Big Bear Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

Due to our high level of success, we want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has stayed with us, making our cabin more affordable and comfortable. I am pleased to announce that our rates are lowered to now start at just $89/night! I am also pleased to announce several renovations that were just completed making the cabin more elegant and enjoyable for our guests. Please check our calendar for availability before inquiring. Our calendar is always up-to-date so if it shows available, it is still ready to book.

R&R Retreat is nestled in the beautiful woods of the Big Bear Mountains. Our cabin is located in breathtaking Big Bear City, just two blocks from the main highway, 5 minutes from the lake, and 7 minutes from Snow Summit Ski Resort, yet far enough away that it is extremely quiet and private. You'll truly feel like you are in the middle of nowhere and you'll never have to worry about issues driving to the cabin in the snow. During the winter season, our street and surrounding level streets are plowed daily. So pack your bags and make yourself at home!

We feel R&R Retreat is in the best location in Big Bear because it is less than 10 minutes to both the ski resorts and beautiful Big Bear Lake, yet it is away from regular weekend traffic. Whether you're coming up to enjoy the snow in the winter, or lake in the summer, R&R Retreat has everything needed to make your vacation a memorable one.

Our cabin was recently remodeled with top-of-the-line amenities. We take pride in our home and feel that we have done everything possible so our guests can focus on their wonderful vacation. When you stay at R&R Retreat, you will not feel like you're in a normal rental property because our home comes stocked with furnishings that are comforting, usable and luxurious. With each reservation, R&R Retreat offers a COMPLIMENTARY BOTTLE OF R&R'S FAVORITE WINE. Its a Cabernet from Chile and it has been a favorite of ours for the past 5 years.

Our cabin was completely remodeled just two years ago and features MULTIPLE CUSTOM UPGRADES. The home has 3 parking spots in the driveway and will fit a boat or RV. It has a large, newly re-finished deck with a gas grill to enjoy those beautiful nights under the stars. A new high-altitude state-of-the-art water heater is installed so guests will never run out of hot water! The home features new knotty pine interior walls and new CENTRAL FORCED HEAT. You will never have to worry about being cold, even during the coldest nights! New floors were installed at the beginning of 2012. All of the decor in the home has been hand selected and truly captures the 'cabin feel.' We also offer FREE HIGH SPEED WIRELESS INTERNET, FREE CABLE TELEVISION, and FREE NETFLIX.

Starting in the kitchen, we have all new stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. Our beautiful kitchen bar has an integrated wine cooler and seating for four! The kitchen features a custom rock backsplash above the sink. I worked for a private chef for 5 years and really take pride in our kitchen and everything in it. It comes fully stocked with top of the line plates, drinking glasses, utensils, mixing bowls, cooking knives, cutting boards, complete pot/pan nonstick set, cookware, and a crock pot. I guarantee that you'll find everything you possibly need to cook an amazing meal. The kitchen is fully stocked with spices and condiments so you don't have to worry about these little things. Also included are beautiful wine glasses and a wine/bottle opener.

The cozy living room has a new insert fireplace. The living room has comfortable seating for six, including a leather chair to relax in while watching your favorite movie on a 42' Samsung flat screen television. Also provided is FREE CABLE, allowing you access to 120 of the most popular channels in America! A DVD/Blu Ray player is hooked up to the television which allows you FREE NETFLIX to instantly stream thousands of movies right to the television. The cabin has FREE WIRELESS INTERNET for guests. Our living room also has a CD player with an iPod jack.

The bathroom has a combination tub and shower, with a powerful new shower head, and plenty of mirrors.

Our master bedroom comes designed with a beautiful queen-size bed complete with a comfortable memory foam mattress, a fitted heating blanket to keep you VERY warm during the winter months, and a beautiful full-length wood framed mirror.

The guest room, is slightly larger than the master, has a new, very comfortable, memory foam full-size bed, plus a bunk bed with twin-size mattresses. The guest room sleeps 4 comfortably. The guest room is light and airy with a large window facing the street.

