Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + 2 baths with mountain and valley views (sleeps 6)

This tranquil 3BD/2BA home is nestled in the trees on several acres in the Sangre de Cristo mountains at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac that backs to a large open greenbelt. The magnificent views stretch from the forest to towering mountain peaks and out to the wide open San Luis Valley.

Our 2 story home has 2 bedrooms upstairs (1 with queen, 1 with 2 twin beds), and 1 bedroom downstairs (queen). There are 2 bathrooms (one on each level) and the upstairs bath has a steam shower. It is a peaceful, beautiful home, nicely decorated, with an open floor plan and many outdoor areas to enjoy.

Sip your morning coffee on the downstairs deck watching deer wander through your backyard. In the evening, enjoy a glass of wine from the covered balcony, watching the sun set over the valley and the San Juan mountains. At night step out on the upstairs deck and have your breath taken away as you gaze at an infinity of stars above the mountain peaks. Later, take a steam shower and relax in front of the fire after cooking dinner in the open-floor plan gourmet kitchen.

Our home has everything you need to provide a relaxing, rejuvenating retreat, or to simply be your comfortable base camp from which to venture into the great outdoors.

About The Owner

We love the mountains and getting away from a busy life to recharge in nature.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Colorado

The first time we each came to Crestone we were overwhelmed by the serenity and the beauty. It just felt right to have a retreat in this magnificent place.

What makes this house unique

The best thing is the quiet, the mountains stretching all around as far as the eye can see. It is wonderful to look out the window and see deer walking by. Sometimes I just want to sit in front of the fire watching the natural world go by, without leaving the house. It is always wonderful to arrive and difficult to leave.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great trip and really enjoyed your house.

It is really really spectacular.

A peaceful place for a family retreat

  • 5 of 5

My wife, grown children and spouses came to Crestone for a long weekend to celebrate my 60th birthday, and we couldn't have had a better time. The property is at the end of cut de sac, quiet and with balconies and patios sited to allow enjoyment of the sunrise and sunset. The kitchen is well furbished (we cooked in mostly, including a short Seder), the showers allow 6 of us to take showers after our hikes and the beds were comfortable. We explored the Sand Dunes, the Willow Creek trail and the Valley View Hot Springs, all of which exceeded expectations. Thanks for sharing this special place with us.

Beautiful, magical place.

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been more pleased with our stay in this beautiful home. Breathtaking vistas of the San Luis Valley and surrounding mountains, with numerous decks and balconies from which to enjoy. Wonderful layout and nice, functional kitchen. Steam shower A definite plus! The house more than adequately accommodated my family of five adults, with room to spare. I highly recommend.

Property was clean and impressive

  • 5 of 5

Loved the various balconies and patios to get several different angles at the mountain view. From the master the morning sunrise was breathtaking and the home had all the essentials to enjoy some snowed in time :)

Beautiful house with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

Loved the house. David, the handyman, was very helpful in recommending places to see. The house was beautiful. We woke up to the most beautiful sunrises and even made a snowman. Thanks Michelle, we will definitely be back!

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

This lovely, well equipped home has two second floor open porches with magnificent views of both the valley and the mountains. The house was immaculate with comfortable beds with beautiful views from each bedroom and plenty of towels. The kitchen is well equipped with top of the line appliances. The house is well suited for families, three bedrooms sleep five comfortably or a couple looking for a romantic getaway.

The local town is very small with a tiny food store and an organic market. It would be a good idea to bring supplies with you. The new brewery restaurant in town served a nice menu of vegan and meat and fish offerings. Pizza can be had at the Bhutan restaurant. However, there are no other restaurants nearby.

The mountains, hiking trails are challenging, the wildlife abundant and visits to the spiritual centers are not to be missed, as well as the Great Sand Dunes National Park which is an hour drive.

I would highly recommend this home and would return to it while visiting family.
