By far, the natural beauty is considered the most stunning attraction of Hatteras Island — from Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge to Hatteras Island National Seashore. One of the wonderful features that keep vacationers returning to Hatteras Island year after year is the unpopulated nature of the beaches. You can pull over on a deserted stretch of NC Highway 12, or simply walk the one minute from the Ivey Coast Beach House and find a piece of unspoiled shoreline all to yourself. During the fall and spring months, it’s possible to enjoy a long walk along the beach without encountering another person. The beautiful, pristine condition of the beaches ranks the Cape Hatteras National Seashore as one of the best beaches in America, and a routine entry on many top beaches lists, including 'America's Top 10 Beaches' by the well known expert, Dr. Beach. On Hatteras Island, you’ll find no busy boardwalks, no restaurants or bars set up right on the beach. You'll simply find miles of sand and blue Atlantic Ocean with Dolphins swimming close to shore.

On the southern end of Hatteras Island where the Ivey Coast Beach House is located, Hatteras Village is known for its ties to offshore fishing. The village borders Hatteras Inlet, giving recreational and commercial fishing boats an easy route to the Gulf Stream and the inshore fishing grounds. Hatteras has several marinas where commercial and recreational boats dock, making this a great place from which to book an offshore charter. Hatteras also offers a lot more shopping these days, from art galleries to clothing boutiques. One of the Outer Banks’ newest attractions, the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, is located here. The 'free' ferry to Ocracoke Island leaves from Hatteras Village.

The most well-known Hatteras attractions is the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, but other popular sites will get you up close and personal with the Native Americans who were the real first inhabitants of these island, teach you about how locals predicted weather years ago and about the courageous men from the U.S. Life Saving Service who went to the aid of hundreds of shipwreck victims. The island attractions are either free or charge a very modest fee. Only a short distance off Hatteras Island there are other wonderful places to visit, such as the Wright Brothers National Memorial and the North Carolina Aquarium. There is more to do here than you could possibly do in one summer! See our Attractions and Events pages to check out all the possibilities!

**Pool Heat is available for $350 for the week or $50 per day, plus NC taxes. For the daily rate the days must be consecutive with only one start and one end date allowed per week. The outdoor temp (including the overnight low) must be 65 degrees or higher to run the pool heat.

**A 6.75% North Carolina Sales Tax and a 6% County Occupancy Tax are required on all rental rates and are not included in the prices below.

**House cleaning upon check out, bath towels and sheets are included in the prices below, unless otherwise indicated. Beach towels are not provided, and we recommend you bring your own.

***The hot tub is open from March through November. However, off-season the Hot Tub can be de-winterized for a fee of $125 fee to prep the pool out of season. The pool is open from April - October.

Amazing house and stay, even in the off-season!

  • 5 of 5

We selected this house because of the numerous great reviews. Everything you read here is true. It looks like the weeks sell out quickly so next year we will jump on the reservations as soon as they become available. We enjoyed the peaceful walks on the beach. There was NO ONE on the beach and a deeded access to it via 1 minute walk. I think some beach front houses have longer walks to the beach than this home. We could see and hear the ocean which is very therapeutic. Plus the price is less than half the price of the beach front houses. Though some restaurants are closed in the off-season which is when we stayed, some of the best are still open. We enjoyed getting away from the 20 degree weather in the NorthEast and enjoying the 25-35 degree difference here in the Hatteras. Though it wasn’t warm the weekend we stayed at Ivey Coast, it was a lot warmer than New Jersey. We were looking for a relaxing vacation and even with five kids it was still relaxing. Kids had fun using the pool table and XBOX 360 but several games were too scratched to play, I would bring your own with you if you have some. The pool table was very high quality, all shots went straight. Pool sticks were all level as well. The land is flat all around, next time I’ll bring my kids bikes so they can practice riding. Around our house it’s too hilly. We really enjoyed the hot tub. The pool wasn’t open so the hot tub was a great bonus. If you stay in the winter months, pay a little extra for the hot tub, it’ll be worth it. The house was extremely clean and the neighborhood was nice. Bedding was top notch with comfortable sheets and blankets. We had eight of us and there were 3 bedrooms that were not used. Family room and kitchen were very bright, day or night. We enjoyed the Sauna, really who else has a sauna? No one, what an extra, it smelled, looked and felt very new. It was nice after getting out of the hot tub to relax in the Sauna. Kids tried to get in the Sauna, please don’t let any kids under 13 in the Sauna, they will end up getting burnt on the heater. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities but an ice cream scooper!  There were at least 16 bowls and plates. The dishwasher was also very big but takes a very long time, plan accordingly. The washer and dryer were super big and looked brand new. You could easily do twice the load of a normal washer and dryer. I wish I could afford to take 2 week vacations to stay here more. Thank you!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review Mark. We love going down to the house in the off season also. We usually have the hot tub open until late in the year and it's included in the base price, unless we have to turn it on after we've closed it down mid-winter. The sauna is a big hit with our family also. We did upgrade the heater and electronics recently with a Nordic grade unit, so it definitely does the job. We'll take a look at the X-Box disks when we're down there in a few weeks. We can sometimes repair them with the disk cleaner we have at the house, but sometimes we just have to replace them when they get too damaged. We'll also look into finding/replacing the ice cream scoop. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope you'll join us again! Take care.

