the beach so go the mile to Cape Henlopen Park. The surf, sun and sand are our main attraction. Here miles of pristine Atlantic beach stretch from the Cape to Rehoboth. You can even bring Fido to some. Swim in season, walk and collect shells or view migratory birds all year long. Cape Henlopen has miles of nature, bike trails and bird watching areas.
Too much fun in Lewes to list. We are the 'civilized beach' so come, slow down drive 25mph or park your car and don't drive. Here you can walk and bike everywhere!

Both owners are artists! The house displays their paintings, drawings and even a faux cherry pie, bowl of fruit and plants around. Caryl writes and illustrates children's books and you may find a copy of her book 'The Words' out for you to read.

Came to Lewes and LOVED it. Bought this house where our family vacationed for years. Now we own another Lewes house where we live but we do miss the close in location of Franklin Avenue house!
First the location, everything is walkable! Second our house has a living room and separate TV/Den. This means the TV can be on and the living room can be for quiet reading. Third the private patio backyard!
We had a wonderful time. The owners supplied everything we needed. I loved the backyard with the hammock. Luke, my dog, had an exceptional time. The owners provided a special blanket, toys, and food bowls. We enjoyed the dog beach at Henelopen State Park. We also explored the new trail at the park. The neighbors were very nice. I went to Zumba on Wednesday. It's free but you may give a donation. We ate at striper bites a couple times and was able to bring my dog as they have outdoor seating. We also enjoyed the nearby city parks. I love how the owners decorated the home. The tv was great. A lot of channels. My husband watched a little too much soccer. The internet was also great. There was 5 of us and we had plenty of room. The owner left us a bottle of wine which I enjoyed while my husband went grocery shopping. I loved sitting on the front porch.

Close t town, cozy, warm inviting. Perfect for our family of five and our grand parents and dog. We walked everywhere. Beach, dinner, town, and even got to let the kids walk alone. We love Lewes and this was probably our favorite trip here. The house is cute and has little nooks for everyone to have their own private space. It is clean and tidy and comfortable. Outdoor shower for beach goers is a key. Outdoor patio is secluded and front porch is lovely with rocking bench. The owner was kind and gracious. We will be returning!
This house has everything you need. It's super convenient to town and beach. The outdoor shower is fabulous. Caryl was very helpful.
What a terrific family/pet friendly property! Loved the back yard, that was the most used area on the property! Every morning was a quick walk downtown for coffee. There is so much to see and do within just a few blocks. I would highly recommend this house and book it again. The welcome bag was also a nice surprise. Love the experience!
We enjoyed our stay in this house very much. It was quiet and the location was ideal for walking around Lewes and to the beach etc. We spent a lot of time on the back porch just relaxing and reading. A very comfortable house and we loved the ping pong table too!
