Lewes House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-9)

Seaside historic Lewes, Delaware charms visitors all year long with quaint shops, restaurants, art galleries, maritime history, gardens and beaches. Walk/ bike to all of these. Soak up the full Lewes experience by staying close to town in this vintage Victorian house. A block to dinner at the Buttery or coffee at Azafran. Drink that extra glass of wine and save your meter money for you can easily walk home. We just added a ping pong table in the garage!

Come morning prop your feet up on the porch railing and experience this small town wake up. Snow geese honk overhead, boats toot horns and people will wave and say 'good morning.' Or nap hammock style under the pine bough in the secluded backyard garden. Walk and fish, boat or kayak in the Lewes canal. Cross over the canal bridge a half mile to the bay beach with a light house view. Hop the nearby ferry to Cape May to see more Victorian architecture and stores where you can pay sales tax. Then come back to Lewes to buy that expensive diamond necklace for there is no sales tax here in Delaware. Go to the Rehoboth outlets and save more especially off season. But don't forget we are at the beach so go the mile to Cape Henlopen Park. The surf, sun and sand are our main attraction. Here miles of pristine Atlantic beach stretch from the Cape to Rehoboth. You can even bring Fido to some. Swim in season, walk and collect shells or view migratory birds all year long. Cape Henlopen has miles of nature, bike trails and bird watching areas.

Too much fun in Lewes to list. We are the 'civilized beach' so come, slow down drive 25mph or park your car and don't drive. Here you can walk and bike everywhere!

About Caryl E Williams

Both owners are artists! The house displays their paintings, drawings and even a faux cherry pie, bowl of fruit and plants around. Caryl writes and illustrates children's books and you may find a copy of her book 'The Words' out for you to read.

Caryl E Williams purchased this house in 2002

Why Caryl E Williams chose Lewes

Came to Lewes and LOVED it. Bought this house where our family vacationed for years. Now we own another Lewes house where we live but we do miss the close in location of Franklin Avenue house!

What makes this house unique

First the location, everything is walkable! Second our house has a living room and separate TV/Den. This means the TV can be on and the living room can be for quiet reading. Third the private patio backyard!

Beautiful Home!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. The owners supplied everything we needed. I loved the backyard with the hammock. Luke, my dog, had an exceptional time. The owners provided a special blanket, toys, and food bowls. We enjoyed the dog beach at Henelopen State Park. We also explored the new trail at the park. The neighbors were very nice. I went to Zumba on Wednesday. It's free but you may give a donation. We ate at striper bites a couple times and was able to bring my dog as they have outdoor seating. We also enjoyed the nearby city parks. I love how the owners decorated the home. The tv was great. A lot of channels. My husband watched a little too much soccer. The internet was also great. There was 5 of us and we had plenty of room. The owner left us a bottle of wine which I enjoyed while my husband went grocery shopping. I loved sitting on the front porch.

Cute, well-located Lewes getaway!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this home over 4th of July week and loved our time in Lewes. As a family of 4 with a small dog, Caryl's property was a perfect fit for us. It is centrally located but very private with a nice backyard area. The home is quaint with cute furnishings and Victorian accents and was just enough space to suit our needs. We felt it was appropriate for the price and again, the location is ideal for walking to the shops, restaurants and canal and easy access to the beach and bike trails.

A Gem Nestled in Quaint Lewes!

  • 4 of 5

This home was just the right size for our family of four. The home is very comfortable - I spent much of my time on the chaise in the living room, reading and relaxing, while the other members of my family were in the family room enjoying a TV show. The house is charming - I especially loved that it was not cluttered with too much furniture. One day I found my daughter reading in the hammock in the backyard. The beds were very comfortable, which is something we haven't found in other homes.

The only very minor issue we found was that the stove was not working and the upstairs toilet was not flushing. However, when we called Caryl she was very responsive and offered to send over someone. We responded it was not necessary, since we were staying only for a weekend.

All-in-all, a lovely home and the owner is very responsive and truly wants her guests to be comfortable.

Thank you, Caryl, for sharing your home with us.

We will be returning!

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying in this amazing house for three months. I can not say enough good things about the home. The location is amazing, you are close to everything. You are minutes to multiple different beaches. Caryl is amazing and always available. The house has everything you need. There is also a beautiful backyard that is very relaxing. We are so thankful we found this rental. It was everything we hoped for. We can't wait to return!

Another Wonderful Trip

  • 5 of 5

Over the past several years, this house on Franklin Street has been our go-to place for fun on the beach and the chance to explore a super historic small (quiet) town in a very comfortable and quiet location. It just took one experience to sell me (and my Golden) on this house, its location, the neighborhood, and the owners. We are now considered 'regulars'!!

Once again, we had a super time with lots of hiking and romping on the beach (including with Caryl/George's new puppy), at Prime Hook, and in the Historic area. Just love this place and the 'owners' could not/not be any better than they are. We have already scheduled another trip back in next couple of months.

A charming cottage in a prime location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. The house was very nice, with lots of "beach" atmosphere and the convenience of being within reasonable walking distance of pretty much everything. We loved the atmosphere and were very satisfied by all the amenities. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a cozy Autumn beach getaway!
