WATERFRONT LAKE RETREAT within a few minutes from golf, Lake Barkley Lodge State Park and Marina which offers public beach, indoor/outdoor pool, fitness center, waterfront family restaurant, marina with boat/jet ski rentals, waterfront grill & ice cream shop.

Enjoy outdoor living on a 450 square foot lake front deck and wrap-around decking. This 1600 square foot getaway boasts three bedrooms (2 Fulls, 1 Queen, 1 Queen, 2 Twins), 2 baths, and open family room/kitchen area with cathedral ceilings and gas log fireplace. Loft area with view of lake through wall of windows. Sleeps 6-8 people. Private covered dock with electric and water.

PLEASE NOTE: The water level at Lake Barkley drops during winter season so that the private dock is inaccessible between the following periods: Labor Day Weekend - Memorial Day Weekend.

This lake house holds a special place and very dear to me, therefore I work hard to keep it well maintained and in working order. It is close to Lake Barkley Lodge, on the water restaurant, marina, and Boots Randolph Golf Course.

Wonderful cabin in a very scenic environment

I would like to share our experience with this cabin. We spent a few days before the new year eve in this house. We found it spacious, clean with all amenities you need for a great vacation such as a big grill. The house is located over a scenic lake and forest. I love this place :)

Nice property, clean and quiet.

The property was nice and had all the necessary accommodations. Renters should have a boat or plan to rent one from a local marina. Lake Barkley State Park is beautiful! Lots of deer. We enjoyed fun on the water, hiking trails and horseback riding.

Very disappointing. Would not recommend for this price

We came to Barkley lake on a much needed family vacation. We were welcomed by the lovely neighbors next door. Then we went inside.

The home was full of mice droppings throughout the kitchen, cabinets, and drawers. I was given a heads up a few hours before arriving by the owner that there could be dead mice in traps. So I did expect a small problem. Not realizing the place was unsanitary from this problem. She told me it had been cleaned the day before and had no apologies for this. I found it disgusting and had to start our vacation by deep cleaning the kitchen.

The pictures of the home are very dated. The interior was nice and did look the same but not the outside seating. The top deck is deteriorated. The screened in area below can only be reached by several outside stairs that are in the picture. I only mention this because my husband has a hard time with stairs. The porch was not nice inside and had an animal that had nested in the couch. The area was very dusty and dirty. The steps to the front of this porch was also rotted.

This owner thought that giving me a phone call to let me know about the mice was her way of handling the situation. I have stayed at many VRBO homes throughout the years. I have never written a bad review before. I do look at the reviews when I am thinking about renting a place. I would want to know truthfully how someone was treated and how the place looked. I am sorry to do this bad review to the owner, but she did have an opportunity to make it right and decided to just hang up on me.

Owner's Response: I’ve never had an issue with pests in the house as it is on a maintenance program. The guests prior to this party mentioned they saw a mouse and the service arrived immediately to handle. I notified this guest of the actions taken in the past couple of days to handle. They responded ‘no need, we are not afraid of a mouse’. I followed up the day of their arrival with no response. The cleaning service was at the house the day before their arrival so no droppings were in the house. This and the remainder of review statements are untrue. The guest wanted multiple night’s stay refunded, hundreds of dollars, to write a fair review. I offered a concession for the pest situation, however it was not enough. Also, the first I received any feedback was this review. Guest never called upon arrival or while at house with sincere concerns nor responded to my reach out the day of their arrival. I aim to please all guests and disappointed I could not appease this guest.

Missing some standard amenities

Every year, we choose a different location on a lake in the south, rent a home and stay the week. This home was fairly nice. It was clean and as described and the fishing was good. Unfortunately, we wanted to do other things when the weather wasn’t nice. There was no cell reception, which I anticipated would be the case, but the house also didn't include Wi-Fi. So, we had no way to contact anyone from the house. I wasn't able to look anything up for us to do in the area without taking a 15-minute drive, I couldn't check hours of operation, etc. Really a huge inconvenience the entire trip, and for this alone, I wouldn't return. They also didn't stock basics like towels, including dishtowels or dishrags for the kitchen. Without a dishwasher or dishtowels, I was drying wet dishes with paper towels and I had to use paper towels to clean the counters and tables. A couple of simple amenities could have made this a home we would return to.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback regarding towels. I've added towels, hand towels, and wash rags as a provision. WIFI is not included as posted on listing and strength of cell phone coverage depends on carrier. I offer multiple areas in which to WIFI close to house as well as amenities included. Guest didn't read documents sent prior to arrival and admitted this when I reached out while also stating that she didn't mean to leave only 2 stars however refuses to reconcile review. I accommodated an early check in and a last minute added night in which they refused to pay. Very frustrating.
