Quiet and simple, but not primitive. The kitchen is stocked with the basic cooking equipment and a gas stove. The bathroom is beautiful with a large walk-in, tiled shower and an incinerator toilet. The loft has one regular size bed.
The road to the cabin is gravel and has steep places with sharp curves. It is passable in a car if taken slow. A four-wheel-drive is recommended in the winter when it snows.
While staying in our cabin you can eat at the famous Miguel’s Pizza or at the Rock House Café. You can entertain yourself by visiting Natural Bridge and hike on the many trails or ride the sky lift. If you are up for big adventure there is the Red River Gorge zipline. In the evening you can even go to the Drive-in for a movie. If you like to antique shop, there is the Stanton Antique Mall.
Cancellation Policy: No refunds if cancellation occurs less than 30 days prior to arrival date.

We had a wonderful time during our 2 night stay in Glaucomys Suite. The cabin is very unique and there is so much detail in the structure and layout. We loved the style of the kitchen and had fun cooking meals on the gas stove. Toilet took a little getting used to, but was not as bad as we anticipated. The drive up to the cabin was comparable to off roading. We would recommend having 4 wheel drive, however there were many 2 wheel drive cars up there at other cabins. Other cabins were near, but they were not in sight and we never heard anyone else during our stay. The back porch was perfect for sitting and drinking coffee in the morning. On the down side, we were disappointed that the cabin was not clean. It was in need of a deep cleaning and this is what we would expect when there is such a high cleaning fee you are required to pay. Another area of disappointment was the apparent renovations being done on the cabin ( several large dry wall patching throughout the main living area.) This would not have bothered us if we were informed prior to our stay. We did have problems getting into the cabin when we first arrived, however we were able to get ahold of the owners right away and they were very helpful. If you are looking for a quite get away this would be a good place to go. We love the Red River Gorge area. Recommend eating at Miguels Pizza as well as the Sky Bridge Station.
Very cute cabin with very unique interior. I loved the old gas stove and the cast iron cook ware! Back porch and fire pit outside were also great.
The only complaint we have is that the cabin needed some cleaning. Some of the cook ware was not usable, because it was so grimey, and everything was very dusty. It's a great policy to have guests leave the place the way they found it, but you cannot solely rely on that.
My adult daughter and I stayed at the cabin for a long weekend father-daughter trip.
It was a short drive to both Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge for hiking, which we did plenty of.
There is not much for supplies nearby, but hitting the next exit on the interstate got us groceries and supplies.
The cabin seemed a bit small at first, but then it seemed just right. Back deck was nice for reading and listening to the rain and inside it was surprisingly warm and cozy. Sleep came easy.
One thing that took us a while to catch was that the heater in the living room has a switch on the top/back of the right side of it, that turns it on. Once it turns on, it doesn't need to be on for long. It puts out plenty of heat and the cabin holds it well.
We cooked several meals in the kitchen and had no trouble with what looked liked an old stove. We cooked both on the stove and in the oven and the food came out just fine. There is plenty of china and silverware. The small "dorm" sized fridge was the right size.
The bathroomn is well done and interesting. Gave me some ideas for my own bathroom. Shower is plenty big and the is ample hot water and water pressure.
I ended up folding out the couch for sleeping, though if more than one bed is needed, you might conside a blow-up one.
Since there is no TV, which is a good thing, we ended up listening to the iPod, which was hooked in to a small amp, all weekend. There was a really good selection of good music on it. Some 6,000 songs.
Just after we turned on to KY 77, we stopped for a load of firewood. There were 3 men selling dry wood and they were complete gentlemen. Did a nice job of loading wood in to the car and making sure we had ample kindling.
Only issue was all the rain, which did not stop us from hiking, but did keep us from being able to make "Hobos" in the fire. Ended up making them in the oven, but it was not quite as much fun.
Overall it was a great trip and we hated to leave. We got just what he hoped for out of the cabin.
Cabin had significant gas leak in stove.
The odor was so strong that we needed to vacate the premise. It was overwhelming upon immediate entry and did not seem to dissipate, as we were told it would when we had first called about the issue.
Person promised to meet with 4wheeler to take luggage was not available, although the service was supposedly offered. Later we found out they were not even in the same state during our stay...
Refund was issued and promise to reschedule was extended. However, the property management did not follow up to schedule a date - so probably an empty gesture on their behalf. The vacation stay had to be postponed because of the incident.
Needless to say... I am weary of renting again with this company & would not suggest this property for your cabin vacation.
My boyfriend and I rented the cabin for three nights for a Gorge get away weekend. We loved it. It's rustic and private which we loved. The layout and design are great; the shower is awesome! I was a bit worried about us being able to manage the gas stove but we followed the directions given by the owner and it was so easy! As one reviewer wrote, the road up is narrow and gravel but we managed it in a Jetta (though it would be hard to get up in a regular car if there's ice on the road so just check the weather!). Beautiful views. We'll definitely be going back and will recommend the cabin to others.
Cozy & comfortable cabin with much attention to details. Perfect setting to “disconnect” from the distractions of everyday life and slow down to enjoy all that is beautiful in the area. Cannot wait to visit again and enjoy this ideal cabin in the woods!
