Where to begin! The owners are above and beyond hospitable!! We were overwhelmed with their generosity:) Wonderful to see great people still exist:) The unit is the Perfect Outer Banks Beach Cottage! We should have stayed LONGER! We had so much fun we laughed till we cried!!!! Perfect location, close to everything you could possibly need. We especially enjoy the state parks, historical areas, wildlife viewing and biking trails available just a few steps from our door, not to mention the most beautiful beaches ever! We are already checking our calendar to see when we can return!

Happy Weekend

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was perfect for a ladies weekend away. The house was cozy, clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to work in. It was nice to have an open concept living/kitchen area. For two adults it was very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and having breakfast at the picnic table. The best part of course is the location. It was wonderful to have such easy access to the beach. It is also situated within walking distance of restaurants and other activities. We appreciated the welcome package that Anne put together and how welcoming and helpful both Anne and David were. I plan to stay here again.

Our first visit to the outer banks

  • 3 of 5

The landlord and his wife were there to greet us when we arrived and even left us a gift bag with home made cookies. The cottage was comfortable but the weather was not good. I guess we were a few weeks too early in the season. Not being familiar with the area made it unhandy although they had a good welcome center on the highway before we go into Nags Head that had good maps of the area. I have COPD and I noticed that my breathing was not too good so I went snooping and found mold under both the kitchen and bathroom sinks. I'm sure that mold is a problem at the beach but that was just a FYI for David.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of Hootie and the Blue Fish. I am glad that you alerted us of the mold on the bathtub calk under the valance. It was replaced as soon as we received your note. As for the sink there was a leak that had been repaired and dried out. I sprayed the area with Lysol and thought that had taken care of it. I am sorry that the weather wasn't very good. It seems that the whole east coast had inclement weather. I hope that it was enjoyable having various family visit. Again thanks for your consideration. Anne and David

Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 (3 teenage children) enjoyed our stay. One of the biggest pluses was bringing our dog along with us. The house size was just right. The full kitchen, kitchen table and living room all made time in the house enjoyable for all of us. The quick access to the beach was convenient. The house was clean and in good repair. David was very pleasant to work with and was helpful to get us settled into the house. We would absolutely return here!

A good week

  • 5 of 5

If you check the calendar, you will discover we arrived in the middle of a nor'easter and left just ahead of a hurricane. That made the cottage's location particularly important. We never missed a day on the beach. We always found a break in the weather for a walk or to exercise the dogs. But many of those opportunities would have been missed had we been farther from the beach. Good reading lamps and a simply but well equipped kitchen added to our enjoyment. Our 3 year old grandson wanted to know why we came home; he loved the "cabin." We're wondering the same thing ourselves!
