About Teresa Di Fenza and Donagh O'Brien

We are an Irish couple Donagh & Teresa. We have managed to have got work/lifestyle balance about right whereby we spend approx 6 months of the year enjoying the Puglian lifestyle.

Teresa Di Fenza and Donagh O'Brien purchased this villa in 2005

Why Teresa Di Fenza and Donagh O'Brien chose Bari

Having discovered Alberobello in 2003 we found it very unique and we knew this was the region where we wanted an Italian holiday home. The trullo have many original features including an aia which is a circular area which was used for grinding grain, this has not been incorporated into outside living area where one can relax and enjoy outside dining.

What makes this villa unique

The outside space was the selling point of the property with many original sitting areas and fabulous olive, fruit and nut trees.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a lovely stay at your Trullo – I have been meaning to write to say how much I enjoyed it. Donagh was so helpful with everything and the swimming pool was spotless – the best we have ever had.

All his suggestions for days out were great for us – even satisfying grumpy teenagers!

I would love to come back and visit another time.

Fantastic property - highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

Simply can't recommend Trullo Paradiso enough. The property was exactly what we were looking for and more. It is clean, comfy, charming and huge character to it. The location is great as near enough to Alberobello and shops and restaurants but far enough out for complete quiet and tranquility. The pool is well looked after and perfect for both adults and children and the outside area well equipped with loungers, dining space and BBQ. Teresa and Donagh are perfect hosts as they can't do enough to settle you in and make sure you have all you need but at the same time you hardly know they are there.

Thanks to you both - a lovely relaxing holiday.

We were overwhelmed upon arrival. An absolutely perfect setting for our family holiday.

  • 5 of 5

We were overwhelmed upon arrival. The Trulli is well maintained and has kept many of its original features.

Not overlooked and with the various fruit trees dotted around the grounds adds to the rustic feel of being away from it all. Ample space in and around the property.

The property is located just over 1 kilometre from the main town Alberobello. Literally set just off a local road to the town. So seriously just a few minutes by car to get into the main town. Which you can walk if you desired.

Location is about 30 minutes from the coast by car where there are some great beaches. Also likewise is in easy reach of other towns and places of interest.

The Trulli is surrounded by farmland. So an idyllic spot for those wanting to be not too far from town but just far enough for complete peace and quiet. Just the sound of the breeze blowing through the fruit trees, the odd cricket, birds and local farmers going about their business on their tractors.

The property is well maintained. The rooms have comfortable beds and very quaint inside. Quite unique.

The swimming pool is of a decent size and has been finished off really well. If you have families like ours who enjoy a swim, then having a decent sized pool helps for those pool days, plus those times when you get back from days out and want some time for a dip. Also Teresa and Donagh have chosen the perfect spot for it. From the patio area (which sits on the floor of an old turning mill) right next to the pool you can watch the sun set almost directly over the swimming pool.

As for Teresa and Donagh. They could not do enough for us. They helped out as local tour reps but also with advice on where to park, places to eat etc.

They do live in a separate property adorning the Trulli. The are very hospitable/relaxed people, do leave you to it. They want their guests to get the most out of their stay. In the same way they do not get in the way of your family holiday.

I'd thoroughly recommend this Trulli. We have had many holidays where we have rented properties abroad where there are some things were not quite right and annoy you. All I can say is this property ticks all the boxes we wanted and were not left feeling we could have booked something better. Only regret we have is we didn't book longer than 10 nights.

What more could anyone want??

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a fabulous weeks stay at this Trullo. Spotlessly clean, well equipped and with beds (and pillows) that ensured a great nights sleep. All furnishings and fittings are of good quality and it is obvious that a great deal of thought has gone into providing all the equipment that could be required whilst on holiday here. We really enjoy self catering and never found ourselves short of a vital piece of equipment that so often happens at other properties. However, we are sure that if ever we had found we needed something then Tereza and Donagh would have done their utmost to provide it.

The heated pool was brilliant - lovely and clean, well maintained with easy access down steps to a shallow end and the provision of towels for the pool was a real plus. The garden surrounding the pool was attractive and well kept and we enjoyed abundant amounts of delicious cherries growing there. Several sitting areas were available and all were comfortably furnished.

As well as all this we consider that another real advantage here are the owners, Tereza and Donagh. We so enjoyed their company during our stay as they were able to give us advice on places to visit, places to eat (and places to avoid), where to buy the best wine and where to get the tastiest food. Their sense of humour is very similar to ours and we still laugh at some of the stories Donagh related to us. From our first enquiries Tereza was always quick to reply and the whole booking process was straightforward and uncomplicated. The damage deposit was returned almost immediately once we had given Tereza our details.

We realise that everyone's needs are different and there have been suggestions that there was no privacy. However, Tereza and Donagh are both sympathetic to people's needs and had we not wanted any contact then we are confident that our wishes would have been respected.

Would we visit again? Most definitely - next week if possible. There is so much to do and see in the area. As a retired couple we have travelled widely across Europe and this is one of the best holidays we have had.

Thank you Tereza and Donagh.

Trulli fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in this lovely house. It is very cosy, clean and fully equipped with everything needed, including Wi fi. The pool is spotless and a great size and nice touch having a diving board.

The owners, Teresa and Donagh, stay next door and were always on hand with helpful suggestions on places to visit, good beaches or recommendations for restaurants. There are some really good places to eat nearby!

Would love to come back one day. Thank you, Teresa and Donagh.

beautiful property in a perfect location, lives up to its name

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Trullo Paradiso. The property is enchanting with original features such as exposed stone beams and fireplace. It is comfortable and very clean, and, with teenage children, had the all important wi-fi! The swimming pool is wonderful, set in the grounds, overlooking olive groves, and the shaded area on the terrace is a great place to unwind between dips into the pool. Our hosts, Theresa and Donagh were very friendly, giving us lots of advice on local places to visit and where to eat out, always happy to help and yet not interfering in any way. They kept the garden and pool tidy throughout our stay, and gave us pears and plums picked from their trees. The location is a short drive or a 20-25 minute walk from Alberobello which is famous for its Trulli, though there are lots of other beautiful towns and pretty beaches to visit all within an hour or so. Driving is easy, the roads are good, not too busy, and the drivers don't appear to be anything like as aggressive as in the cities. A week wasn't long enough and we will return to this beautiful place.
