Located on desirable Eastern Shore Penninsula, Water on both sides of the house, 80 foot dock on one side, tie up buoys on the other. Two houses in one: upstairs (separate entrance) has one bedroom, one bath, large kitchen, bar, living room, dining room and deck.
Downstairs(separate entrance) has two bedrooms, two baths, kitchen with bar and deck. Both have flat screen tvs and cable with internet. Rent up or down or both. For your comfort and privacy I only rent to one group at a time.
The water is generally smooth on at least one side of the house for swimming, floating on rafts, etc. There are reefs within snorkeling distance off the front, with lobster, grouper, and other marine life. Fish from the new dock, or just sit and enjoy a drink and the beautiful view!
The house has airconditioning in every room, or open up the windows and doors and enjoy the ocean breeze. And there is plenty of reading, resting and snorkeling, It is an easy walk to the ferry dock if you want to explore Hopetown. It is just a short walk to Boat harbour Marina where you can enjoy poolside dining or relax inside with air conditioning.
The Jib Room, Snappas, Curly tails and other restaurants are just a short drive- maybe two miles. You can walk it and burn off the calories!
If you want to explore, its is walking distance to rent bicycles or an auto or to one of the dive shops for a truly unigue diving experience.

We visited Abaco for almost twenty years and were finaly able to purchase a home. The beautiful water, friendly people and laid back enviroment sold us, and it will capture you too.
Be at the any number of great restaurants and shops in just minutes. Extremely convenient! We have a boat (you can rent one from several places) and we enjoy fishing, diving, snorkeling and exploring outer cays like Hopetown, Guana, Turtle Cay and Treasure Cay and to visit Pete's Pub in Little Harbour.
Our family stayed at Wheelhouse for a week during Spring Break. It was a great house for the value! It is convenient to everything and the kids were able to snorkel right at the boat dock and ramp. We saw a spotted eagle ray, a caribbean squid, star fish, and numerous other sea creatures without having to leave the house. Unfortunately, the water was quite rough and we were not able to venture out far, but we thoroughly enjoyed our trip!!!
I recently stayed here with 3 friends in April 2015. The house is not fancy, but it is highly functional. When we arrived, the gas tank was empty; however, we called and it was filled the following morning. It was not a problem, we used the stove downstairs. The door locks have some issues and may need replacing. The front door would not stay shut without a concrete block to hold it shut. These few things were minor issues for us. We had a great stay and the views are outstanding. Fortunately, the two adjacent properties were not occupied, so we had plenty of privacy. You will need a rental car or taxi to get around. I really recommend this rental.
We stayed at Wheelhouse with 3 couples for 4 nights. The house is a basic nice rental property. Very close to the ferry dock. Nice neighborhood and beautiful views.
Nice deck on second floor that was great in the evenings to relax. The deck will probably need to be replaced in the next few years as there are several supports and top boards that are seriously rotting due to the moisture and salt air.
Kitchen has all the basic needs for a renter. House was clean and communication with the Management Company was easy.
One reason we selected this property was the availability of its private dock. We rented a boat for our stay at Blue Wave Rentals but were not allowed to leave the boat at the property's dock overnight because the rental company considered the dock unprotected. So unfortunately we incurred a lot of time and taxi expense getting back and forth to Marsh Harbour to retrieve the rental boat every morning and night. If renting a boat, I would confirm if you will be allowed to keep the boat at the property's dock if that is important to you.
Wheelhouse is located on Eastern Shores and is a mile or two from the center of Marsh Harbour. A car or taxi is necessary to get around town.
We stayed in the upstairs unit for a week and enjoyed the views and favored the rear deck looking south. The interior is basic but comfortable with a nice dining area, open kitchen, and one bedroom facing north towards Man-O-War.
The main cause for the mediocre rating was that the hot water was unusable. There was significant contamination with hydrogen sulfide, a poisonous and smelly gas, caused by water left standing in the hot water tank. We notified the manager on Tuesday. The problem was not fixed when we left on Saturday. The laundry facilities were not affected by the problem and we appreciated their availability.
There is a bbq constructed from cement blocks which was not effective for us.
We highly recommend several things: Little Harbour (Pete's Pub), Oasis restaurant, and Maxwells supermarket. We also went to Man-O-War but did not find it worth the trip.
The Wheelhouse has a terrific location on Eastern Shore. It has water access on both the north and south, with a dock and plenty of parking on the north side. There are two balconies facing the south side. The views and breezes are terrific. The Albury ferry is just down the street but Marsh Harbour and its restaurants are a good mile, or more. Consider a car or taxi. The house is older but clean and has the basics one needs. The upstairs is more conducive to hanging out and has better views. The downstairs really has no common area and has that musty smell typical of places in the tropics that don't get enough sunlight. The owner and manager were very nice but we had a number minor problems, only some of which eventually got resolved.
My husband and I and our 2 dogs rented Wheelhouse for a wonderful week. The house is very comfortable and the views are spectacular. Between the front and back view there is nonstop boat action, from megayachts, sportfish, runabouts, ferries, barges dinghies. We rented a car which ended up being a good move. We drove to Pete's Pub twice for lunch and sightseeing. It is a bit of a walk to most of the reastaurants and picking up groceries would be difficult. Either a taxi cab, rental car or boat would make the getting around simple. The neighborhood is very quiet and very nice for walking. There was a beach on the back side of the house just a short walk away. Calm enough to float on a raft. We enjoyed pizza nite at Snappas; Jaimes has very reasonably priced meals. There are so many restaurants and shops and bars in Marsh Harbor it makes for lots of great choices. We did cook breakfast and some dinners in and the kitchen is very well stocked. The washer dryer was nice; we used it before we left, although most days we were in bathing suits and tank tops, so only had a small load. The owner was very helpful and easy to deal with. Margo the caretaker had the house all ready for us when we arrived. The deck was our favorite spot. We love looking at water and boats and we had a constant parade of boats on the front and backside of the house. The internet worked perfectly and the tv was nice to catch up on the news first thing in the morning. We look forward to returning to Wheelhouse; it has amazing views and is quite comfortable.
