2 Bedroom, 1 Bath Upstairs Apartment
We met in New Orleans in 1994 at a party at Tipitina's and the rest is history! We happily relocated here from Atlanta and San Diego.
Gina purchased this Apartment in 1995
Why Gina chose Touro
While researching family history, we toured this home built by a great-great grandfather and made an offer. This house needed us to restore it, and we embraced it's varied history. New Orleans has a funky side to appeal to anyone. Once you live here, it's hard to imagine living anywhere else.
What makes this Apartment unique
As we have peeled away layers of history during our renovation, stories have emerged and we would love to share them with you! You become a unique part of our home, because your rental helps us to continue repairs and maintenance with an eye to historical authenticity.

The absolute best place to stay in the Garden District.
We took our two little girls (6 and 4) for a New Orleans adventure. The location was outstanding. Everything is either a short walk or a short drive away. The best part was the impeccability of the property. Everything we could think of wanting was there and available. The space was historic and yet had a very modern kitchen and bathroom. The girls loved it so much we had trouble getting them out of the house to go exploring. Our host was so thoughtful and the handmade guides with walking maps, attractions and restaurants were the best. My wife and I are already starting to plan our next trip . Just the two of us next time.
What a great place...and what a gracious host! Helpful w/o being intrusive...clean place w/o being sterile or stuffy...quiet w/o being too removed from all the sights. Honestly one of the best VRBO experiences we've ever had!
Gina was above and beyond the best host I've ever had at any VRBO stay. The house and neighborhood were perfect. Gina and her family were so kind and welcoming and she was a wealth of information about the city, history, ideas of things things to do and very patient with all of my many inquiries.
It's always fun to talk about the things you love, right? You seem like a guy who would have a great time wherever you go, Michael... whenever there is a change of schedule or weather, you just roll with it and fill your days with great alternatives! I like to recommend visitors have an approach like yours: have several ideas, and if things change, you're ready with Plan B. I hope you can come visit again; you seem like a good fit with New Orleans ~
Incredible host, Ideal location, Beautiful, Clean, Well-appointed historic home
Spent a week of April vacation with our 2 boys (ages 2.5 and 6). Perfect location 2-3 minute walk from the St. Charles Street Car. Our 2 year old would have been content with riding the street cars as an exclusive activity during our stay, but the rest of us were interested in a little more. The home was ideal for us. Located on the border of the Garden District/Touro, steps from Magazine St we were easily able to do a walking tour of the garden district, window shop and eat along Magazine St, take the street car to the Audobon Park or the French Quarter and be back before the rest of the city got ready for nightly revelries not suited for small children.
Having vacationed at a number of VRBO and Air B&B locations, Gina is hands down the best hostess we've encountered. Not only is she a great ambassador and guide to the city, even keeping us informed about nightly free concerts and outdoor activities, but we arrived back to the house one day to find she had left a chest of Mardi Gras swag: doubloons, beads, and swords for the boys to play with (she may have later regretted this given the loud duels that subsequently took place in the living room).
Would highly recommend!
Emily, I was absolutely delighted to read your review! People come to New Orleans for so many different reasons, but like you hint, it's often for grown-up activities. We raised our family in New Orleans, so having young visitors is special, because there are so many exciting activities for kids, too. I'm glad the boys felt like this "home away from home" was a great place to rest... and play!
A special place
The accommodations were perfect for those who love architecture, character and older homes. They really knew how to build then, the walls are thick! We could not hear a peep from one of our party who is known for heavy snoring. Everything was clean and neat and perfect! Gina is a kind hostess who really added to our stay. She gave us a lovely in-person welcoming and continued to check on us and answer all our New Orleans questions. The area is lovely to stroll in and quiet.
Thank you, Simone! It was fun for me to visit with you a bit about some of the flowers in the neighborhood. I agree that our area is a great place to wander and enjoy pretty architecture, and I'm happy to know that you enjoyed some of that old craftsmanship during your stay with us!
Best vacation rental ever
We've rented quite a few vacation rentals from Boston to NYC to Illinois tree houses and more and this one was the best. Gina, our host, was excellent and made everything easy to find and use so that we felt right at home. The house has a lot of charm and the rooms were nice sizes. It had a washer/dryer which was convenient and we really enjoyed all te space. The neighborhood is great too - very walking friendly with the streetcar nearby and groceries and the shops/restaurants on Magazine. We have normally stayed in the Marigny when we go to NOLA but this place was better.
Thanks, Kevin! I think every neighborhood has something charming to offer, and the Marigny has a wonderfully funky vibe, but I just dearly love our neighborhood, and it always makes me happy to know that our guests agree. Walkability is huge for me... I never want to live anywhere without a corner grocer, again! (I've been spoiled) I think our location strikes a balance between strolling through the historic and stately, or getting lost in an antiques mall and having dozens of cafes, shops and restaurants from which to choose. Something for everyone. I'm so glad you and your kids felt "at home" with us!
