Great Location

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for the five star resort experience then this isn't the place for you. But, if your looking for a place that can sleep a lot of people, that is comfortable and a good value then look no further. It is in a great location with a beautiful meadow right behind it. If you want to do a lot of cooking keep in mind that I think the appliances are about as old as the house itself, so you will be hard pressed to make a large meal, especially in the very tiny oven. If your just looking to mostly eat out or make simple things then your good to go. I would certainly stay here again for the charm, space and value of the house as well as an owner who is easy to talk to/work with.

Great cabin with lots of room.

  • 4 of 5

I really like this cabin and enjoyed my stay with my family. It is fully equipped with everything you possibly could need and close to everything. It is a lot bigger once inside then the listing online makes it seem. I would definitely stay here again.

Great little house in town!

  • 4 of 5

This little house in the town of South Lake Tahoe provides wonderful accommodation for a family of up to 10 people or more and is a great value. There is a spacious great room with a large dining table and chairs, also couches that could accommodate a mess of children. The two upstairs bedrooms each have two beds. The master downstairs has a queen bed and large bureau and room to hang clothes. There is a large capacity washer-drawer in a somewhat cluttered room off the kitchen.

The main residence is just the sort of rustic cabin decor you imagine a house in Tahoe should be including an easy to use gas log fireplace. The property backs up to a public greenbelt where people walk their dogs and kids go to play in the creek and swim. On a summer night it's a treat to sit out in the meadow and watch the sunlight turn the high ridgeline of nearby Heavenly Ski Resort golden, then gaze at stars. My stay was in July. I have not stayed in the winter, but it seems it would be fine for a wintertime ski vacation. Only about 10 minutes away from Heavenly.

The only minor criticisms -- the kitchen is functional but dated with minimal counter space and there is no dishwasher. Owners, please de-clutter the kitchen drawers of about two-thirds of the utensils, less is more in that regard. Pots and pans are plentiful enough, but past their prime. Also, there is only one shower, so a larger group of adults will have to schedule bathroom time. Also the laundry room shelves are jam-crammed with stuff of no use to guests. Suggest clearing that out to a place guests would not be using. One last thing, an umbrella or two in the backyard would make it more comfortable, and consider getting rid of, or repairing, the broken patio furniture.

Owner's Response: Glad that you enjoyed our little cabin! It is an older Tahoe style cabin with a small kitchen with limited room for counter space and yes, no dishwasher. These are things that would be difficult to remedy even with a remodel given the space available. I will concentrate on de-cluttering the cabinets and drawers. The laundry area is also very small with the relatively new addition of the washer and dryer ( I was surprised they would fit!) for the convineince of the guests. The other items in there are storage for repair and repainting. There is no garage for us to store these items in. The outdoor furniture takes a beating in the winter snow and every year a few items need to be replaced. I hadn't thought of an umbrella because of all the trees but will bring one up for next summer. Thank you for your suggestions we do appreciate them. We try to implement as many as we can to make the cabin as comfortable as we can for our guests.

Our Third Time Here!

  • 5 of 5

This is the third year we've rented this great property for a get together with our almost-all-grown-up kids, their friends and our friends! The location is ideal, close to shopping at Safeway so you don't need to haul all your food up with you. A short drive to walks on the beach, gambling at Stateline, water activities at Zephyr Cove or beaches near Camp Richardson and best of all access to a gorgeous quite meadow and stream right outside the back door!

The house is in a quiet neighborhood setting complete with rabbits, deer, the occasional coyotes and this year, a mother bear and cub walking past the house at 8:00 a.m. Though the kitchen is a bit small and somewhat dated and there is only one shower (newly remodeled) the large family room with lots of comfy couches and plenty of upstairs beds with a half bathroom more than make up for this.

To their credit the owners have wisely kept the place simple and hence very affordable. We plan to bring our kids back for years to come and look forward to having them bring the grand kids when they finally get around to having them!

Our favorite mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I are absolutely in love with this cabin. It's spacious, well equipped, and cozy. Marilyn is so kind and easy to work with, and answered all of my questions promptly. This was our second year coming and it was even better than the first. All of the beds are comfortable. The electric fireplace was much appreciated. The yard was covered in snow and opened up to a gorgeous open space where we ran around and had snowball fights. We started over President's Day Weekend, and it went much too fast.

I would highly, highly recommend this cabin. We hope to come back next year too.

Nice stay

  • 4 of 5

Location was very close to our daughter's home so that was great. Setting near stream and hiking was awesome.

Plenty of sleeping space as well as visiting space. Kitchen and kitchen lighting are old and need updating.

Overall a good deal. Would stay here again.
