Wicker Park/Bucktown: Imagine a foodie haven, boutique shopping, bar hopping, martini sipping, hipster vibe, world class neighborhood. From Marc Jacobs and Club Monaco to thrift shops and Fjallraven, welcome to Wicker Park. It has a trendy, local vibe and is conveniently located right off the safe Blue Line with three major L stops just six minutes from the Loop and downtown-- Division, Damen, Western. What I love most about Wicker Park is the laid back environment with genuinely good people. Tons of young people, families, young professionals, the business crowd, and yes.... hipsters! While it appears the more artsy, hipster scene is migrating north to Logan Square due to skyrocketing living costs in Wicker Park, the culture undoubtedly still exists. My personal favorite is Division Street on the southern border of the neighborhood. Lots of exciting developments and a more reserved scene compared to the hustle and bustle of the Six Corners (North Ave, Milwaukee, Damen). Spend your time walking around the perimeter roads (Division, Damen, North, Ashland ... Ashland is the least interesting) and the primary cut-through road (Milwaukee Ave). Take a little time to wander through the side streets, there are many older homes that are quite nice, plus a number of new constructions sneaking in alongside.

About Niki Hondropoulos

I am born and raised in Chicago. I still LOVE exploring this city because something new is always popping up. I love the Cubs, street festivals, our restuarants/bars scene, architecture, people watching while having coffee in one of the many outside patios. Happy travels!!!

What makes this condo unique

-The REAL reason to stay in our Wicker Park is super trendy shops, great food, fun music and awesome patio's for people watching. Don't fall into the tourist trap and pay the crazy prices to stay and play downtown.

What a Gem :)

This was an annual family vacation with 3 generations of family and we truly enjoyed our stay here on the 2nd and 3rd floor (palace) condo.

What did we love? Snack basket upon arrival was a welcome treat after a long day of driving. Game of Thrones season premiered when we were there so Dish TV on a nice large screen was certainly enjoyed by those in the party who wouldn't have missed it. Nice large TV in the great room and master BR. Master Bedroom with en suite up on the 2nd floor was large and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked and the unit was comfortable. It felt safe. Minimal street noise. Deck out over garage was delightful and private with comfortable and plentiful seating and we had a blast drinking wine and playing some family party games. Plentiful towels and bedding. Help yourself to a $10 mani at the salon next door. The bakery down the street had delicious cheesecake and the pizzeria down the block was perfect for a night spent in. Seems like a small detail but two trash cans was nice. Cash only liquor store a few blocks away and there are some great restaurants within walking distance. We Uber'd to Big Town for tacos and had a blast. This was the easiest rental we've had when it comes to getting around in a car with easy, easy access to the freeway. There were lots of menus, reference guides, maps, and Chicago sightseeing info available for us.

What I'd love to see? Blinds in the living room so we could darken the room for those sleeping on the sofa. (small detail) Parking was tight. We had a person in our party who couldn't walk long distances and the free parking around the corner was usually full so we fed the meter outside as needed. It was free for a large part of the time we were there. This isn't anything the owner can control.. it's just an FYI.

Niki was responsive to my messages when I had questions. I didn't meet her but my niece did and said she was a gracious and welcoming hostess. We are respectful guests and treat these homes as our own. It was so great that Niki made us feel like welcomed guests not just 'renters'. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thank you for helping us to create wonderful memories!!

Great spot! Great view!

  • 5 of 5

This place was great for a big group looking to do a lot of different things around town, but still have a comfortable home-base to recharge in. The top deck and view are as advertised... sweeping views and large enough for plenty of socializing.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

This Wicker Park condo is a short walk to restaurants on Division street, as well as the train for easy access to sights in Chicago. We rented the upper unit and the rest of the family had the lower unit; it was great to have space to gather for games and to enjoy views of the skyline from deck.

Exceeded Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I (6 adults total) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Loft. The condo was beautiful and in a great area and was spacious enough for the six of us. It was clean when we arrived, and we appreciated the snacks that were left for us.

Niki was great to deal with; very responsive and returned our deposit in a timely manner. We will not hesitate to return here for our next stay in Chicago. A great value! Thanks!
