Picturesque, convenient and comfortable
We had a fabulous time here. The booking process was so simple and Allan and Trish were so easy to get in contact with!
When we arrived the house was nice and warm which made our arrival nice and welcoming. There were some basic food items in the fridge and a bottle of wine which was a nice touch. We were particularly thankful for the fresh coffee that had been left for us as we arrived so late the night before we had not had time to go shopping, so to have coffee there ready for us in the morning was SUCH a blessing!!!!
The house is very well thought out with all the things you would have at home, the only thing we thought the kitchen may benefit from is a large wok or large sauce pan as we were a family of 6 and often had to use two pans to cook for all of us. Not the end of the world I know!
The House itself is beautiful, lovely architecture and quirky little features. It was safe for my son to run around the garden (he is 2) and I had no worries about him rolling down the hill as there is a fairly robust fence surrounding the garden.
The main bedroom which we stayed in was excellent, nice big mirrored wardrobes and en suit with shower and toilet. The other two rooms were also large, both having two single beds in. If you had more couples in your group you could just push the beds together which is what we did! One of the rooms had a sink, which was great for my teenage sister so that she didn’t hog the bathroom. The main bathroom was also fabulous with a bidet and a fancy shower.
Over all we had a fantastic stay here and would recommend Allan and Trish’s place to anyone! We all left saying that was one of the best holidays we had ever been on! We will definitely be returning!
Thank you so much Allan and Trish!
Lovely house in perfect location to explore the Highlands
The house is perfectly located - in the middle of stunning countryside, but just a short drive to amenities in Inverness and very easy access to explore the Highlands including Loch Ness and the Cairngorms.
Vary comfortable holiday home
A very comfortable and cosy house helped make our holiday most enjoyable. The very generous welcoming supplies of wine, cheese and bread (even treats for the dog) also helped. The house is very convenient for Inverness, Loch Ness, Aviemore, Cairngorm and the Black Isle as well as offering enjoyable walks right on its doorstep. Recommended.
A beautiful peaceful location with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Very well equipped, comfortable property which is surprisingly spacious. Would recommend for anyone who is looking for a quiet, peaceful, comfortable base to explore the highlands.
Very cosy cottage
Really impressed with the cottage. It was clean, exactly as seen in the pictures and we had all the necessary supplies
Thank you so much for your kind words, we are so glad you enjoyed your holiday to the highlands
Scottish haven from the hustle and bustle of Christmas.
Larchfield is a lovely place to unwind and relax. The owner Allan has created a wonderful bungalow which has everything you need for a good holiday. It is very well equipped and the hamper with milk, etc means you can have a nice cuppa before unpacking and going to get supplies.
The position of the property is ideal, remote enough to be quiet but also close enough to Inverness for shopping. Inverness is a lovely city, with many nice shops, including lots of Tesco's, one Morrisons and an Asda to pick up essentials. Your dogs are catered for by a large pets at home next to tesco. Sainsbury's is out at Nairn, which is 16 miles east of Inverness. It is a nice seaside town with amazing beaches. We did live in Nairn for 6 yrs in the 1990's so know the area well.
Our trip was over Christmas and New Year and we couldn't have had better weather! White Christmas, and White New Year! We played in the snow with the dogs and even managed to build a snowman, but Milo the Boxer barked at him! There are even sledges for you to use, although we didn't give them a try, except to help clear the driveway of snow! Snowy walks with the dogs were the order of the day on Boxing Day. The driveway can get slippery, but Allan provided a good supply of salt to spread on it.
For dogs, it's a perfect holiday home for them. Ours go everywhere with us on holiday so it was great to find such a dog friendly property. Our Labrador, Ben and Boxer Milo enjoyed the forest walks straight from the gate! They too are catered for with treats, dog towels for those wet walks, and even bowls all provided!
The property is ideal for those with mobility problems. There are just two steps up into the hall. No baths but 2 showers and WC's which for us is ideal. Our party consisted of our 90 yr old father and our adult daughter and her partner so it has ample space for 5 adults!
The kitchen is very well equipped. Everything is provided for. The induction hob does take a bit of getting used to, but when you get the hang of it it's very much like gas, quick to boil and quick to turn down. The oven is also good, but we went to a local hotel, Waterside Hotel, in Inverness for our Christmas meal. I soon worked out the cooker and how to drive the hob!
Having the utility room meant we could keep the dog food, dog coats, washing, (which was a breeze with the washing machine and tumble dryer) out of the way.
I would recommend a trip to Larchfield, and would like to just say we will be back
Private but only a short drive to Inverness and the airport. A great base for cycling and walking. Loch Ness and the Isle of Skye are easy to get to. The aviemore ski centre and other adventure activities can all be accessed nearby. Wildlife is easy to spot from the windows and peaceful scenery where author Alistair Maclean once lived here. The house is only 20 minutes from the new castle stuart golf course where the scottish open championship is to be held for the next 3 years.
