I've lived in Toluca Lake for almost 15 years and just love it! I'm originally from Pennsylvania and have come to LA via Boston and Chicago. I work in the entertainment business (producing independent films and most recently writing a musical). I am a big traveller myself and have lived in London, Sydney, and Costa Rica. I recently staying in a vacation rental in New York City and had a wonderful experience, so I thought I would provide that kind of comfort and quality to other travelers coming to Los Angeles!
Kate purchased this apartment in 2005
I rented my guest cottage to the same person for the last three years. When he moved from the area, I decided it was an opportunity to furnish the place the way I always envisioned it being furnished (with the perfect balance of beauty AND comfort) and offer it to those looking for a home away from home when visiting LA.
I recently had to be in LA for 2 months and was lucky enough to come across this little gem. It's in a great location, close to studios, restaurants, entertainment and an easy pop onto the freeway. The place is small but it had everything that could possibly be needed. The owner, Kate, is lovely, and was extra helpful as I had to get mail and packages, which she promptly delivered! I'd highly recommend this property-it's a sweet spot☺️
My husband and I stayed for 15 days due to me having both feet operated on. This cozy little place was great and very helpful for what I needed after my surgery. The location of this cottage is great, only thing we ever heard was a garbage truck and the occasional motorcycle which in my book is absolutely wonderful- we did not imagine it would be that quite. We spent a lot of time in the cottage due to the need for optimal post-op care, due to the bed and other seating that was not an issues- everything very comfortable. Kate was very sweet, accommodating, and available, as well as very helpful with the area. Kate even provided us with extra pillows so we didn't have buy our own which meant a lot to us for my post-op care! Great places to eat and shop just within blocks making our time out and about very enjoyable. During our stay we never felt unsafe or uncomfortable with all the amenities Kate's little cottage provided. This is our first trip to L.A. to stay and if ever needing to come back we will definitely look in on staying here. We definitely recommend anyone to stay here.
My boyfriend and I stayed in this house for a month and had a great time! The best part about staying here was the area - it's a block away from an amazing street full of tons of different types of restaurants, all of them great!! The place is quite small, but good for us since we spent most of our time out and about. However, when we did spent time in the cottage it was super comfortable and had everything we needed. The Trader Joe's is just down the street so we were able to easily keep the kitchen stocked! It is also in a very quiet and safe area, so I always felt comfortable if I was home alone. And Kate is a super sweet and a very helpful landlord. If we ever needed her help she was always available! I would definitely recommend staying here. I lived in LA for a year before but never spent any time in Toluca Lake. I am so glad I decided to stay here because it is such a nice area!!
Two of us stayed in the cottage for two months! We adored it and the location. It really felt like home, and we were sad to leave.
This attractive studio is quiet, clean and comfortable. The bed especially, is comfortable.
That's really important. The kitchen is well stocked and the refrigerator is large. There is a loft that one or two children would thoroughly love. There is even a doggie door to let a pet get out into an enclosed patio. Street parking is right by the entrance. The owner lives just blocks away and is easily assessable. My wife and I look forward to staying here again when in the area.
