Wanted to share one of the most beautiful places on earth
The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 1990
A long time dream of mine, to own a ranch
Slowing down. Everything you can imagine is within a 45 min drive.
One of the most beautiful, serene places I have ever been. Amazing views great, nice clean really nice ranch house, great hikes close to everything but feels like the middle of nowhere. I could just sit and enjoy the best view I have ever seen and did.
My husband and I rented this cabin along with his nephew and his wife. We took the bedroom on the main floor and they took they one in the finished basement. The cabin was a bit run down. The only improvement might of been a new deck. When we got there were mouse traps were set out and mice were in them. It was pretty bad. At night time they ran around while we watched tv. Then while we tried to sleep especially the bedroom in the basement you could here scratching all night long unless you hit the wall and same for upstairs but not as quite as bad. We left early couldn't take it anymore.
This was our first time to Live Wire Ranch, and a ranch it was. All Good!
We knew what a "Jewel" Ridgway was. So much to do from there. A Must See area.
The town itself offers that feel of a quaint Colorado town. Locals were friendly, and the
other vacationers were Happy. A good sign! The pace of life was exactly what my husband
and I NEEDED. From the Ranch, we found ourselves waking up early to see the Awesome sunrises, and this just made for an "incredible" cup of coffee. Did not want to leave the porch. We brought one of our pups, and this ranch certainly catered to him. He's a young hurdling dog so I kept him leashed while out on our walks. Between the castle on the other side of the fence, jack rabbits, endless birds, feeding deer, and pesky chipmunks, his senses
were well worked. So were ours! One of our greatest pleasures while at the ranch, was after the peaceful sunsets, we would return to the porch to spend the twilight of our night
watching a sky filled with "The most incredible Milky Way". And we've seen some really good ones! Live Wire was everything we needed! It will feed the sole!
The owner was more than accommodating and prompt on returning info to set us up.
I believe anyone looking for relief from this worlds pressures can find it here! The bonus
is, you will walk away with so much more!
A must....Breakfast at Kate's in town, AMAZING YUMMY YUM! It's a 10
Get out and Eat up life!
3rd time to return with family of 5. Lots of room for 3 kids inside and outside. We love the hike out the back door to national forest. Owner very friendly and responds to emails and requests very quickly.
We stayed at the Live Wire Ranch during the Super Moon. What a wonderful place to see the night sky. I would love to come back for a meteor shower.
My family (5 adults) stayed there for a week. We hiked every morning and went for a day trip most afternoons. We made sure to return to the ranch for the sunset every night because the view of the Sneffels Range is sooo beautiful, especially at sunset.
We saw lots of wildlife. Mule Deer were in the front pasture every evening. Lots of rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels. We even saw a badger. The coyotes made a joyful sound in the evenings. Hummingbirds zipped around the house and filled the forests out back. There were 45 cows grazing in the pasture.
The ranch house was simple, but roomy and clean. The kitchen was well equipped and had an excellent blender. We cooked most of our meals here and only missed a potato peeler and a cheese grater (you can fit these in your suitcase). The surrounding communities have excellent farmer's markets, so we made good use of those. The corn and peaches were coming in when we were there as well as lots of other fruits and vegetables.
The property has old ranch equipment, a fallen down barn and an old decrepit ranch house. Great subjects for photography or paintings. I did plein air painting while I was there and am now painting from my photographs.
Our day trips included riding the Gondola from Mountain Village to Telluride and back Eating lunch at Oak in Telluride..BBQ, beer and wonderful fried okra, The Hot Springs pool in Ouray, The Western Hotel in Ouray for trout dinner, Driving over the Red Mountain Pass, Brunch at Kate's in Ridgway (Our favorite place to eat...everything was wonderful, but the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Blueberries and a side of bacon were to die for.)Ice Cream and an Art Festival in Ridgway. The Dennis Weaver Memorial north of Ridgway is also worth seeing. The Lake Ridway State Park is nearby also for hiking, boating or swimming. My 84 year old Mother was with us. She gets around with the help of a walker and she was able to enjoy all of these activities, except the hikes.
The owner of the Live Wire is very responsive and we got our deposit returned with no hitches. We highly recommend staying here and hope to come back some time.
Cute house. Lots of sleeping areas. Stunning views and centrally located among Ridgway, Ouray, Telluride and Montrose. Owner is very nice and responds to emails quickly. Our kids played outside in the woods behind the house all day every day as long as we were there. Hiking right out the back door and woods to roam in out the back as well. This was our 2nd time to visit and will certainly return.
Ouray area has the best 4 wheel driving in the country., 9000 acres of BLM land out back door.
