Great place to stay!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very clean, comfortable and as described in the listing. We had a couple of questions throughout our stay and Woody answered the phone promptly and answered all of our questions. The hot tub was great way to unwind at the end of the day. The kitchen and bathrooms seemed to be newly renovated. We loved that we had access to the dock, kayaks and beach club with this property.

I would point out that the access road to the house was a little hard to find. We had directions from Woody but were driving up at night and had a tough time finding the property. Adding some distance/mileage to the directions would be helpful. The upstairs bedroom also did get really warm by the end of the day (we stayed in August) and was a little uncomfortable to sleep. We used fans and opened windows and by the middle of the night it was cooled off and comfortable.

I would recommend this property for anyone looking for a nice, clean getaway in lake arrowhead.

Renovated A-frame tree house on a hill with a large balcony

  • 4 of 5

The 4 of us enjoyed our stay in Woody's well appointed cabin. The balcony is up in the pine trees and has a hot tub, grill and table for 4 with outside speakers (no inside speakers). The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. The 2 bedrooms were comfortable and there were two bathrooms. The upstairs bedroom has a TV and is only hooked up to a dvd player with a collection of dvd's available. Since, we're short, the upstairs shower was fine, but a tall or portly person would have a difficult time fitting in. There is also an empty room off the upstairs bedroom that could accommodate a blow up mattress or crib. The living room has a tv with cable and a fireplace. The furniture is comfortable, but extremely worn. The dining area seats 4 very comfortably and there is also an office. The walk to the lake is short and steep, as is the drive up to the cabin, but parking is right outside the front door. The slip dock is located at the Village and there is free parking close to it. Unfortunately, the lake is very low and the area around the dock has lots of plants just below the surface of the water which inhibits wading. There is a grill, but the patio chairs need to be replaced in order to enjoy the lake views. Woody's place would not be suitable for small children or those with difficulty walking.

Been here 6 years in a row

  • 4 of 5

We've been staying at Woody's for six years now and keep returning year after year. He's super attentive and the house is neat and clean. Unfortunately the drought has lowered the water level at Lake Arrowhead and the dock isn't as it was when we first started coming but it's still nice to have that option with the kayaks and lake view. Overall a very relaxing stay and a nice break from the daily grind!

NOT the home away experience

  • 2 of 5

Definitely NOT the home away experience we sought. Nice property but owner support was tentative at best. When we called to address some minor issues (wrong access codes, entertainment hookups, empty propane tanks), the owner responded skeptically and like we were putting him out. I had to purchase propane out of pocket and the kids went without PlayStation.

Worst of all...our vacation home was actually a duplex with someone living below the residence. Creepier still, our unexpected neighbor was spying on us and reporting to the owner.

The refrigerator and spa were set to save on the owners electric bill. Problem being it took the better part of our stay for either to reach a useful temp. Some food spoiled and we were unable to use the spa until the second day of our stay.

When I texted the owner with our concerns, he was dismissive and unsupportive.

Owner's Response: We are always very accommodating and helpful to our customers. This was the absolute most demanding and unreasonable group I've ever dealt with. As you can see from other reviews, 9 out of 10 are very happy and we have lots of repeat visitors. In response to the horrible review: The property is listed on the VRBO website as a duplex. The vacation rental is 100 percent private, and has exclusive use of the spa, dock, and private wrap around deck, none of which you can even see from the lower unit. The full-time tenant on the bottom unit is very respectful and quite. The lower unit has its own access, and you'd never know it was there. The accusation about "spying" is CRAZY! We have no interest in spying and we tottaly respect our guests privacy. The codes, tv, and PlayStation work fine. The controllers on the PlayStation just needed to be charged (I'll be removing the PlayStation from the website moving forward). The other issue was one of the kayak locks was jammed. I jumped through hoops and had someone down to cut the lock off within an hour. They couldn't wait 30 min for the cleaner to some over and swap out the propane tank. The fridge is brand-new and we do not turn the temperature down. Someone must have left the door open. The spa temperature is turned down as there are weeks between bookings and the house is empty. For your enjoyment, there is a spa company that comes once a week to clean and adjust chemicals. The Spa only takes an hour or so to heat up. Please remember before booking, this is a cabin, not a 5 star hotel. We are very proactive in making sure unforeseen issues get taken care of immediately. We are proud of how clean and relaxing our place is. Private dock, SPA, modern amenities, what else do you need for $200 - 350 a night? You can't make everyone happy - but we sure to!

Great location and comfy cabin!

  • 4 of 5

My husband, 15 year old son and I so enjoyed our stay at Woody's cabin! When we sat in the living room, it felt like we were in a tree house as the nearly floor to ceiling windows were lovely and brought the outdoors inside every moment of the day! The dock with two kayaks was perfect for short paddles or a nearly 4 hour tour of the lake! The modern conveniences of remodeled kitchen and bathrooms made it feel like a luxury getaway. Lastly, when we had a hiccup with the internet, Woody was extremely responsive and helpful. Wonderful cabin and great getaway!
