Those wanting a place to get away from their everyday routine will appreciate the fact that cell-phone reception here on the mountain can be limited.

Jeff is an elementary school teacher and Tim is a professional musician and small business owner. We've been happy together for 15 and enjoy hiking, theatre, travel, food, and spending time with friends and family.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2005
We have always loved the Asheville area because of its natural beauty, its emphasis on the arts, and its concern with the environment. We were fortunate enough to make a permanent move to the area in 2005. We love our home and its location here, and we are happy to be able to share a part of it with those who are looking to enjoy a vacation in the Asheville area.
The best part of our property is the combination of privacy and an 'away from it all' feeling in a beautiful mountain setting while at the same time having access to all the conveniences we need within a 5-10 minute drive.
We stayed for 10 days with our 2 year old and our miniature Chihuahua. The apartment was very cozy and clean - it looked just like in the pictures! It was pretty high up on the mountain and very peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the little porch reading a book and taking in the mountain views. Because it was so high on the mountain there wasn't really a flat surface for our little one to play outside. However, there was a very nice park with a great playground just 10 minutes away. The kitchen had all basic cooking equipment and if we needed anything extra Tim was happy to provide it immediately. The place was very close to town with a lot of really good restaurants near. I would definitely recommend this place.
Wonderful location nestled in the woods but close to town. All the amenities included. Nice decor. Clean and quiet. Very attentive hosts that are interested in making your stay go well. They know all about the area and can give suggestions for hiking trails, restaurants, and things to do in Asheville.
Never got to meet Jeff, but Tim was a delightful host, very responsive and helpful before we arrived, and the apartment was even better than advertised: immaculate, peaceful, well-appointed, away from it all but close enough to get downtown as often as we wanted to during our stay, and just as close to the Blue Ridge Parkway for our day trip to Mt Mitchell. Enjoyed a lovely view from the deck with our coffee each morning - we imagine the view to be even more lovely in the fall when the leaves are in full color. The bottle of wine and snacks were an especially nice touch, and it was great to be able to bring our little dog, who enjoyed meeting at least one of the poodles and didn't seem to want to leave when it was time to go. :) The road to get to the house is a little narrow, but that's not uncommon for the mountains. And even though I'm not much of a night driver, never had a problem with the navigation. Hope to return some day, thanks Tim and Jeff!
If you enjoy being away from everything, this is your place. Bring provisions at it is miles away from a store. I did not travel the road at night at it is twisty and no streetlights and no barriers if you go off the twisty, curvy and narrow road, it's a long drop down in some places. Porch is good if you have bug spray.. If you do not have an SUV, be vary careful of the very steep driveway. Go very slow. I did and still dragged the bottom of the front and rear bumpers of a new '16 Mercedes Benz E-300. Leaving the driveway swung car at an angle and don't go near the bottom right side of the driveway. Place is peaceful and owners totally leave you alone. Go for a rest after a busy day. If you like being away from it all this is an ideal place for you !
My partner and I had never used VRBO before but wanted a mountain getaway in Asheville. We stumbled upon Tim and Jeff's place after reading other reviews. I have to say, the previous reviewers were spot on. This place is a gem. Tim and Jeff were very communicative during the entire reservation process and happy to answer any questions.
We arrived to a beautifully appointed, clean apartment. There were complimentary refreshments and a bottle of wine. The apartment has a private entrance and feels very secluded from the "main house". We saw our hosts once and they made some great recommendations. The mountain only has 18 other homes so it truly felt "away from it all" but was close to everything.
Super responsive hosts
Clean (the pictures do not lie)
Secluded yet 15 minute drive to everything
The only recommendation was that the fan squeaked when on high. Definitely not a deal breaker.
Thank you Tim and Jeff for providing a stellar first experience. We can't wait to return to your mountain retreat.
Just got home from a short trip to Asheville. First time to the area. It was a last minute trip. Jeff and Tim were very accommodating with this. The apartment is thoughtfully stocked with everything you might need while staying at this mountainside retreat. This location was super quiet which provided a restful night's sleep. Often at a hotel you have other guests creating noise in the hallways...not here. My only recommendationn would be to add a curtain on the door to allow guests to close it at night. It would provide more of a sense of privacy while watching tv. Thanks for the snacks and beverages! We enjoyed the hospitality and personal touch during our visit.
