The 1400 sq ft accommodation is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. (While a guest, you'll come and go thru a main entry onto private estate roads with gorgeous views, marvelous landscaping, native wildlife and seasonally grazing show horses. After touring the surrounding Texas hill country, this property offers a return to privacy, open spaces, quiet walks, large fish pond, and observation of horses, birds and wildlife. See Photos.).

The storybook cottage is beautifully custom-furnished, with magnificent polished flooring, fully furnished kitchen, separate living, separate bedroom, king size bed, large elegant bathroom, and grand loft. Well-arranged tables, desks, & chairs also serve as excellent workstations for longer term stays.

4. All utilities, amenities, towels, bedding, cooking utensils, dish-ware, appliances, high-speed WIFI, Blu-ray, Cable, HDTV, & Washer/Dryer are included.

Far from a converted space or paneled cabin, this accomodation is a custom-built storybook estate guesthouse consistently 5 Star* rated by visitors from all over the world. Independently located atop a scenic section of the owners' private estate property, the alpine-style stone structure is accessed via winding estate drive, over pond and creek, through fields and trees, then up a hillside with scenic views, private guest parking, and outdoor landscaping. The hosts are friendly, the property majestic!

Visitors enjoy chateau-style high-country views, starry nights, cool breezes, a vintage storybook Texas hill country feel ('quiet, spacious, & cozy'), and wonderful interior lodge-style wildlife and mountain decor. Finished out in 2012, the chateau is fully tech-equipped, has all kinds of custom touches, and is immaculately cleaned and prepared for each guest.

Upon entering the chateau, guests are greeted by an exquisite large main living area with high-gloss floors, stonework & area rugs, an antique-style gas iron fireplace (with instant "on-off" operation), comfortable leather seating, separate love seat, beautiful high pine wood ceilings, and furs placed all around. The view and scenery back west through the panoramic windows is inspiring, peaceful and relaxing. Through the windows, guests also observe the area's native wildlife, birds and hummingbirds, via feeders perfectly placed by the owners.

A granite full kitchen, large custom bathroom (with oversized walk-in shower, 2 separate shower heads, & tile seating), and cozy private bedroom add to the relaxed feel and smartly designed charm of the place. The decorated stairway, artwork and 2nd floor grand loft above--which overlooks the main living area below--allow for even more space to enjoy and entertain from.

The chateau is outfitted with a Main Room 55' wall-mounted LED Cable HDTV, bathroom Cable TV, free high-speed WIFI throughout (allowing use of a tablet or PC for bedroom reading or more TV there), and convenient workspaces on both levels - all of which allow guests to easily check-in with the world, home, and office--without missing a beat.

Outdoors, the chateau shines with high-country patio views, living space and areas to explore (private porch,, stone paths, flowerbeds, winding private roads, artistically crafted rock walls, seasonal wildflowers, & private pond, just to name a few.

About Todd and Laura

The owners are an active couple, married over 30 years, who love the Texas Hill Country, its scenic views, hills, streams, lakes, rocks and wildlife. They purchased the first section of the subject 20 acre property in 1985, cleared and developed it, and raised their family on it. Now, they enjoy sharing it with friends and guests! They reside away from the guest cottage, on a different part of the property, in the main house.

The owners purchased and developed the property because of its wildlife, majestic vistas and sunsets, starry nights, wide expanses, and privacy. It is safe, peaceful and comfortable. Horses, meadows, a working barn and garden, a spring-fed pond, and your own separate driveway are all part of the nearly 20 acre estate.

