We were two families of 4 with young adult kids and stayed in the house for 12 nights.
We had a great time in the Dominical area. Many nice beaches, not crowded. We're experienced body-surfers, and we loved the waves. We did hit a bit of jelly-fish on our first day, but it passed afterwards. The whole family (kids 18 and 20) did surfing in Dominicalito and it was great. The waves can be impressive and you have to watch out for currents, but we've seen worst in places in Mexico. The people are generally friendly (better than in San Jose). The cost of living is about the same as in Canada, but of course, we were often getting the tourist price. Many fruit stands, extremely tasty. The area is not too touristy yet - perfect for us.
The house is nice and very spacious. The view is fantastic over the jungle and the ocean. The animals are nearby; we saw white-faced and howler monkeys, as well as various types of insects and birds on the property land, including two types of toucans directly from the pool. There is a nice trail to a waterfall on the property. We took a dip in the water there.
The main problem we had with the house was that one of the main doors could not be locked. Aside from that, a few minor glitches, but nothing important. There's obviously some insects and gekos in and around the house, but it's manageable and to be expected in the wild.
You need a 4x4 to ride around or at least a vehicle high above ground to get to the property.
The Wi-Fi worked fine and the water was good. The pool was fantastic.
We had 2 people with gluten allergies in the group and managed to find stores and restaurants around that had gluten-free products.
All in all, a great adventure which we highly recommend.
We stayed 5 nights at this house and it was absolutely fantastic. The views from the pool are spectacular and there are tons of wildlife, we had our own resident Sloth who stayed in the tree in front of the pool the entire time we were there. I could go on and on but suffice it to say we loved every minute and will definitely be back👍👌🏽👍👍👍
I stayed 4 days with my family at Casa Cielo. Eventhough the house has a nice view and nice pool, the rest of the house was not properly maintained. The furniture was stained, kitchen appliances did not work properly, kitchen sink did not work, bathtub did not have enough water, dining table was damaged and all linens and towels were stained and damaged. The gas grill did not have gas... Downtairs appartment´s windows and doors did not work. Price of the house is not worth because of current maintenance conditions. I would not recommend to visit the house unless it is restored.
We spent 5 nights in the amazing Casa Cielo. To get there, you need a 4-wheel drive vehicle, as it's up (about a mile) relatively rugged terrain; what this actually means, though, is that you feel like you are in a completely secluded place (despite the fact that there are, in fact, other vacation properties around you.) The infinity pool is unbelievable. The home is beautiful. And the serenity is unmatched. You are less than 10 min from Dominicalito's (surfing) beach, and 15(ish) minutes from the adorable town of Dominical. The home's location would you allow you to just escape the world and stay in the entire trip, with a beautiful view and total peace, OR, it can be a great jumping off place to go explore the sights, hikes and beaches of Costa Rica; and it has the best sunsets I've ever, ever seen.
The house is situated a perfect distance from town for just the right amount of privacy and connection to services/fun. Our first morning there we were greeted by white-faced monkeys doing their morning feeding. They trounced through the trees that line the property. Every morning we delighted in watching toucans feed and fly between two nearby trees. We had Marlena, one of the caretakers, cook a wonderful meal for us. We hit the beach and took a tour to Corcovado--a must! This is a great place and great location.
We went in October for a few days with a group and we had the most incredible time. The house is comfortable, gorgeous, modern and has everything necessary for a relaxing and enjoyable time. The views are out of this world as well!
