About Paul and Darlene Kuriscak

At age 8 or 9, I saw a magazine photo of Alaska's Mt. McKinley and at that time I determined to come to Alaska which I did at age 17 and been here 40 years. I love this great land and all it has to offer with its majestic scenery and amazing wildlife.

Paul and Darlene Kuriscak purchased this house in 1983

Why Paul and Darlene Kuriscak chose Anchorage

I purchased this home in Anchorage, Alaska, when it was new. Back then, it sat on the edge of town and now it is situated in a safe, quiet residential area where you might see our neighborhood moose.

This duplex style ranch house shares a wall with our neighbor who has lived there for many, many years and so we can assure a QUIET stay.

We offer easy and convenient coded access for late night check-in and PRIVACY. However, if you need anything we are only a phone call away.

Cleanliness and sanitation is a top priority for us so we launder everything including mattress protectors and blankets after EVERY guest. We do not allow pets to insure a sanitary and allergy-free environment.

Family friendly.

We support our military. Ask about our military special.

What makes this house unique

Convenient central location close to hospitals and University UAA and highway access. 10-15 minutes to downtown or airport

Quiet dead-end residential street location

Duplex ranch-style house with open-plan concept and handy laundry room in the house.

It is a fully equipped house situated at the end of a quiet residential street with off-street parking right at the front door and a private fenced backyard, BBQ grill, firepit, table and chairs.

All on one level with only 2 steps to the front porch and easy coded deadbolt access for arrival at any time of day or night.

This recently updated house, convenient to the airport and downtown, is centrally located for local attractions and excellent day trips south to the Kenai Peninsula and north to places like historical Talkeetna.

Located within minutes of miles of multi-use trails, BLM land, parks, recreation area, golf courses, water park, mini-golf, paint ball, shopping mall, grocery store, and dining.

A 48 inch TV with 100-channel cable and a DVD player provides entertainment.

High speed Wi-Fi internet

Sleeps up to 6 with 2 queen bedrooms and a queen LazyBoy sleeper sofa with innerspring mattress in the living area.

Full size washer and dryer in separate in-home laundry room.

Full size kitchen, fully equipped.

Separate dining room seats 6.

Private fenced backyard with BBQ grill, firepit, and table and chairs.

Plenty of off-street parking right at the front door. (Plowed in winter)

ALL linens are washed including blankets after every guest.

You might even spot our occasional neighborhood moose (see photos).

Our stay in Anchorage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights while we were in Anchorage and it was perfect. The owners were great and easy to contact. The house is located in a very quiet neighborhood and close to everything. It was exceptionally clean. We have used Home Away many times and this was by far the nicest home we have stayed in. Thank you Paul and Darlene.

Outstanding Visit

  • 5 of 5

This house worked well for the three of us visiting Anchorage. Well situated for the hiking activities we had planned. We saw 7 moose in Kincade Park right from the trail. You must drive to matanuska glacier, a must see! We went to Whittier for a glacier cruise and saw a humpback whale and visited the Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage. Seward was nice and Valdez was foggy but saw many water falls near that area. The house slept four adults comfortably and was very clean. Groceries and food are close and we had everything we needed if we cooked at the home. I would stay or recommend this home to others that are in the Anchorage area!

Perfect beautiful vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for 2 weeks and it was clear when you stepped in, the house was well maintained and very clean. The kitchen was stocked with all the basic supplies needed. We loved coming home in the evenings to comfortable beds and there is plenty of storage space in the closets. The lawn was well kept, you can tell the owners take care of their property. We even enjoyed a bbq in the backyard. The neighborhood is quiet and close to everything you would need. It is a lovely property and I would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you for the hospitality!

Very well maintained

  • 4 of 5

Our sons and their families stayed here for a week in July. They said it was clean and comfortable with lots to offer (larger washer/dryer; expanded TV channels; comfortable beds). Photos are accurate. The house is on a cul de sac so through traffic is minimal; but it was summertime and the long daylight hours prompt neighborhood activity well past some bedtimes -- that was the only drawback given the group included a young child and some light sleepers. A large fan or white noise phone app could have remedied. Other than that -- the place worked very well for the group.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback which is appreciated. The house is actually located at the end of a dead-end street not a cul-de-sac so there is no through traffic. We are sorry for some noise experienced during this July stay which in AK means midnight sun. The city's quiet hours are until 10 pm so if anyone experiences noise after that we would appreciate notification so that we can address it right away. We are always available by text or phone. We have added in a white-noise spa machine for light sleepers just in case because our goal is for each guest to enjoy their stay.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This little home was perfect for our Alaska trip. Close to everything! We loved calling this our "Alaska house" while we were there. Beds are comfy, very clean kitchen and bathroom, lots of closet space and a small yard for the kiddos to run in. The neighborhood is nice and quiet too. This was much preferred over a hotel room! Loved the decor and little updates here and there. And, having kids, the ability to wash clothes was awesome. Will definitely book this cutie when we return next summer!

This is a great place

  • 5 of 5

This is a great unit. Everything is super new, very clean, very comfortable. I loved the location, close enough to get around town easily, but also far enough into the neighborhood to be extra quiet. Also, it is super private. The owners were great and very helpful throughout the process. My wife seriously took notes about decoration and design so we could do some of the same things in our home (loved the tile flooring in the bathroom and kitchen). We definitely plan to look here first for all of our future trips to Anchorage.