This estate cottage chateau is the essence of Texas hill country style, charm and beauty!! Guests will feel as if they have been whisked away to a unique and secluded alpine-style stone mountain residence, yet will also be in the heart of an area with excellent restaurants, entertainment, music, shopping, and lakeside water sports--all close by. The property has its own access drive, its own scenic paths and patios, pond, indoor and outdoor fireplaces to warm the heart (you will particularly enjoy the dancing flames from the cast iron fire stove on chilly nights), room to walk, exercise and explore the nearly 20 acres, clean country air, wildlife, deer, rabbits, beautiful birds, breezes on the porch, wine, tea, horses, gardening, hiking, biking, walking, fishing, boating, shopping, eating out, movies, music, name it. The cottage home is an independent private residence completed in 2011 away from the owners' main home and other facilities on the estate. Walk and exercise on the property's private roads, or hike the majestic Rough Hollow trails and sidewalks just 3 miles away. The Lakeway Airpark is just 3.5 miles away. The Lakeway Marina and Lake Travis are just 4.5 miles from this location. The Flintrock Falls golf course is across the street, and there are many other nearby courses. The Hill Country Galleria, Shops at the Galleria, Backyard music venue, and many awesome restaurants surround this location.

Deserves More Than Five Stars! (Ten Would Work)

This is a wonderful retreat location for a couple. The location is great, with accessibility to restaurants and attractions. The furnishings in the property are top notch - with a very comfortable bed - and more than you could reasonably expect in appointments in the kitchen and bathroom. The "Mountain Lodge" decor of the cottage is Texas Hill Country appropriate, with over 30 artifacts of Hill Country wildlife. Todd and Laura are wonderful at hosting guests - and are available to tend to any needs that may arise. We enjoyed hiking at Enchanted Rock and Pedernales, as well as the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Park and the Zilker Botanical Gardens. My wife and I have stayed at a half dozen or so VRBO properties, and this one was the best that we have found. I wish we could move it to every place in the country that we would like to visit!

Wonderful Retreat

The cottage was perfect and very private being on a estate. It was great seeing deer and various birds on the property. Todd and Laura were very helpful. What was nice is the house is located in the middle of numerous restaurants and attractions. I highly reccomend a stay here.

Authentic Texas charm

Charming guest house in a perfect location...We rented this cottage for a week, and couldn't have been happier with the accommodations , location, and hospitality. The chateau is spacious (the master bath is huge), well equiped, and comfortable. Todd and Laura keep the place immaculate--not just the house, but the entire 20 acres! They are warm and welcoming hosts, and invite you to walk around the whole property.

We enjoy outdoor activities: running and birding at nearby Lakeway Park, hiking at Pedernale Falls and Hamilton Pool, nature photography at Zilker Park and Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center... However this rental is equally well suited for a more urban adventure with nearby shopping, good restaurants, and all the attractions of Austin.

They walked and explored daily, cataloged 23 different bird species on the property, and adventured all about the surrounding hill country area. Owners reserve the right to charge a larger cleaning fee, larger damage deposit and/or greater insurance coverage for stays longer than 2 days or for other reasons determined in Owners’ sole discretion.

Holiday/Event Rates (ACL, F1, SXSW, Backyard Music, Xmas, Easter, July 4, etc) may be higher in owner discretion.


INFO NEEDED. As part of the booking process, we require EACH guest's full name, email address, physical address, and cell phone number. A RESERVATION IS NOT FINAL WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION.

DIRECTIONS, ACCESS, AREA ACTIVITIES. After you book and pay, and your contact information is received and the reservation confirmed, we will send complete Directions and Access instructions, a roadmap of the property, and Lakeway Mountain's Select Summary of Surrounding Area Activities, Dining and Entertainment--identifying some of the best local options in each category.

NATURE OF ACCOMODATION AND 2 PERSON OCCUPANCY LIMIT. This rental is a private nightly accommodation. It is beautiful and welcoming, but it is not a full-service hotel or resort venue, does not provide entertainment and activities, and is not a group-gathering destination (for which different pricing would apply). OCCUPANCY AND USAGE IS LIMITED TO 2 ADULTS. Entry into the property by additional family members, friends, children or other persons is prohibited absent express written pre-authorization by Owner. SMOKING, PETS AND/OR PARTIES ARE NOT ALLOWED.

Daily maid service is not provided. All guests are required to take good care of the property.

By booking this property, you agree to the terms of the Owners complete Rental Agreement posted on the property and/or on this website. Following your booking, you may also request a copy directly from us.

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
