Boca Grande (formally known as Gasparilla Island) is located off the southwest coast of Florida. North of Naples and south of Sarasota, it's part of the 'barrier chain' of islands that includes Sanibel and Captiva. Connected to mainland by a short, tolled causeway, what makes Boca Grande unique are it's miles of beaches and it's tranquil, relaxed, Old Florida feel: no highrises, no malls, no traffic lights, and no neon signs.
Despite it's small size (7 miles long and a half a mile wide), there is a wonderfully charming town on the island with excellent shopping, several very good restaurants, boat excursions, fresh shrimp boat, Yoga/Pilates spa, cool coffee shop and lots of shore birds to watch. You will have found a unique spot for total relaxation. Have been here for more than 20 years and still find new things to explore! Shangri-La stateside.
You will not be disappointed. Typical comments of guests include:
'The ocean views were breathtaking!'
'Manny makes a great daiquiri! The food and drinks were delicious!'
'I loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves...I've never been so relaxed!'
Boca Grande is the Tarpon Capital of the World-check out the local paper: Boca Beacon on line for all island events.
Beachfront, Private Membership Club that allows units to be rented for 30 days or less.
I have loved discovering Boca Grande Island. There are few places in the world that are this easy to get to and yet offer the ultimate in privacy and relaxation that do not require traveling to a more exotic location. Anyone who I have ever taken to Boca Grande remembers it with great fondness.
I know that when I need to practice self care~Boca Grande is in my thoughts.
Nancy Valentine purchased this condo in 1989
Privacy was a major attraction along with the wildlife preserve atmosphere and the gorgeous, pristine beaches with few people.
It is a great spot for bird watching, shelling, reading and catching up on your interior life.
Located at the top of the Sanibel/Captiva chain of islands on the west coast of Florida, few who have discovered Boca Grande, ever return to the more well known Sanibel/Captiva resorts. The fact that Boca Grande has not suffered from the impact of development and commercializtion, it has conserved its original charm and intimacy with nature and the Gulf of Mexico on which it floats.
I also enjoy the fact that there is a year around community of residents and with this comes a well maintained community center, charming churches, a quaint town of shops, post office, yoga/pilates center, fire station, gorgeous library, and good restaurants.
This is a place where many wealthy people buy vacation homes in order to get away anonymously and safely with their children. It is a safe, relaxed community that takes pride in enjoying what nature has to offer in a tropical-like setting.
I suggest you do food and wine shopping before crossing the causeway bridge, as once you settle into the unit, you will not want to go any further than the beach. A magical spell will come over you once you realize that everything you need is right within reach, so you can actually relax and not worry about anything other that getting in touch with yourself and your family/friends. No theme parks, noise and commotion, you will find your self on one of the best vacations of your life!
If you have time to go off island, explore the ferry to Palm Island and their restaurant, Englewood beach with opportunities to rent jet skis, or drive up to Sarasota and take a day or two to visit the Barnum and Bailey Circus museum.

Family of 3 (son 10)
Wow! We were all wonderfully pleased upon opening the front door and entering room for the first time. An entire bank of ceiling to floor windows that extended the entire length of the condo from the living room through to the veranda. Only glass doors separate the two rooms so the view is unobstructed. We had that giddy laughter that only comes from being exceedingly pleased.
After unpacking and getting settled in we encountered an issue with the remote for TV, called front office and within minutes we were up and running. Nice.
The furnishings are all upscale and ample, as well as the kitchen supplies. The linens for bed, bath and even the kitchen were luxurious!
We did plenty. Beach, fishing, pool (food-is good, better than most pool-sides we've been to), and some good fishing location tips from bartender, bike rides, and golf cart rentals very affordable and drove it to center of town three times.
Our son didn't want to leave, nor did we.
When we got home, realized we left a case of Corona in condo. Emailed owner and she forwarded to Club personnel (and once again with the great service) within minutes they confirmed they had it and would save it for us for when we swing by on our next fishing trip to Boca Grande.
This is technically my first ever hotel review. We travel much. Commute between Portland Oregon and Cape Coral monthly. Yes, I said monthly. I chose to write this one frankly because the owner deserves it. Owner has definitely thought of everything vacationers would want, and she has provided it. Parting words after hearing Corona was found and set aside for us, and I thanked the team, she wrote "We aim to please." And you know what?, they REALLY DO!
We will be back for an even longer stay next time.
A helpful hint for first timers, get your groceries before heading across the pay bridge to Boca Grande. Publix just down the street with liquor store and a redbox. All together.
This was the perfect place for our anniversary celebration. Fantastic views, immaculate, tasteful, and comfortable. Barefoot elegance.
Very nice condo: great location, comfortable furniture and very nice bed linens. The club has everything you could want except golf. Very nice indeed.
This is the perfect setting for the ultimate relaxing vacation. The view is simply breathtaking. To start the day by waking up to the magnificent view of the Gulf from bed is amazing. What a relaxing and rejuvinating vacation! Lazy days on the beach gazing out at the Gulf, bird watching, shell collecting, and swimming in the pool (which includes a view of the Gulf) are truly sublime. The place is beautifully decorated and the ultimate location for watching a gorgeous sunset. A taste of paradise indeed!
Such a beautiful place to escape to...spend your day relaxing and unwinding on the beach or swimming in the club's pool. The view of the Gulf is gorgeous and invites long walks to collect shells and take in the spectacular sunsets. The Gulf is sparkling clean and was so nice and warm. Enjoyed every minute...it was so hard to leave. The unit is nicely decorated and offers all the comforts of home...but it's located in paradise!
