About Janine and Tony Wood
We are Janine and Tony, with a dog called Junior, a British couple originally from Bramley in Hampshire. We now live at Le Château De La Rivière which we bought back in December 2005 and have been renting out the 2 houses and barn for Holiday lets since then. We have moved into the La Grange as our permanent place of residence allowing us to commit ourselves 100% to ensuring our holiday guests are fully attended to. From 2006 until December 2012 we had to rely on local managers whilst we still worked and lived in the UK. But we decided early in 2012 that the time was right for us to make the big step and move out to France full time, where we are now running a property management company called Cordes Owners Club too. In this we manage other owner’s properties and rentals. Something we feel we know inside out now. A little bit about us - Janine was a qualified Town Planner for 25 years, but ran a local Slimming World Group for the last 3 years. Janine is now also a qualified Life Coach. Tony spent 12 years in the RAF trained as an Air Defence Radar technician, where he managed to see the multitude of worldly postings of Neatishead in Norfolk and High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. Oh and the obligatory 4 month tour to the Falkland’s living in a metal box on top of a mountain called Alice.! After completing those 12 years Tony became a Telecoms engineer, joining Telecential, one of the growing band of Cable companies in April 1997. After many takeovers, buy-outs and mergers, but still working in exactly the same desk in the same office with the same people, he eventually was working for Virgin Media and was then outsourced to BT, this was to be his last change in the telecoms world. After 16 years of this ever changing world, with being under constant threat of redundancy and the next take-over / collapse, it was time to take a break. So here we are.
Janine and Tony Wood purchased this House in 2005
Why Janine and Tony Wood chose Salles
We originally came to stay about 25 km away in Requista. However after viewing 7 different properties over about 100 km from the Lot to the Dordogne nothing quite hit the spot. We visited our agent who lived just up the road and he said well there is one other place you might like in this delightful little village called Salles just down the road, would you like me to call the owners. Well that was it. We fell in love with the 3 houses on the spot. We couldn't sleep that night, we just know that this was it we had to buy it. So we came back the very next day and put an offer in. The rest is history. It was always our plan to be here full time by 2010. It took 7 rather than 5 but we are so happy to be here.

One of our favourite family holidays
This is a fabulous property in a stunning setting. We were welcomed by the owners and shown around the property and grounds and were given some very useful local information. Our holiday home was large and comfortable with all the facilities needed for a large family. The outside areas were lovely with plenty of space for family meals, lovely areas to shade from the sun and read, lots of space for the children to run around in and play. The outside pool was not heated yet was the warmest pool we had ever used, much warmer than some heated pools we had previously experienced.
We would recommend this holiday gite very highly and hope to return again soon.
Thank you for your review, we try and make everything as homely as we can, the pool is in such a sheltered position it gets the sun on it all day, this helps it warm up so much. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
We are in the heart of the Cerou Valley. Cordes Sur Ciel is just a few miles away, with its popular tourism and genuine charm. Albi is close and is famous for its link to Toulouse Lautrec and the stunning cathedral. The gorges of both the Tarn and the Averyon, offer stunning scenery and great fun days kayaking. The village itself is a lovely quiet place of tranquillity. If you can't relax here you can't relax anywhere.
