We loved our stay at the Egret's Nest! The home was unique, comfortable, and was well equipped with everything we needed during our stay. The views from the deck are simply amazing. Hearing the sound of the waves crashing was so relaxing and lulled us to sleep each night. The house was the perfect retreat after a long day of sightseeing in San Fran. It was only 15 minutes from the airport, about 30 mins into downtown, and about an hour to Muir Woods. Thank you, Doug, for making our first trip to San Fran unforgettable!!!
We walked along the beach and ate at several great local restaurants. The house was wonderful with the ocean waves a stones throw away. We will be back
Our family traveled across the country from Florida after searching a long time before deciding on a vacation rental. When we arrived, the home forced our busy family to relax and exhale. Breathtaking. It was beach rustic with nostalgic modern charm and a great place to reconnect. The location was close to the city, wine county, Muir Woods, Half Moon Bay and Mavericks famous surf break. There was also much adventure in Pacifica, including Mazza Castle, scenic overlooks, municipal pier, and much more. It was a pleasure cooking meals in the well appointed kitchen with lots of grocery nearby to choose from. Spent hours on the front deck watching pier fishing, the boardwalk, chimnea fire at night and most amazing the tubing waves reminded us of North Shore Hawaii. We would visit again without a doubt and glad we pushed the 'book now' button on this one!. Doug was so very accommodating. Thank you
This is the second time I've been to this house. It's a great stay. I would recommend highly.
Six of us stayed here over the Christmas holiday -- five adults and one child -- and it was perfect for us. The bedrooms are downstairs and are spaced so that it feels private. You don't feel like you're "next door" to anyone. The living areas are upstairs and were just the right size for our group. We even had my husband's family over for Christmas dinner--which made a total of 14 people there for a couple of hours--and between the seating at the dining table and the sofas in the living room, we had enough room for everyone and it didn't feel too crowded. Even with Christmas tree, which was an unexpected touch, it was perfect. Additionally, they had a baby gate available for our use, so the toddler wouldn't hurt himself on the stairs. Just another thoughtful touch that made travelling with a toddler that much easier.
The kitchen was well-stocked and had all the pots and pans needed to make a nice holiday meal. Granted, we got ours pre-cooked and just heated it up, but we could have made it ourselves if we'd wanted. Beds are very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Washer/dryer worked well and came in handy, and there was detergent available for our use.
As far as location, I can say that having visited the Bay Area every year for the past 10 years, we have stayed in a variety of neighborhoods. This is by far the best. Not only are you right on the beach where you can wake up to the sounds of the ocean each day, but you're also just a few minutes drive from the city. We visited Union Square on Christmas Even and we made it there in just 20 minutes! There are plenty of small shops and grocery stores around for anything you may need.
The home, itself, is beautiful. The wood siding, the outdoor shower, and the sunken jacuzzi tub scream BEACH HOUSE! My husband, being from San Fran, also enjoyed the panoramic photos along the wall in the dining room that show a then-and-now view of the city.
All in all, every detail is considered in this house. I have only stayed in a handful of vacation rental properties, but this one far exceeded all my experience and expectations. As I previously mentioned, the owners put up some Christmas decorations for us, including a tree, since we were there for the holidays. This was such a lovely and unexpected touch and it made our visit even more memorable. I highly recommend this home.