Wonderful house for a family or group

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Hatteras at this home with 3 generations of our family. There were plenty of things to do in the home with the pool table sauna and games. Bedrooms were laid out nicely with nice access to bathrooms. We also enjoyed the beach and the proximity to restaurants and stores in Hatteras. The house was well equipped with attention to detail and the owners were very accommodating. They even helped us to get a fight ordered that some of our group wanted to watch. Next time we are in Hatteras we hope to stay at Ivey Coast again! Thanks Karen and Robert!

Amazing Hatteras Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Robert and Karen were the best from the beginning. From the booking process up to check-in and even during the stay anything I needed they could help me out. The property maintenance company they use were also a great help! The house is beautiful and my traveling group enjoyed everything they had to offer us, we were a large group and the size of the house was perfect and felt like no one was on top of each other! The house is within a two minute walk to the beach which made our evening/nightly bonfires a blast they even provided us with our permit incase we needed one. Located in Hatteras Village are a few small town stores which made forgetting anything a quick drive away. We really enjoyed the bikes! I would definitely stay here again!

Doyle Family Beach Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We have a family of 13, three sons, three daughter-in-laws, five grand children! Ivey Coast Beach House has all the needs to take care of this number of people with the right number of bedrooms fit for the children and great bedrooms for the adults. Kitchen facilities were very adequate. All beds were very comfortable. The swimming pool & hot tub were used every day and were a great asset to the entire week. I would recommend this Beach House to everyone that would like to have a great visit at the Village of Hatteras.

I loved your place. It was wonderful.

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time eating at various places through the week. My family and I enjoyed the places of history, the beaches and the walks. My daughter was able to do her runs for her next marathon with out having any problems with safety issues. We enjoyed the facilities at our house. Beyond my expectations. However my son-in-law would have wanted a dumb waiter to carry up the groceries.

Owner's Response: Hello Phyllis. It is always great to hear that we've exceeded expectations! We've checked into the price of a dumb waiter a couple of times (we don't like carrying up groceries either) so perhaps we'll get one eventually. Please do come back to Hatteras Village again. Take care.

What a fantastic week!

  • 5 of 5

Hey Robert and Karen,

We had such an amazing time at your home during our family vacation week. Our kids, their wives/husbands, and their kids all loved everything about the entire week. Since getting back home, our little grand-daughter (2 yrs. old) has been saying, "Go back to beach house and play in water!"

Can't thank you enough for having such a beautiful place for us to stay. When we were deciding to book, I looked at your reviews (I am the family tour guide and planner) and those, plus your own description of your house sold me on your property, and we did not have even one doubt that is where we needed to go. Everything exceeded our expectations, and was sparkling clean when we arrived. And what a fully equipped rental kitchen!!!

We did treat your house like it was our own, and left things nice for your cleaning crew to come in and get things ready for the next guests.

Our personal favorites about your home are too many to list, but the pool was used several times every day, as well as the cabanas.

Since we were a large family group, it was great to have three private floors. Since the pool table was on the ground floor, we assigned the parents and little kids to the middle floor, which worked out great, since it was quiet and had everything they needed. Our younger sons and wives, who do not have kids yet, spent the week on the "Party Floor" since they were staying up later.

The third floor was amazing and was where everybody spent a lot of time, since the main kitchen was up there, as well as the family room and big dining table. (Plus private bedroom and bathroom space for us - Grammy and Pop Pop). And we absolutely loved the screened in porch with the little picnic table for the kids. It was such a safe place for them to eat and play, and yet still be outside. We did take some heavy mailing tape and secured the screened in porch door, because our toddler grand-daughter is an escape artist. Also, got so much use out of the island work station in the kitchen. Since we were making some home made meals, everybody ended up hanging out around there.

We have booked a few vacations through VRBO, and they have never disappointed us.

We will be back, once we can figure out everybody's schedules again, they are spread out these days, and all have different jobs.

Again, thank you for a wonderful family vacation at your home.
