About Mitchell Hentkowski
I grew up just 7 miles down Leer Rd from the cabin and never really noticed this place growing up. I went into the military right out of high school and ended up living in Oklahoma. Through the years when we would visit family each summer we would leave and talk about finding some property that we could build a summer home. Once we saw this place with the land, we knew this is what we were looking for.
Mitchell Hentkowski purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Mitchell Hentkowski chose Posen
It was my Brother who told me this property was available When you walk the trails and see the beauty of this land you will know why it was, in that instant that I knew this was a place we wanted to stay each year when I "come home". That fall when I walked the property it was past the time of fall colors, but I could see the summertime beauty everywhere I turned. Listening to the water cascade over the old Grist Mill Dam is hypnotic. Seeing some of Northern Michigan's largest and oldest Hemlock Tree's whistling in the wind adds to the serenity of this property. When I pull into the drive each time I visit, I realize the 17 hour drive was worth it.
What makes this Cabin unique
If you are looking for a vacation that the only thing you have to do is relax, then this is the place for you. Sitting on one of the 3 decks over looking the Thunder Bay River and Mill Pond, you can listen the birds for as long as you like. If you like to fish, the river and pond will provide a mixture of Northern pike, Bass and pan fish. If you enjoy swimming you can do that also, either out by the deck or down by the mill. There is a canoe and a paddle boat to enjoy the river and pond. You can walk the nearly two miles of trails through acres of beautiful Northern Michigan hardwood forest. Or you can take a nap in the hammock. In the evening you can start a fire in the pit, sit on the swing and watch one of the most beautiful sunsets you will see anywhere. If you enjoy taking pictures, get up early and see if you can catch the local Eagles or possibly the family of Otters or Beavers. We have Canadian Geese nesting with us on the pond each year. Once you visit, you will understand why the words I have here cannot give justice to this wonderful land, and why when you visit you also will look forward to the next time you can visit.

Had 14 people in the middle of winter here and it didn't feel small anywhere in the cabin "lodge". Mitch is great to set up with. Tammy is a wonderful and helpful caretaker. I bet the summer is even better. The coffee pot seems like it takes forever, but we had 14 people, so that could have been the problem. Lol. Hope to stay again sometime.
Oh, and don't be those people whom ruin it for everyone else. Take care of your rentals. Without people like this that open there homes up to others, we may not get to make the memories we get to at this level. It isn't the same at a hotel.
Mitch, thank you for opening your home up to us. We all had an unforgettable time. That place is one of a kind.
This place was perfect! All the bells and whistles !
Our family just recently stayed at the cabin. The entire home is absolutely amazing with all of the details we were looking for. Everyone corner and nook in this home was very authentic in its cabin feel. This is a perfect location for any family to go every year. Tammy was who we dealt with and she was absolutely delightful. So sweet and accommodating to all of our questions and concerns. She was available to us during the entire day via text or email. They’re kind nature made this house a warm and welcoming experience. We got everything we could have dreamed of this cabin experience. We’re already looking to come back in the spring!
Great New Year celebrations !!!
It was the best New Year celebrations in my life. Everything was new, clean and organized. The cabin is in very good condition, everything new. Tammy is very helpful and friendly person. They even putted a Christmas tree for us. Everything was great and will be back 100%. Thank you so much for making our New Year’s mood better!
This cabin is very nice. Everything is new and very well equipped.
It is peaceful and the views are amazing . We loved the sofa on the pond/river overlook.
The only things we missd were a hair dryer and a bigger toaster.
We highly recommend this cabin!
We absolutely loved this place! Initially our plans for our weekend family vacation was to spend a day in Roger's City. However, when we got to the cabin we realized we didn't have to leave, and this was much better than the beach! The river was so serene and peaceful, it was like a story book. We went kayaking in the mornings and fishing in the afternoons. Though we didn't swim in the river, our kids had plenty of things to do to enjoy themselves. The location is so private this really is a hidden secret. We enjoyed bonfires and grilling on the beautiful deck, as well as admired the gorgeous views. The inside was huge, clean, and so nicely decorated. The pool table was also a bonus. Though there were some flies, being by a river we were so pleased that there were no mosquitos at all. We didn't have to use an ounce of bug spray the entire weekend. Tammy & Julie were friendly, easy to be reached, and were accommodating to our arrival time. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and even got a few inquiries after people saw our pictures. We wish we could have stayed all week!
Very clean and very large!
The property was very nicely updated with plenty of room for my whole family. The outdoor space was perfect for having a fire and relaxing in the evening. The kayaks and canoe were nice to go explore the river. There was a wedding near by that the owner mentioned but it didn't affect our stay at all. I would recommend this cabin to others.
