About Todd Beyer
We grew up in the area and after ten years ago, came back to stay. We love the Pequot Lakes and Crosslake aras and the lakes.
Todd Beyer purchased this Cabin in 1998
Why Todd Beyer chose Crosslake
We fell in love with this the first time we set foot on it. Beautiful untouched giant trees, eagles nest, deer, good fishing.

Perfect lake retreat in the wild but so close to everything!
Wonderful private property on Rush Lake. We had 7 people (3 adults, 4 tween/teen) and could have been comfortable with 2-3 more kids (in beds). We also brought our dog which was awesome... a private island for well behaved pooches and owners to explore together.! This two cabin retreat was on the rustic side as we expected and met our needs perfectly. The main cabin has a small full kitchen main living area with sleeping area and separate bedroom as well. The second cabin had two full beds and two twins (bunk bed style) this was updated with fresh flooring, paint and linens - super cute. Both cabins have bathrooms with walk-in showers.
There is a hike up stairs from the docks (there are two) but the view is great from there and we didn’t mind the exercise. Firepit- chairs and wood are already there - no need to bring your own! The owners also have both a gas grill and charcoal grill available for use which was great (I didn’t realize there was a gas grill until I got there). Another bonus was access to their washer and dryer in the “laundry cabin” - both full size.
Several options for outdoor eating at one of three tables between the two cabins...we (adults) preferred the 4 seater overlooking the lake at the main cabin. Nature abounds- we saw eagles, caught fish and watched the hummingbirds - beware of the mosquitos though!
The one day it was too hot we used the window air units and they worked perfectly well.
Close to Crosslake food joints on water/gas/bait as well as Whitefish Lake, we did just about everything we could squeeze in across the chain.
A favorite spot for the teens was either pontooning or paddle boarding to the sandbar and hanging out in the water up to their hip/ thigh. They also caught a lot of pan fish off the edge of the sandbar (as well as the dock and just about anywhere else on this lake). The big kahunas were a 28” northern pike and a 24” big mouth bass off the back side of the island (opposite dock) with our fishing boat.
Owners were easy to work with very responsive.
I want to give all zero stars so nobody else will book this place because I want to go back every year! This place was fantastic. I dont know where to even start. The owners are great to work with, the place has the cabin feel I was hoping for. It was a blast having fires, fishing all week, and just hanging out. The bugs/mosquitos were definitely out but I covered up in spray and didnt get one bite all week. The view is also gorgeous. The kayaks were fun and perfect for fishing. The stock pile of fire wood was a pleasant surprise! The sound of the loons were incredible. Again loved the place, Jill and Todd had great communication, couldn't have gone any better! Thanks
2nd time here and will be back!
This was our 2nd time here and again such an awesome vacation and so different. We had the whole island to ourselves as these are the only cabins on the island, which is large. We hiked around the island, saw a bald eagles nest, saw some newborn fawns, saw some eagles, some giant pine trees, it was like being in the wilderness. But then could hop in our boat and go to some great restaurants but mostly liked to just hang on the deck and relax. Great swimming and fishing off the dock too.
Private Piece of Paradise
The Beyer's (Todd and Jill) 2 cabins and private island were perfect for my guests and I for an unmatched Whitefish Chain getaway. The family has clearly put a lot of love and sweat equity into this property and it is reflected in their accommodating nature.
The location is great. (Near the Wharf channel and near the Beyer's private mainland access, in addition to the seclusion of your own private island.)
The cabin and lot itself are ideal for those who wish to enjoy cabin life the way it should be; relaxed and care free.
Would strongly recommend to family and friends, and would highly consider patronizing them again!
Only bit of advice for others is to have sound logistics in order..... You're on an island! : )
Most Amazing Vacation Ever!
This was one of my family's most memorable vacations. We felt like we were the only ones on the lake when we were on the island because it was so peaceful and quiet. We saw some deer and fawns on the island and several bald eagles. The swimming beach was great and the kids spent a lot of time in the water. Fishing was good off the back dock and the small pond for bass and sunnies. Lots of boating and tubing and fishing was done. In the evenings we boated to dinner a couple times, Manhattan Beach and The Wharf and Zorbaz The kids thought that was cool that we could boat to dinner! In fact, we only went to "mainland" in our car one time. The rest was all doable by boat. A good time was had by all, even the teenagers, and lots of good family togetherness. Will be back!
Located in the "lakes area" in the heart of Minnesota's Land of 10,000 Lakes, so there are LOTS AND LOTS of lakes and everything that goes along with lots of lakes. Also, dozens of golf courses within a short distance.
