Completed in 2009, Villa Alexander is one of only 4 beautifully designed villas that make up the small, exclusive development of Gennadi Hills. Located on the edge of the traditional, year round village of Gennadi on the South East coast. Ideally situated in peaceful surroundings, just a few minutes stroll to the village where there is a good range of facilities including supermarket, bakery, green-grocery, pharmacy, medical centre, motor cycle hire and a number of bars and tavernas. A short walk takes you to one of the island's coveted blue flag beaches and beach front tavernas. The villa's split level, air-conditioned ground floor comprises a fully fitted kitchen, lounge, separate dining area and bathroom. The two en-suite bedrooms on the first floor have their own private sea view balconies and air-conditioning. Outside there is a south facing private pool, gardens, 2 large terrace areas ideal for sunbathing, alfresco dining) a traditional Greek BBQ and ample off road parking.

Travel: Rhodes airport is approximately a 60 minute drive (60km). Car hire is recommended and widely available, however the village is served by a regular bus service which will take you where you need to go at very low fares. Taxis are also good value and can take you to and from the airport.

Special interest holidays: Approximately 17km from Prasonissi, a paradise for water sports including kite surfing and windsurfing. Scuba diving trips can be arranged from Rhodes town. Local shops, restaurants, bars, supermarket and ATM within walking distance. Various activities are available in the area, for example, hiking, horse-riding, cycling, off-road 4x4 adventures, water sports, fishing and boat trips.

Outside: South facing private pool (7.5 by 3.5 metre) which is treated and maintained on a regular basis. Secure garden with lawn and flower beds. 2 large terrace areas with patio table, chairs and sun lounges. A traditional Greek BBQ. Parking for at least two cars. The road to the villa has street lighting.

About Derek and Janet Biles

We live and work near Plymouth in South West England after relocating from along the coast in Dorset where our five grown up children and four grandchildren live.

We started holidaying in Rhodes in 2002 and like many visitors we fell in love with the beauty of the island, the history and the hospitality of Rhodians.

In 2007 we decided to look at buying a holiday home and potential retirement property.

Derek and Janet Biles purchased this villa in 2008

Why Derek and Janet Biles chose Rhodes

There was never any question that Rhodes was where we wanted to buy and having got to know the Island well and looking at properties in various locations we decided that the traditional village of Gennadi, away from the busy tourist areas yet has everything you could want within walking distance, was the ideal setting.

It was in late 2008, after much searching, we looked at the concrete shells that were to become the Gennadi Hills properties. Our minds were made up when we saw the fantastic views over the sea, the equally beautiful mountains along the coast above Pefkos and the wonderful landscape towards the southern tip of the island. The design is in keeping with the traditional look of the village yet with a modern feel.

The villa was completed in June 2009 and we spent a busy few weeks furnishing and equipping it to ensure our guests had everything they needed for a relaxing holiday. The villa is named after Derek’s late father, as fittingly Alexander is a prominent name in Greek history.

What makes this villa unique

We have enjoyed holidays with our parents, children and grandchildren at the villa. We love our time in Gennadi and enjoy nothing more than being able to sit outside until late at night in the peaceful surroundings and then waking up to the glorious views in the morning. Due to work commitments we can only visit a few times a year at present, however it gives us a great deal of pleasure when people have enjoyed their holidays at Villa Alexander and say that they have had a peaceful, relaxing, and fulfilling time.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your villa was fantastic. Weather was in the late 30's early 40's. Thanks for a fab holiday. I would definitely recommend it to my friends & family.

Fantastic Villa in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a relaxing stay in this fantastic villa. Everything was just as described and was spotless. Gennadi is a lovely little town and well located for trips to Lindos and Prassonisi etc but we found it hard to tear ourselves away from the pool. We would highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.

We had a wonderful stay at the Villa Alexander, and were very glad to be staying in this part of the island away from the crowds! From here it is easy to make day trips to other parts of the islands where there is a lot to see. Do not forget to drive inlands! The phrase 'the sound of silence' is coming real there.

I agree with the one of the other reviews about the driveway, otherwise I would have rated this property 'Excellent'.

ps Go to the beach for a sun set, beautiful!

A wonderful place for a relaxing holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Our week in Rhodes simply flew by and we are now back in the sunny (!) UK. We enjoyed our holidays immensely! It is our fourth summer of villa holidays and we all agree this was the best so far. The house is fantastic, the location wonderful and the beach one of the best we've been to despite it being a pebble one. We also took the kids to Prassonissi a couple of times for some sand-castle building and did a few trips to historic places. Your pocket guide on Rhodes and the Greek phrasebook came in very handy. Having seen the busy tourist resorts we were happy to have chosen your villa in such an idyllic location that allowed us to escape the crowds and truly relax. Everything in the house seems to have been made for the convenience of the guests and it reminded us again why we chose villa holidays in the first place. There is a good selection of DVDs and Playstation games which helped entertain the kids during those hottest hours and we all enjoyed having our dinner on the terrace overlooking the pool and listening to cicadas or at the local taverna. We'll definitely consider going back! Thank you!

This villa has the WOW factor!!

  • 5 of 5

This new villa, in the typically Greek village of Gennadi, gained the approval of my three son's (always hard to please) as soon as we got there. After a 12 hour journey to get there, including an hour long car journey from Rhodes Airport, our stresses disappeared very quickly. The directions supplied got us right to the villa. As you walk through the front door into a large lounge area with seating for 6-7 people everything you need for a relaxing holiday is catered for. The bedrooms are small but adequate. The 3 bathrooms in the villa certainly help a larger family although because of water pressure issues you can't use all 3 showers at the same time. Outside the pool area is fantastic. We spent many lovely days there relaxing and you need the pool in July and August to cool off!! We also enjoyed our meals outside the villa sitting til 10pm watching out for the owl swooping. We saw it twice.

The village of Gennadi is lovely, Mama's Kitchen is a great place to eat. Yiannis, the waiter, is very good and the food is lovely. Plenty of good places to enjoy a drink for such a small village. If you want a quiet holiday this villa will provide it but a car is essential to get around the island.

Villa Alexander

  • 5 of 5

A superb, modern villa on the edge of the sleepy village of Gennadi - just 4 minutes walk from the village centre where you'll find a well stocked supermarket, greengrocers, pharmacy and very tempting bakery! There's a couple of small bars and two restaurants offering well priced and enjoyable Greek and international dishes. The villa is ideal for those looking for a relaxing holiday - good pool, private location, sea views, and well equipped kitchen. There's plenty of room outside and in, with a large terrace and garden and an air conditioned living area that also offers DVD's / Play Station / TV . The bedrooms aren't huge, but that doesn't seem that important as they are big enough and have wardrobes and balconies (just be careful with little ones - we have a 2yr old and there wasnt a problem) The drive is possibly the only poorly designed part of the villa, it's narrow and angled. As for days out, Lindos is only a 30 min drive and Glystra Beach is a must if you like quiet, sandy beaches where as Lardos Beach has more to offer in terms of amenities but is shingle and v loud! One last thing to watch out for is the Owl in the building to the rear - an amazing sight. We had a fantastic and very relaxing holiday and will certainly be returning.

nettes Ferienhaus, mit Abschlägen

  • 3 of 5
