Les Houches, Chamonix Valley. 2 minutes walk to amenities and ski lifts.
This apartment is a rare find in a priviledged position.
One of only a handful of apartments in the Chamonix Valley where you can ski back to the door but still have the convenience of the cable car, chair lift , restaurants, shops and bars only a 200m level walk away. You are not stuck up a mountain with no nearby facilities with this apartment.
Being located in Les Houches on the famous Kandahar run of the World Cup Ski Circuit makes this property ideal for ski holidays.
In summer, climbers of Mont Blanc and walkers of the Tour de Montblanc will find this is the perfect base camp with the access point for both only 200m away.
Or simply relax and enjoy the fabulous panorama of the Mont-Blanc chain from the large deck area and swimming pool.
The apartment is a comfortable and cosy, recently renovated basement apartment, within a larger chalet. It has its own independent entrance, accessed through the shared garden.
There are 2 seperate bedrooms. The largest bedroom can be made up as a double or twin. The smaller bedroom has a double bed only. The sofa bed in the lounge/kitchen area allows up to 6 people to stay in the apartment. The kitchen area is well equipped and there is a seperate dining area. The family bathroom has a large shower enclosure.
Outside the entrance there is a large decking area giving fabulous views of the Aiguille du Midi and Mont Blanc chain. Here you will find seating and a large gas BBQ. There is also a garden area here.
The heated outdoor pool is available June-September and shared with the residents of the chalet only. Please note it is heated by a heat exchanger and so the temperature of the water depends on the outside temperature. The apartment has its own entrance point to the pool, through the patio doors of the largest bedroom.
Parking for the property is in the public car park next to the chalet building.

About Sarah Martin
In 2003, we left the UK behind to 'live the dream' in France. We lived in this apartment while running the main house as a catered chalet. Over the years we improved the property and had many successful years in the chalet industry. In 2008 we changed focus, and so now rent out the apartment on a self catering basis.
Sarah Martin purchased this Apartment in 2003
Why Sarah Martin chose Les Houches
Location, location, location was the reason we bought this property. Right on the piste but still only 200 metres from shops, bars restaurants. So you have the convenience of skiing back to the door without the inconvenience of being 'stuck' up the mountain. The views of the Aiguille du Midi and surrounding mountains are stunning. Les Houches is a lovely, quiet village but with vibrant Chamonix nearby, you get the best of both worlds. The year round trade was the icing on the cake!
What makes this Apartment unique
Location - ski back; 2 minute walk to amenities, short drive to Chamonix; Italy and Switzerland nearby. Outdoor heated pool in the summer. Fantastic views from all the decking areas. The décor is traditional and comfortable. We strive to offer a convenient location and comfortable accommodation for a reasonable price, making a stay in this great property available to all.

Les Houche Feb 2018
The apartment is really well situated in Les Houches which is a very nice village close to Chamonix. We used it as a base to visit other ski resorts and skied in Megeve, Argientiere, & Chamonix, as well as spending some days in Les Houches. I think Les Houches might be too small a ski area for an experienced skier for a full week but it's a fantastic place to be based. The apartment itself is spacious and well equipped and I would stay there again but it could do with better heating as it wasn't a cold spell when we were there but the apartment is quite chilly in the mornings and felt damp and as we live in Sheffield we are well used to cold and damp conditions! If it was -10C or below I think it would just be too cold to stay in. It could also do with some more lighting as it is too dark in the evenings with the limited lighting to read a book and definitely a bit more crockery (some normal size bowls!?) and swap the beds as the room with the double bed is incredibly cramped with very little storage and no room for any more. I am not sure anyone over 6' would actually fit in the double bed. But as I have said it is well situated and a great base and I think it would be fab in the summer especially with the pool outside the patio doors off the back bedroom. Booking with the owner Sarah was very straightforward and her directions were absolutely spot on. The resident house sitters were really helpful, even helping us to carry our stuff in on arrival. Overall a good stay and somewhere we would be happy to book again. Just put another couple of heaters in, swap the double bed to the back bedroom, put in some more lighting and buy some normal size cereal bowls!

Lovely, perfectly located chalet.
Great stay, small but perfectly formed! Really well stocked apartment, warm, cosy and brilliantly positioned for the village and slopes. Bedrooms really nicely furnished. Village is small but absolutely perfect for a family stay. Great bars, restaurants and shops near by. Very friendly and helpful couple on arrival.
Bijou apartment in a great location for skiing into after a day on the slopes. Everything you need for cooking and having an oven is great. The enclosed hallway before you enter the apartment is good for drying ski gear. Chris and Peter the guardians are a lovely English couple and nothing is too much trouble for them.
Clean and tidy apartment with great views and very convenient. The house guardians Gillian and Clint were extremely friendly and ready with advice and recommendations. Great spot for exploring the Chamonix area and just a few minutes from both the Bellevue and Prarion cable cars. We had a brilliant summer holiday - so much to do.
Thank you for the great review. So glad you had a great holiday.
Great location, view of the mountains and valley but away from the bustle of Chamonix
Loved the outdoor space but perhaps a little snug for a family of four. Kids loved the pool and the ski slope to play on. 'Guardians' Clint and Gillian were fantastically welcoming and a font of knowledge. Already planning our next visit, Tour De Mont Blanc beckons
Thanks for the review. Glad you had a great holiday and maybe see you again for the Tour de Mont Blanc.
We stayed here end of July Family of 4 size of apartment ideal. Pool lovely. Ideal location. Regular buses to Chaminox and surrounding areas. Stunning area. Clint and Gillian(guardians of the property) were very helpful advising us of great walks and things to do. Would definitely stay here again. Fran
Thanks for the great review. So glad you had a great holiday.
This apartment is found in the village of Les Houches, which is one of the ski areas that make up the resorts of the Chamonix Valley.
For winter breaks, the property is ideally positioned at the bottom of the famous Kandahar run of the World Cup Ski Circuit. It is accessible for skiers of all abilities as both a beginner and intermediate piste lead to the apartment before the final 500m section to the door. Or take the turn to the lift and apres-ski bars.
In the summer, climbers of Mont Blanc and walkers of the Tour de Montblanc will find this is the perfect base camp, as the starting and finishing point for both is only 200m away. Or simply relax and enjoy the spectacular views of the Aiguille du Midi from the large deck area and swimming pool after a day of walking or sightseeing in Chamonix and the surrounding areas.
With this property residents do not have to compromise on convenience either as the cable car, chair lift , restaurants, shops and bars are only a 200m level walk away. With more facilites to be found in the village centre, only a 10 minute level walk away.
The popular town of Chamonix is about 6km away and is well connected by the local bus service which has regular departures from outside the cable car. Here you will find the Aiguille du Midi, the highest cable car in Europe that allows skiers/boarders to access the challenging 'Valley Blanche' - the longest off piste run in France. You can also visit the Mer de Glace via the Montenvers tramway, or take the Brevent and Flegere cable cars to access these areas and all they have to offer.
Les Houches is perfectly located to access so much more than just the french alps. A few highlights include the picturesque town of Annecy, with its canals, cobbled streets and lake, less than an hours drive away. Or how about a day in the city of Geneva, again only an hour away. A quick drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel and you arrive in the Aosta Valley where you can eat pizza in the Italian Alps. Or take a trip to Gruyere, in Switzerland to visit the cheese factory and the nearby Nestle chocolate factory.
