About Barbara

We have lived on the Saanich Peninsula Since 1999 and have recently moved to Sidney to experience it's many charms. Both Barb and Mike can help you find whatever you are looking for in the area and are always glad to share Sidney and the Saanich Pennisula's many attractions! This area is truely a wonderful treasure on the west coast.

We both have FRENCH as a second language and welcome the opportunity to practice speaking it whenever we can!

Barbara purchased this townhome in 2012

Why Barbara chose Vancouver Island

We first relocated to Brentwood Bay on Vancouver Island from Ottawa, ON in 1999 with the intention of giving our three boys a different living experience in another part of Canada. We’ve never turned back. The West Coast life style is the perfect fit for our family. As the boys grew up and started moving out, we decided to relocate from our suburban home in Brentwood to the vibrant small coastal town of Sidney-by-the-Sea. This wonderful friendly sea side town offers everything at your finger tips. We are truly enjoying the life style change and the absolute convenience this location provides us and for the many guests that we are hosting here at Sidney Mews. Let us share with you the many delightful attractions, Sidney, the Saanich Peninsula and Victoria have to offer. Come, stay and explore this slice of paradise that we have come to love. Like us, you’ll be glad you did! Barbara and Mike

What makes this townhome unique

We both enjoy the opportunity to speak FRENCH and enjoy practicing the second language whenever we get the chance with people we meet. Sidney Mews has an ideal Location, centrally located in Town yet away from the major bustle! You can even see the water at the end of our street. Best of Both Worlds!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was our 2nd visit to Sidney Mews this June 2015 which speaks volumes about our views. You go over the top to make our visit special. We love the location and the comfortable homey feel that you've created. The little touches are much appreciated and not at all little! We love Sidney and the opportunity to visit dear friends. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. We will be back again.

Extraordinary

  • 5 of 5

After five nights at Sidney Mews we were NOT ready to leave back to the world. We feel in love with the quaint town of Sidney and it's friendly, kind people! Besides being a quiet, cozy "home away from home", Barbara added special little touches to make it extraordinary. There was fresh fruit and yummy bakery items to enjoy, robes, and oh, the warm bathroom floor, my feet were in love, among other little surprises!! The outside deck and water feature was so soothing. And, the little Eastview Park was just around the corner. We loved our walks and hikes in the area. We enjoyed using the picnic basket that was provided as we explored the Island. The street faire on Thursday night was fun. Barbara is sweet and friendly and knowledgeable about the area! We would love to come and stay again sometime!!

Owner's Response: I'm happy that you enjoyed your visit to Canada and specifically here in Sidney! It was great to hear that you took advantage of the Picnic Tote that we always have on hand for our guests. There are so many out door picnic tables always available to use close by on the Ocean. You don't have to go far to get a great view! It was truly a pleasure meeting our American neighbors! Have a safe journey back to California. Hope to see you again! 5 days isn't nearly long enough to see and do all the things we have close by. With fond farewells....Barbara

Lovely suite in the quaint town of Sidney

  • 5 of 5

Nicely furnished clean accommodations in a very convenient location. The outside deck and pond complete with a waterfall was gorgeous. My husband really appreciated the espresso machine that Barbara had set up for us. We really enjoyed watching the Canada Day parade with Barbara and Mike. The Thursday night market in town was amazing. To top this off the ocean is only a 5 minute walk from the suite. I'll look forward to returning.................

Owner's Response: Thank you for your complements. I'm so very glad that you had such an enjoyable visit here on the Island. Summers are great and I have to agree with you, that the Thursday Night Street Market on Beacon is truly amazing and loads of fun!!! Its a street party every Thursday through out the summer and to have it so close to our home, can't be beat. We had such fun sharing Canada Day with both of you. Hope you'll be back and go and do all the things you ran out of time for on your first visit. Cheers and have a great remainder of you summer with all your family events! Barb and Mike

Beautiful romantic setting in quiet Sidney

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to Sidney and Vancouver Island. We were wonderfully welcomed to a superbly comfortable and beautifully decorated vacation home by Barb and Mike. The hospitality was beyond compare. Two minute walk to the ocean and just over an hour bike ride to Victoria. Just a few minutes drive from the Victoria Airport as well as the ferry from mainland BC. Fantastic location, setting, amenities, food, friendliness. Very quiet setting and very romantic backyard. Can't say enough good things. Thank you Barb and Mike - we will be back - promise!

Owner's Response: I'm so happy that you enjoyed your first West Coast Island experience so immensely. You had such wonderful spring weather during your stay that made all that cycling you did so enjoyable. Mike and I where so impressed that you biked all the way into Victoria!! We will have to work on that ourselves too. Good inspiration! The restaurants and wineries that we recommend seemed to have been well received and enjoyed. We like to make each guest's visit an unique experience for them. Enjoy your trip back to Montreal. Hope to see you back again... there is still lots more to see!! Cheers Barb
