Lovely Property with everything you need.
I really cannot rate this property highly enough. Facilities are wonderful. Lou and Glen are on hand to help with anything and everything without being interfering.
Pool was always a perfect temperature and cleaned every day. Bbq was great and the pizza oven was just amazing. Glen gave a quick demo so you can be confident in using it. It's these touches that make you realise the difference between good and great.
Really couldn't have asked for any more. 4 adults and a 10 month old. We had plenty of space. You could easily have doubled our party size and still been perfectly comfortable.
The property looks even better than the pictures suggest. Great mix of modern with rustic features.
The area has plenty to do. Canoeing down the river, visiting the caves. There's even a man made beach about 10 minutes away. Lovely day out.
One thing I would say, if you're arriving late Saturday like we did. Make sure you visit a supermarket on route from the airport. There are no shops open past 7pm locally. Fortunately for us, Lou ordered us a couple of pizzas from the local takeaway to see us through. Another example of their great hosting.
Overall its an absolute 10/10 experience. Nothing more can be said except a huge thank you to Lou and Glen.
Our fantastic holiday
We are a family of four (twins of 6) and we had a really wonderful holiday at this gite made especially good by the owners Louise and Glen, who made us feel very welcome, to the point that Jamie and Alice made homemade pizzas one evening with Archie, their son and we sat and drank wine with them.! They couldn't have done enough to make us feel at home. We even had the luxury of having Kallista babysit for us, so we were able to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary.
The gite is beautifully decorated throughout and very clean and has a well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable beds too. !!
I would highly recommend this gite, it is peaceful and quiet and a great base for exploring the beautiful countryside, rivers and towns .
Of all the trips we did, the canoeing was the best. Thank you Louise and Glen and I'm not surprised you are fully booked.
A lovely property in beautiful countryside
We would recommend this property without hesitation. The house is very modern, clean and well equipped and lives up to the description on the website. Louise recommended a lovely 2 hour walk starting from the house, which we did with our 10 year old son on bike (kindly loaned to us by the family). We used this property to explore the Vezere region as we had visited the Dordogne on previous visits, however it is within easy reach of many of the sites around Sarlat. As a family we particularly enjoyed Le Roc St Christoph, St Leon, canoeing along the Vezere and Les Eyzies. Further afield we would recommend Marqueyssac gardens which have lovely views across the Dordogne as well as plenty of interest for children (and teenagers).
When we were looking for a place to stay in the beginning of the year, this accomodation stood out from all the other offers on the internet. It defintely had the X-factor we were looking for!
We, a Dutch family with two boys ages 6 and 11, stayed at this property for two weeks in August. The description on the internet of the house, surroundings, location etc. were all spot-on. All of our expectations were met and we had a great holiday! Our kids enjoyed the space they had to play outside: swimming, playing badminton, jumping on the trampoline,
playing soccer. They also enjoyed a lot playing with Archie (their 8-year old son).
The house is located very nicely on a hill and close enough to a local boulangerie and Intermarche supermarket (with a car of course). It is located very well with respect to sights to see and things to do like the breathtaking Gouffre de Padirac, awesome Chateaus (suggestion: Milandes, Castelnaud), relaxing Gabares (boats) on the Dordogne, sportive Kanoeing,
exciting adventure parks (Indian Forest, Dino Parc) and educational Chocolate museum just to mention a few.
What we also liked was the feeling of peace and tranquility in the area of the house (no need to lock your car or door!).
Our hosts (Louise, Glen, Eileen and kids) were very friendly and helpful and prepared a lovely welcome dinner for us.
So, if you are looking for a place to stay in the Dordogne, stop looking and start booking this place!
Lovely place to stay and lovely hosts!
My husband and I recently stayed at this property with our ten month old son. We spent one week there, arriving on 20th June 2010. Even before we arrived, we were extremely impressed by the communication from the owner. Louise always responded promptly to our e-mails and offered helpful suggestions for planning our trip. From the moment we got there, we were greeted warmly and made to feel at home. The accommodation is lovely and we were so pleased with our choice. If we would have stayed elsewhere, I genuinely don't think we would have had the same experience; as Louise and Glen suggested some lovely places to visit (which we wouldn't have tried had they not been recommended to us). The property is very well situated for getting around the region, and the setting is peaceful but not too far away from civilisation! I could go on and on about our wonderful stay at this property, but to keep it brief I will simply say that if you book this accommodation, you will not be disappointed. We have now fallen in love with the area and will most definitely be back next year. Louise, Glen and their children Calista and Archie are the perfect hosts. They went over and above what we would have expected from them, especially for a self catering property. We left their property very reluctantly, and felt like we were saying goodbye to friends. They deserve every success with this property and we hope it leads on to bigger and better things for them.
Amazing place and surroundings
What a stunning place! Beautiful house situated in the heart of amazing scenery overlooking the hills of the dordogne. The house was very clean and well equipped, having stayed in france a number of times this is definitley top of our list. Louise and glen were very friendly and always happy to help with anything. We will definitley be booking again next year, what a fabulous place - would reccomend to anyone.
