The Cabin is our Home away from Home. Stress just seems to jump off us as we drive through the gate. We have so many memories with our children and grands and they love the fact that it's only 200 paces to the WL Country Club. Despite being so close, we feel secluded and love to hunker down on the porch or in front of the fire with a good book. During the Winter, we are one of the most accessable Cabins as all roads and the drive are paved and plowed after snow. Our younger visitors love that there is so much to do inside the WL Gates and all accessable due to our equity membership in the Golf Club and Amenities. The Wolf Mt. Lower Ski Lodge is just inside the Wolf Laurel Gate. Besides the normal stuff (golf, tennis & pool), riding Mountain Trails from the WL Stables is our favorite. We do venture outside the gate as there so many great day trips: rafting; Ashville dining & culture; Burnsville; Hot Springs and Little Switzerland (Blueridge Parkway) for lunch. But the greatest aminity is beautiful Big Bald Mountain and the App Trail which is minutes away from the Cabin.
NOTE: The Amenities are open all year round. The Pool, Golf Course and Club Dining are open 5/1-10/30.
On the main level, you walk into an all white pine, vaulted ceiling open design that immediately ushers you into the mountain experience. Leather couches and chair around the fireplace is where most of the indoor relaxing is done except during March Madness when the guys camp out to watch the 60' Sony. The dining area is also beautifully furnished with two matching china cabinets and a large dining room table that seats 8-10. A fully equipped modern kitcken is bordered by a bar that seats 3 and large counter that seats 4 more. You've got nice china, serving dishes, wine glasses and cooking utincils that will accomodate a large & special dinner party. There is a powder room on the main level. A large Master is also on the main level. Elegant matching Pine Furnature and King Bed adds to the mountain flavor. My kids like to use the huge walkin closet for an extra crib or blowup bed for young children. The beautiful master bath has double sinks, a jacuzzi bath, shower and tile floor.
The lower level has two more large bedrooms with large closets. Both are beautifully furnished with queen beds. The rear bedroom also has wonderful bunk deds. A full bath is accessable to the bedrooms and den/playroom. The lower level has a computer center (with WiFi), a media center (TV/DVD/Games) with 2 counches (one a queen pullout) and a large round game table great for that late night poker game. Also on the lower level is full washer/dryer, regular refirgerator and all the fishing/camping and other sports equipment you'll need. You can also find a pack-n-play, high chair and stroller stored in the storage closet.
Huge porches run the full length of the upper and lower levels and provide a wonder view the 10th fareway and the mountains. On the upper porch are rocking chairs and a large teak table and seating that can accomodate 8-10 for covered outdoor dining. One other area we use alot is the stone patio off the lower level which has a fire pit. Smores is a favorite for the grands.
Keywords: Beautifully constructed and furnished Log Home that is the closest Cabin to great dining and spectacular golf at the Wolf Laurel Country Club. Don't golf? Then you may enjoy taking advantage of amenities package that goes with the Cabin including: Pool; Trout Pond; Tennis; Rustic Playground & Pavilion. But once you get inside this quiet retreat, you'll probably just want to enjoy it's beauty and restful quiet. For the hiker, don't forget that the App Trail is a quick walk away.

About John Albert
We have been married for 46 years and raised 4 children (all married now-8 grands) on the water in Savannah, GA. We love the coast but over the past 9 years we've come to know the peace and beauty of the Mountains-particularily at Wolf Laurel/Big Bald Mountain. We purchased the Cabin in 2006 and then a house on the other side of the Mountain in 2011. We also love being so close to the Club!
John Albert purchased this Cabin in 2006

Great Cabin. Beautiful location
I really loved my time here with my family. Rode horses and hiked in Tennessee. Will do again.
Thanks Alex-you guys do come again!
This is the 2nd time we stay in this cabin and it didn't disappoint. We love the cabin, the location and everything about it. We spent much of our time in the cabin because it was just so cold outside. We love it and the kids love it also. The owner, John, is very pleasant and accommodating. We definitely will stay again.
Thanks Ana-look forward ti you and the family visiting again!
Beautiful Home, Wonderful Stay
We were away for a 8 days and by far the best of those were the three days at John Albert's cabin in Mount Laurel Country Club. The cabin is a large space that would be suitable for a family or two, but even if you go solo you will feel comfortable in this friendly, gated community. The open space of the kitchen, living room, and dining area, are perfect for engaging while cooking and seeing the stunning outdoors. The master bedroom was very comfortable (I would like to know the type of mattress this was and get my own!). Downstairs there's a large living area and porch there, as well as two bedrooms and plenty of space for children.
The upstairs porch with the rocking chairs was wonderfully relaxing. I enjoyed looking out at the trees and through them seeing the golf course. At night, this is where you want to be! The stars are dreamy here and you will hold your head up staring in awe when you see the Milky Way. It's amazing at night! You don't need to have evening plans, just eat dinner in the cabin and sit outside and enjoy the light show!
During the day, while you take your walks on the grounds you will be greeted or waved to by everyone riding around in their cars and golf carts. We thought it a big plus that we were just a walk up a hill from the main building of the country club and the view there at sunset is astounding. Though I am a walker, I am not confident in my hiking skills. Having said that, I would urge you to walk up to Big Bald. From The Albert's home, you have the exclusive privilege of driving to a very walkable path to the summit. You can either take an open gravel road up, probably easier, but we did a narrower pathway up into the woods on the Appalachian Trail. We went up the AT and down on the wider path and I would encourage you to do the same. It was very doable, stunning, and you will meet all different people along the way. At the summit, you will be greeted by 360° views of the gorgeous mountains surrounding you in NC and TN. We were up there a while and I was disappointed we wouldn't have time to do it again on this trip.
When you look at the sign in book, you will see the many people thanking the Albert family for use of their home. Perhaps when they bought this cabin they thought of the many wonderful memories their family would have for the time spent in the cabin. I wonder if they realized how many other families would be creating beautiful memories there as well. It was a real treat! Thank you!
Kathy-wow what a review (best ever)! Thanks for taking the time and we do look forward to having you come back!
Pet friendly amazing home for our week!
We love to stay here, this is our second trip to this home. Being able to use the club membership is nice, we had drinks at the bar, dinner in the restaurant and two golf cart rides in the late afternoon. Home is roomy and well decorated. Our dog loves the outdoor deck for spotting deer and other animals. Very comfortable and spacious! One of the few pet friendly rentals we found.
George-thanks and hope to see you guys again soon!
Mr. Albert is so awesome to work with!
I cannot over emphasize how much effort Mr. Albert put into making sure that everything worked for my family. Thank you! I would not hesitate to rent from him again.
Cindy-so glad your family reunion went so well. Come back and see us!
Perfect mountain cabin! Close to ski slopes!
We loved our stay in the cabin over MLK weekend. The cabin was very neat and spacious. We loved sitting on the porch and enjoying the view. The home was only 3 minutes from wolf ridge ski resort so it was super easy to drive over for a fun day of skiing. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend staying here!!
Madison thanks for you kind comments-come back!
Wolf Laurel Stables offers a great Mountain Riding Experience for all ages. The lower ski lodge is within Wolf Laurel and 1.25 miles from the Cabin.

In the Rental Agreement you can opt for providing a credit card # in leau of a security deposit. Ours is a valuable property, but we have found that it is easier for our guests to give a credit card # as a security deposit versus paying for the Rental Insurance ($59 for $1500 damage insurance) or providing a personal check ($500). Fortunately we've never had a damage claim! This year VRBO has instituted an 8% surcharge paid by the renter directly to them. To save this fee you need to not book directly online, let us know you want to pay directly by check when you make your inquiry.
