About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

You'll relish the peaceful serenity of this beautifully appointed 1-bedroom mountainside apartment while appreciating its convenience to South Asheville's shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. Located on the lower level of our home in an upscale development, we offer our guests absolute privacy with the assurance that we are closeby should any need or question arise.

There's nothing better than a good night's sleep in the mountains, and you're sure to sleep like a baby on your comfortable king bed with 100% Egyptian cotton bedding, laundered without dyes or perfumes. The bedroom, which can be darkened even in the daytime, has it's own TV, a recliner, and the convenience of a large en suite bathroom with tub/shower, plush luxury bath towels, and hair dryer.

Whether you plan to cook gourmet meals or just make morning coffee during your visit, you'll appreciate the fully equipped kitchen, featuring all brand-new appliances, including dishwasher, microwave, icemaker, and coffee maker. The kitchen's bar area seats 3 and opens into the spacious living room, where the plush sofa offers a great place for a nap or for watching your favorite TV show.

Your private entrance features a 10 x 10 deck with majestic mountainside views and fresh air amidst a rhododendron grove. It's a great place for breakfast before a hike or shopping excursion, and it's the perfect spot for a drink in the afternoon before heading out to dinner at a nearby restaurant, to a concert or the theatre.

A private washer/dryer and iron in the apartment make laundry convenient for those planning longer visits. You'll also appreciate the central AC/Heat, ceramic tile floors, ceiling fans, Wifi (please note that our DSL service -- although the fastest available -- accommodates only limited UP-load speed), and 2 flatscreen satellite TVs offering all major pay/premium stations.

Those wanting a place to get away from their everyday routine will appreciate the fact that cell-phone reception here on the mountain can be limited.

Located within 15 minutes of downtown Asheville, Biltmore Estate, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville Airport, Asheville Mall, and many other major places of interest, this mountainside refuge offers the best of the area's beauty and conveniences.

About The Owner

Jeff is an elementary school teacher and Tim is a professional musician and small business owner. We've been happy together for 15 and enjoy hiking, theatre, travel, food, and spending time with friends and family.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2005

Why The Owner chose Asheville Area

We have always loved the Asheville area because of its natural beauty, its emphasis on the arts, and its concern with the environment. We were fortunate enough to make a permanent move to the area in 2005. We love our home and its location here, and we are happy to be able to share a part of it with those who are looking to enjoy a vacation in the Asheville area.

What makes this apartment unique

The best part of our property is the combination of privacy and an 'away from it all' feeling in a beautiful mountain setting while at the same time having access to all the conveniences we need within a 5-10 minute drive.

Enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

This was a comfortable stay in a nice area of the community. It is reasonably convenient to restaurants and stores and a fun area to explore. This is a wooded and hilly neighborhood, so it feels isolated, but it isn't really. But you do need to drive. The apartment is comfortable with everything you might need. I really enjoyed my stay.

Perfect stay for a couple - great location, cozy space, true serenity

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this property. It was simply PERFECT! If you're looking for a high quality, great location, great value, mountain-y feel in NC that's close to everything, stay here!

The location itself is under 10 minutes from Arden/Deer Run where there's plenty of restaurants and groceries for convenience. Downtown Asheville and the Biltmore Village & Estate are all only around 20 minutes away or so. This property is amazing value, considering how close you are to everything and everything the property offers! For a mountainside cabin, the drive up is very smooth - I drove up from South Florida in a small front wheel drive compact (in winter weather; we actually got snow here when we were up) and still had no problems. We used this awesome space as our HQ as we drove all around NC, from Pigsah to Sugar Mountain and everything in between! We stayed for about a week.

As for the space itself, you'll feel like you're in your own place. While it is connected to Tim's main home, you have your own private entrance, walkway, and deck. We felt like we had our own 1 bedroom cottage on the side of a mountain! Furniture and bed are very comfy, space is heated and huge for a couple, kitchen is fully-equipped, TV's in both rooms with hundreds of channels, nice views of the mountains, fast WIFI (Netflix worked great), bathroom is spacious with washer and dryer... there is seriously nothing wrong with this place. Deck could accommodate a couple doing yoga, sitting and reading... pictures don't do this place justice. See it for yourself!

This was our second stay here and we loved it again! Super nice place, feels like home. Very short distance to everything but feels like you're in a cozy mountain retreat away from all of the hustle and bustle. We will stay here again!!

Clean and quiet apartment - perfect vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 10 days with our 2 year old and our miniature Chihuahua. The apartment was very cozy and clean - it looked just like in the pictures! It was pretty high up on the mountain and very peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the little porch reading a book and taking in the mountain views. Because it was so high on the mountain there wasn't really a flat surface for our little one to play outside. However, there was a very nice park with a great playground just 10 minutes away. The kitchen had all basic cooking equipment and if we needed anything extra Tim was happy to provide it immediately. The place was very close to town with a lot of really good restaurants near. I would definitely recommend this place.

Great Place For Nature

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful location nestled in the woods but close to town. All the amenities included. Nice decor. Clean and quiet. Very attentive hosts that are interested in making your stay go well. They know all about the area and can give suggestions for hiking trails, restaurants, and things to do in Asheville.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Never got to meet Jeff, but Tim was a delightful host, very responsive and helpful before we arrived, and the apartment was even better than advertised: immaculate, peaceful, well-appointed, away from it all but close enough to get downtown as often as we wanted to during our stay, and just as close to the Blue Ridge Parkway for our day trip to Mt Mitchell. Enjoyed a lovely view from the deck with our coffee each morning - we imagine the view to be even more lovely in the fall when the leaves are in full color. The bottle of wine and snacks were an especially nice touch, and it was great to be able to bring our little dog, who enjoyed meeting at least one of the poodles and didn't seem to want to leave when it was time to go. :) The road to get to the house is a little narrow, but that's not uncommon for the mountains. And even though I'm not much of a night driver, never had a problem with the navigation. Hope to return some day, thanks Tim and Jeff!
