As the childhood home of president Francois Mitterrand, this property has a lot of history and was very dear to president Mitterrands' heart. The beauty of this property begins before you even reach the door, with the road leading up to it being lined with lovely lime trees. With 2 living rooms, both with wood burners, the atmosphere is ideal to sit in the evenings with a book or entertain friends and families. The kitchen with access to the garden, it is perfect for the summer, whilst the large, covered eating and relaxing area in the garden, is perfect for alfresco dining with friends and family. The large, central dining room has a beautiful, tradition Charentais fireplace, whilst the property also boasts 8 large bedrooms, 6 of which have private en-suite bath/shower rooms, whilst the other two share a lovely, large bathroom. This traditional property has eco-friendly solar panels to supply hot water.
The large garden is currently home to a few chickens but is perfect for a large family, whilst a separated walled 30m x 50m garden not only has a 12m x 6m salt pool and plenty of room for children to run around, but boasts supurb views and if the sun gets too much, a large chestnut tree provides plenty of shade. The property as a whole has a very relaxed atmosphere and is more of a family home as opposed to a show home. Just a 5 minute drive away is the lovely village of Aubeterre where you can find a lovely river beach with a cafe, canoeing, a variety of restaurants. A 20 minute walk in the opposite direction you can find a 9 hole golf course. a 20 minute drive will take you to the lovely river beach of St Aulaye, which has a lovely restaurant, take away pizza, play area, plenty of shade if needed and tree climbing. St Aulaye beach holds great memories for us as a family. A short drive away you can fine La Jamaye, a lovely lake perfect for children of all ages, a fitness course and large play area and restaurant
