About Tamara Libbey
I was raised on an island in the middle of the Yellowstone River & grew up loving & appreciating the scenery, wildlife and activities that are part of the wonder-fullness of living in such beautiful country. After leaving the state for work, I continued to return home & then, we had the opportunity to purchase property & build a cabin which we enjoy at different times throughout the year. It is a pleasure to get to share our beautiful backyard with others.
Tamara Libbey purchased this Cabin in 2009

What makes this Cabin unique
I enjoy the solitude & sense of being away from it all, while knowing if I want or need, civilization is only about 45 minutes away. The beauty of the area just envelopes you & makes it difficult to leave. The light changes throughout the day & from the early rays of the sunrise to the alpine glow preceding nightfall it provides constant delight. Sitting on the deck and watching the wildlife that abounds in the area is always fun. Watching the deer as they change from full velvet to knotty racks always brings a smile.

Mountain Retreat with Amazing Views
If you are looking for a great cabin with privacy and amazing Mountain Views , this is the place! It is 8 miles up a mountain on a one lane gravel road so it is truly a retreat! We had a great time and would definitely come again!
An amazing experience from start to finish. Thank you Tamara for sharing your home with us and providing such great accommodations. The cabin is so peaceful and exactly what my husband and I were looking for...quiet time away from the big city
Like others have said our only regret is not staying longer. We hope to come back soon.
An Amazing Piece of Paradise
We really enjoyed our recent stay at the Flying K Getaway cabin. Your cabin is beautiful, well-appointed, and remote. The views, quietness, and stillness is amazing. It was a great way to unwind after our 2-week backcountry backpacking trip in the remote south-east corner of Yellowstone (Heart Lake > Yellowstone Lake > Thorofare > South boundary). Even though it was overcast, rainy, and cool during our stay at the cabin we still got in a couple of nice day hikes (Rock Creek South Trail / Meadows Trail #167; Eightmile Trail #132), and a day-trip into Yellowstone to be tourists. Beautiful sunrise and colors the first morning. After a rainy afternoon, there was an amazing double rainbow that extended across the property and into the valley. We enjoyed our last night dinner at the Yellowstone Valley Grill. Also recommend Follow Yer' Nose BBQ and Wildflower Bakery in Emigrant. Thanks for sharing this amazing piece of paradise.
Close to the Top of the World
What a stunning property! This rental far exceeded our expectations.
Firstly, Tamara is personable and considerate. She knows the area well, and that showed in how the cabin was situated and stocked, and in her communications with us.
The cabin was spotless and superbly stocked. About the only item we have in our kitchen at home that wasn't represented here was a coffee grinder--and most folks bring their coffee already ground anyway. There's even a gourmet barbecue grill out on the porch. The decor is consistent and charming in a traditional log-cabin way. We liked the old movie posters around the dining room. The layout was perfect for two people, and could work for a few more if everybody got along well. Unlike many log homes, this one was bright and airy inside. Even after dark, there was still plenty of light--especially in that terrific kitchen--with a possible exception of the living room; a couple added stand lamps beside the couch might be appreciated.
What really sets this cabin apart, though, is its location. No photo could do it justice, settled into a mountainside meadow with astonishing long-range views across Paradise Valley. One can easily get distracted halfway out the door and forget whatever destination might have been in mind. It is just beautiful.
There could not be many vacation homes better suited for *us* but no place is perfect for everyone. A few things to be aware of when considering:
Absolute privacy and spectacular views are earned. At over 8,000 feet above sea level, some lowlanders may feel winded just lugging in their bags from their vehicle. And said vehicle had better be a 4x4. We came in a Jeep Grand Cherokee and experienced no problems, but we kept it in low-range on the last part of the drive. Going up and down the mountain requires a little patience, which is rewarded by all kinds of awesome sights en route.
There are critters. We watched mule deer graze from the porch, heard coyotes wail at the moon (they have different bedtimes than we do). Squirrels and grouse were always present. We didn't see bears during our visit but they're around. As long as a bit of wind was blowing (usually the case) bugs weren't a problem, but a still sunny afternoon invited deer flies; they just come with the territory.
Honestly, our only serious complaint is that our stay was too short. I, for one, could happily linger another month or so.
Amazing Property, Even More Amazing Views
Our week's stay at this property in August was everything we had hoped for. It was one of the most enjoyable vacations we have ever had. We expect to return again. For anyone looking for seclusion but in close proximity to Yellowstone, there is no better place to stay.
My husband and I stayed here three nights, and it was an incredible experience. Words cannot describe how beautiful this cabin is. It had everything we needed. Tamara's suggestions about where to shop and eat were so helpful. The caretaker, Todd, came up to greet us, and also took time out of his day to show my husband a good place to hike. The cabin is immaculate, and the views are the most beautiful I have ever seen. We hope to be back next year.