About The Owner

Rhea and I love the outdoors and when we were living in Los Angeles, it was a dream of ours to own a cabin in Big Bear. We wanted a place to 'get away' from the rat race of Los Angeles and felt Big Bear, and this cabin specifically, was the perfect place to do just that. We are both very fun, relaxed people with an active lifestyle. We love to spend our time with friends and family. Unfortunately, we no longer live in Los Angeles and cannot enjoy those quick weekend trips up the mountains. I hope all of you can benefit from this and get to experience why this cabin has such a special place in our hearts. Cheers!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2011

Why The Owner chose Big Bear

Because Rhea was from the beautiful Northwest (Seattle), she was missing the After looking at about 50 homes during our home search, we were blown away when we walked into this beautiful and cozy cabin. This cabin checked all our boxes and felt it had the perfect amount of charm and was centrally located to everything Big Bear has to offer.

Peaceful and relaxing

Our experience at R&R Retreat was great. The place is very cozy and nice. It was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped with all the essentials. Our one and only complaint is that the bbq pit was out of propane, so we weren't able to use it. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Big Bear.

Charming retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the charming R&R cabin for 3 nights for the Father's day weekend. The cabin is a cute, cozy retreat- perfect for a weekend getaway. It slept six, so there was plenty of room for me, my husband and two young boys. The cabin was fully furnished, had linens, towels and everything necessary for cooking in the kitchen. It was a wonderful stay, and a close drive to everything. We would definitely love to return later in the year- maybe for the winter. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin- had a great time.

Lovely cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in this cabin in January 2016. We arrived not long after a big snow storm so there was heaps of snow around making it very pretty. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. Rio, the owner was lovely and friendly to deal with throughout the booking.

Also has a little backyard which the kids enjoyed making snow angels in.

Convenient to the local ski fields or tubing areas.

I would definitely recommend and will hopefully return in a few years time.

Many thanks.

Loved every minute!

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed every minute of our stay in this lovely cabin. It is clean, exactly as represented in the photos, and so beautifully outfitted and decorated inside that it made the small space feel cozy and much so, my family of four didn't want to leave! I could barely get them out the door to go explore Big Bear! We used everything-- cooked on the grill twice, played board games on the deck, cooked dinner in the well-appointed kitchen each night, watched a movie each night on the big screen, let the kids take turns sleeping in the top bunk (always coveted) daughter even made a little nest in one of the sleds out back and read under the trees for an entire afternoon! With an actual book!! I think we enjoyed our R&R to the absolute fullest! Rio was so communicative leading up to our trip, and amazingly responsive when small things came up once we arrived (like when I forgot the wi-fi password, or when we discovered the previous tenant had left the propane on in the grill) which made us feel so well taken care of. Literally the ONLY thing I would suggest as an improvement is some place in the master bedroom to store our clothes--the closet is reserved for the owners' use, which is disclosed ahead of time and totally understandable; it just would be great to be able to unpack and not step around a suitcase! Maybe some drawers or baskets under the bedside tables? Such a small thing, though, couldn't possibly detract from the total atmosphere of ease and comfort. Love this place, can't wait to go back!

We just got back from 4 nights midweek at the R & R Retreat. It was my husband, 5 year old, 2.5 year old and myself. I was skeptical to stay in Big Bear City instead of a more prime, expensive location but it ended up being just perfect for us. We came in and woke up to a storm, played in the snow for 2 days and then did the zoo and some thrift stores. In 5 days we saw one neighbor, once. This is a very quiet location.

As for the cabin, it met our needs. I had a few safety issues I was concerned about for toddlers/2 year olds and I addressed those with Rio. Rio is the most responsive, cool guy you could rent a cabin from.

The kitchen had plenty of pots/pans/etc to cook with. We only ate out once. I feel the cleaning people zip in and zip out for the cleaning fee. They basically wipe the counters down, make the beds and mop the floor. I think they should also dust and do some other stuff (already addressed with Rio). Cleaning people get sloppy if they are not monitored and I think this is the case here.

I could go on and on but based on the ease and responsiveness of Rio, the layout of the cabin and the proximity to Big Bear Lake, we got our dollars worth and more. If you were going to ski at Snow Summit or Bear it would be totally close enough, although there is no outdoor ski locker for your belongings.
