ONE WEEK MINIMUM STAY ONLY Sunday to Sunday
We open the last week in May
Nestled on over 400 acres of land, Tamarack Lodge is surrounded by trees, trails, and water. The Lodge is a short five minutes from downtown Old Forge, off of Route 28, situated on a private land nearly a mile back from the road. The driveway is a spectacle of fern trees and foliage bringing you to a modern yet woodsy lodge.
Tamarack Lodge has four separate bedrooms adjacent to the great room. There is a modern kitchen so that all of the conveniences of home are right there for you, including gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and all the necessary cooking utensils. The large screened-in, furnished porch overlooks a private lake where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset. The master bedroom has a queen bed and half bath. The other bedrooms contain two twin size beds in each room. The stone fireplace, satellite television, rustic furniture, games and a gathering table, not to mention the beautiful wooden bar in the great room is cozy and the perfect setting for relaxing indoors. There is a 120 foot private, partially sandy beach right off of the porch, and the 40 acre lake is the perfect place for anyone who enjoys swimming off the dock, kayaking, row-boating or fishing. There is also a large charcoal grill on the large deck, perfect for grilling up burgers on a sunny afternoon with family and friends.
***There is a ONE week minimum stay (Saturday to Saturday).
***NO PETS please.
***You are responsible for garbage removal.
This home was built by our father and grandfather and hold many special memories for each of us and our children and grand-children. We take great pride in the history and the happiness it brings to all. There is something wonderful about the fresh air in the Adirondacks that gives you the "leave the stress at home" feeling. We love sharing this feeling with people!
My large group of friends had an absolutely phenomenal week at the Tamarack Lodge. The house has HUGE common spaces, which were great for group dinners, game nights, and morning coffee on the screened-in porch. All the amenities we could want (including a fantastic big grill and a rowboat) were in-house. This is a true Adirondack experience: no wifi, limited cell reception, very dark/quiet at night, and lots of animal sightings (though not in the house - the mouse problem mentioned in earlier reviews seems to have been totally ameliorated). This was a great place to get off the grid for a week, but is also just a ten minute drive into Old Forge for grocery stores, a library, reception, Water Safari, etc.
We brought a few kayaks and loved using those - the lake is gorgeous (great for swimming, too). We did a lot of hiking on nearby trails and enjoyed stargazing and bonfires at night. The place was cleaned and in good shape on our arrival.
As a side note for any future renters: make sure you buy lots of water!! The taps run with lake water (as we were thankfully told by a housekeeper on our way in).
We hope we'll get to visit Tamarack again soon!
Yikes! Should have listened to previous reviewer. Mice everywhere, even one running across my daughter in bed at night! We killed 4 with traps and many more still causing havoc. A beautiful place if you like mice.
What a great place!!!
My wife and I enjoyed the serenity this extremely private setting has to offer. The waterfall not only provides a great visual backdrop to the place but also soothing sounds to serenade you to sleep at night. Two streams, and spacious decks surround the large cabin. Our children fell in love with the place as soon as they stepped foot on the property. This place made our family get-together very special time.
We would have no concerns renting this property again and will look forward to doing it again.
My husband and 3 girl's have been going to Old Forge for years we love the area. I happen to come across this cabin and it looked so relaxing so I figured we would try it out instead of the small cabins with no privacy in old forge. We LOVED it we stayed two separate times this summer with 2 different sets of friends and they loved it also. We loved how private it was, we relaxed so much and the kids we could not keep them out of the beautiful private lake. We brought our kayaks and enjoyed the views. We plan on staying there every year.
what a wonderful place. the house was very private, clean, and spacious. It had all the amenities of a modern home but tucked away so you felt like you were in the wilderness. great location and well worth the money spent (great value). Owners were extremely pleasant to deal with.
Can not say enough about how wonderful the lodge is. Breath taking waterfall. Could not ask for anything more. Only suggestion is label light switches. After figuring out which switch went to what you forgot.where you started.
