Ludlow / Okemo Mountain Area House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms+Den, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6), WIFI

Location: Between Killington and Okemo, Vermont, USA. (Boston 3 hours, NYC 5 hours, Woodstock 25 mins, Farm & Wilderness camps closeby). Superfast fiber optic internet.

Accomodations: Contemporary Home, 2 Beds, 3 Baths Den/Office, Sleeps 6

A light filled mountain retreat overlooking pond on 22 acres. Very comfortable for 2 couples or a family, can accommodate more. Located in historic Plymouth, birthplace and resting place of President Calvin Coolidge.

Enjoy skiing/sledding in Winter, listening to peepers in Spring, hiking in Summer, beautiful colors in Fall. Gather round the fire pit at night and watch the stars come out or stay in by the fireplace: your choice.

In Winter Plymouth is a great ski location - minutes from Okemo and Killington. It's 3.5 hour drive from CT, 3 hours from Boston making it perfect for a weekend skiing. You can choose to ski at Killington, the Beast of the East, or the more family friendly Okemo resort. It's a 20 minute drive to Killington Skyeship or Okemo Jackson Gore. Snowmobiling and VAST trails are on the doorstep. The house sits on a great hill for tobogganing.

We love listening to the peepers in the spring. In summer it is a great escape with the charming town of Woodstock just 25 minutes away and 10 minutes to Farm & Wilderness.

In Summer hunt for berries on the property: blackberry, wild strawberry and mountain blueberry. Explore Plymouth and get a glimpse of Vermont as it used to be in Coolidge's time. Pan for gold down the hill at Plymouth Five Corners, once the site of a thriving town during the gold rush but now taken back by nature.

Great food and restaurants are close at hand: local organic produce most of the year, artisanal cheeses, local beers...even local wine.

The house is well maintained, with quality furniture, superfast WIFI, and a spectacular open plan living/kitchen/dining area on the second floor. There is a central wood burning fireplace and lots of windows with views over the mountains and into the woods. Glass doors lead onto the deck and an outdoor barbecue. The deck is a seating/dining area in the summer months. On the same level there is a separate second lounge/ den/ office area with large windows and views and an adjacent shower room. This room has a queen sofa bed that converts to queen bed and two of the living room sofas convert to single beds.

The two bedrooms are on the first floor. The master bedroom with queen bed has a bathroom en suite. The second bedroom with queen bed has a bathroom a few feet down the hall. The laundry room is on this level.

The attached garage is a real plus in Winter. No clearing snow off the car in the morning, drive straight in walk into the house in the evening. NB YOU NEED 4 WHEEL DRIVE TO ACCESS THE PROPERTY IN THE WINTER. The driveway and the road to the house are steep. The road and driveway are plowed but especially during a storm you will need 4 wheel drive.

The house is supplied with organic linens for the beds and bathroom, paper products, cleaning supplies, and toiletries.

A mile off the beaten track and set in 22 acres of yard and forest this modern contemporary home allows comfortable, easy living for a family or group in a light filled space. We don’t allow pets in this house.

A fantastic, private and beautiful mountain retreat close by Okemo and Killington

  • 5 of 5

Not only was this a beautiful home nestled on a winding mountain road with stunning mountain views on all sides, but the owner has taken great care to deliver a B&B level experience, with games, bath salts, and other homey touches throughout. The house is well designed for a family, providing plenty of room for privacy and bathrooms with showers (3). But the setting is what I'd most highly recommend. Large windows on all sides look out on fields, small pond, and mountain vistas. No window covering necessary. We came to ski, but truly hated leaving the house each morning. We'll be back!

Everything was perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Our second trip to the Plymouth house for a weekend ski trip did not disappoint. Same as our prior visit, the house was immaculately clean, and the holiday wreaths and garland were a lovely touch. We skied by day at Killington about 20 minutes away, and enjoyed cozy nights by the fire place. The plymouth house is a perfect getaway nestled in the mountains of Vermont and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Jill is wonderful to work with and I would definitely recommend the house without hesitation!

Wonderful weekend in Vermont

  • 5 of 5

We returned to this wonderful house in the hills for a weekend’s skiing, and once again were really impressed by the cleanliness of the house and attention to detail shown by the owners. The small written instructions around the house cater for every eventuality, including how to light the log fire. There were holiday lights, garlands and wreaths scattered around and we felt really cozy as we sat watching Holiday Inn on the big TV screen.

We tried a local restaurant (The Worthy Inn) in Woodstock, as recommended, and the food and beers were excellent. Well worth a visit, and Woodstock town looked beautiful in the snow.

Once again, we were lucky to have fantastic skiing conditions – two feet of powder snow twenty minutes away at Killington - and it was a pleasure to come back to such a warm and inviting home at the end of each day, thank you.

Mountain Home

  • 4 of 5

The four of us enjoyed our visit in Vermont. The home was a little off the beaten path as we left each day to explore Vermont. We found that we ate late lunch or early dinner out so we did not have to drive back out at night. Even though we live in snow country, I don't think I would have liked to drive that road in the snow at night. The home was nice, but not really suitable for more than four people. The carpet could have used a good cleaning. We were not supposed to use paper to start a fire, but there were no fire starters as stated in the instructions for using the fire place. All in all the home was comfortable, just not what we expected. Thank you Jill for sharing your home with us.

Owner's Response: Hi Pat, Thanks for submitting a VRBO review for your stay. I am sorry you didn't find the firestarters in their home by the fireplace. I wish you had called so I could have directed you to them. And I'm sorry that you didn't find the carpet clean enough - it was professionally cleaned a few months ago. Not a good color for a rental home but a quality carpet we chose when the house was our home. I'm glad you enjoyed Vermont. JILL

Wonderful House in the Vermont Woods

  • 5 of 5

We stayed two weeks in this lovely house. Up in the woods above Plymouth on a dirt road, the house is surrounded by trees, with a meadow in front and a cleared area off the back of the house. The interior of the house is wonderful - very open and light-filled, well-designed...probably the nicest interior of any house we've rented. A little porch off the back is great for grilling, soaking up the sun, and eating or reading. The lower level bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and very comfortable. The interior details are really tasteful...definitely NOT the typical ski chalet/condo rental. Also the house was well-stocked with various supplies, and very clean. There's a two car garage. An upper area in the back behind the house has a little outdoor fireplace and chairs; we spent many evenings roasting marshmallows, drinking wine, watching the sky turn dark while the fire quietly burned. While there are others who live on the road, you never hear nor see anyone, so it's extremely private. This is the first house we've rented in Vermont where at the end of our stay we said to each other, "we definitely want to come back." We highly recommend it.

Great Home

  • 5 of 5

My daughter, myself and future son-in-law thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home. Everything was just at it appeared on-line. The house was not lacking anything..we enjoyed the fire pit as well as the fireplace while we played scrabble which was one of many games available as well as numerous movies. The location was perfect for us and would definitely recommended renting this house.
