Newly constructed (2015) Aqua Villa is situated directly on beautiful Unicorn Cay Beach along the prestigious Banks Road, just five minutes from the town of Governor’s Harbour and ten miles from the Governors Harbour airport.
The white Bermuda roof and ocean color façade of this aptly named, 1500 square foot villa immediately draws you in from the secluded parking area below. Curved limestone steps usher you up to Aqua Villa’s entry while you are taken in by the sunset-facing pool, large pool deck and covered porch for private swimming and sunbathing. The 350 square foot covered porch extends from the pool deck to separate wall-to-wall sliding door entrances to the two large adjacent bedrooms. The contemporary bedrooms each have king sized beds and LED flat screen TVs. The master bedroom has an en-suite bath with private commode and shower. The second full bath has a porcelain tub/shower combination for those who enjoy soaking after a day of swimming, snorkeling, exploring, and beach walking.
Both bedrooms open to a vast east-facing great room with sweeping beach and ocean views. Enjoy the view while lounging on the comfortable sofa and leather chairs in the open living area with 55-inch LED flat-screen TV. The sofa converts into an oversize queen with a high quality mattress to accommodate two additional guests. This spacious, airy room has a beautiful tile floor centrally embedded with a compass design. A fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops and state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances are available for those who enjoy cooking up local seafood caught with your spear or line, or bought at the town dock. Enjoy mornings at the breakfast island or dining table for six while you eat and take in the ocean view.
Wall-to wall screened sliders open onto at second large covered porch furnished for dining or relaxing as you enjoy the beach, ocean and lush landscape. Savor a sunrise breakfast and listen to the surf of the Atlantic or prepare a dinner on the outdoor gas grill and relax on a lounge. The enormous mahogany deck overlooking the beach is reminiscent of a ship’s bow from which one can gaze at expansive, unobstructed north/south views along the beach.
Kayaks and beach going equipment are stored under the deck. A short grassy path leads downhill past a fully constructed outdoor shower with bench. Literally steps from Aqua Villa, a pristine pink-sand beach and crystal clear turquoise water await you. Your own thatched palapa provides a shady respite on your sunny beach.
Aqua Villa is fully air conditioned and has its own generator should power be interrupted. A laundry room is equipped with front-loading washer and dryer. Other amenities include high-speed internet with WIFI, cable TV, and a DVD player.
Nearby are Tippy’s restaurant, a 5 minute walk down the beach, the Banks Road Deli and Ocean View Farm for the horse riding lovers. A short drive back into Governor’s Harbour and you have the convenience of banks, ATMs, grocery stores, bakery, liquor stores, gas stations, the Haynes Library, dive shop, gift shops, and medical clinic to satisfy your needs. You can dine at local places like Da Perk, the Buccaneer, French Leave 1648, Sunset Inn, or the Friday Night Fish Fry near Cupid’s Cay. Centrally located, you can easily travel to many of Eleuthera’s famous pristine 100 beaches, such as French Leave, Twin Coves, Ten Bay, or Sky Beach. Travel to the bottomless Ocean Hole, explore the caves, or visit small villages on your way to Lighthouse Beach and its cliffs. Enjoy it all while staying at Aqua Villa, a private enclave on the beach!
The house was perfect for our little family of 3. We had a fantastic time in spite of the chilly weather. The house has a beautiful deck that looks out over a semi private, almost deserted beach. On the other side of the house was the pool. When the wind made it unpleasant to go to the beach, the pool side of the house was delightfully sunny and warm enough to sunbathe. The house itself is in very good condition and had most of the amenities needed for our 10 night stay. The grocery store was not too long of a drive away to gather anything that was not provided. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a peaceful, private villa on the beach.
Aqua Villa is a beautiful house! The beach is great, the water is blue and fun to swim in. I would definitely rent this property again.
Our family of 4 had the pleasure of staying at Aqua Villa, our home base for an 11-day trip to Eleuthera. The Governor's Harbour location of Aqua Villa is perfect - close to Eleuthera Supply (gas, groceries and other essentials), Da Perk, 1648 and Tippy's. The villa was more than ample with respect to size and amenities. The kitchen was well-equipped and allowed us to prepare breakfasts, lunches and a few dinners. Aqua Villa has a backup generator which proved key as we lost local power multiple times during our stay. The house is very energy efficient - we turned off the central A/C during the day while we were exploring and the temperature inside would never rise more than 2-3 degrees even though it was near 90 degrees outside. The deck overlooking the Atlantic is fantastic - we especially enjoyed watching storms over the ocean as well as (given that the water is so clear) sea critters that became our friends during our stay. The beach is steps away from the deck and was our personal paradise throughout the stay. There are good reefs to snorkel within walking distance and, using the two double kayaks, we were able to explore beaches and reefs up and down the coast. Another feature that sets Aqua Villa apart from other homes on this particular stretch of beach is the palapa - it provided a perfect refuge on the rare occassions where we needed a break from the sun. While we would have been very happy staying at Aqua Villa and its beach without ever leaving the villa, we did (and strongly recommend you do too) rent a 4WD vehicle and explored some of the amazing, secluded beaches on the island. Aqua Villa's central location puts virtually the entire island within an hour and a half drive in either direction. Be sure to make a day trip to Lighthouse Beach - you'll remember the beach and possibly the journey to it for the rest of your days. The people on Eleuthera are wonderful - from Hewitt (the caretaker, handyman, all-around-great-guy) to complete strangers that hitched a ride with us, everyone was super-friendly and also helpful in answering our first-timer questions. Planning and booking the trip was also a breeze, made even easier by Matt, Pam and Eleuthera Vacation Rentals - I highly recommend them. Aqua Villa's owner is also a pleasure to work with and so fortunate to own such a beautiful home. Bottom line: if you've researched Eleuthera and determined it's for you (it's not for everyone, you know) book Aqua Villa now. You will love it.
We spent 11 days in this home and it was everything we dreamed of. Total Peace & quiet. We has a mile of pink sand beach and saw 4 people in 11 days. Pam, the agent was easy to work with and we wanted to bring Hewitt who built and maintained the home, home with us. The pictures barely do justice to the setting as it was everything we wanted. We met local fishermen who sold FRESH fish on the docks from their cars. I recommend flying in North Eluthera where real jets land and shopping at the grocery store in Rock Island. Governor's Harbour airport is closer but the plane must be 65 years old. I appeared well maintained mechanically a real modern jet is more desirable. The two are far apart but on island time you have all day. The ATMs provide cash without problem but remember to take your passport when you go to the bank to change money back before you leave. Expect everything to cost 2X to 3X compared to the states. gas was 4.50 per gallon at a time when it was 2.00 in the states. The grocery stores are few and far between and very limited. The owner did an excellent job of providing everything you need and everything was top class. We are ready to move except for leaving family and may still buy. There are limited restaurants as it is a very poor island but the ones that are there are first class.
If you want to get away in a beautiful this is the place. There is no night life on the main island but that is why we went there
Our stay at Aqua Villa was absolutely fantastic. The property is beautifully landscaped and gives a great first impression. Lush trees along the property line provide plenty of privacy from the road and neighboring properties. The pool area, which is to the left when you walk up the steps from the driveway, gets sun all day so the water temperature is always perfect (the heater is an added bonus for night time swimming after dinner). The pool deck is large and has plenty of lounge chairs for guests. The most amazing part is how cool the stone around the pool stays despite being in the sun all day. When you've had enough of the sun, you can move to the comfortable lounge chairs on the covered porch overlooking the pool and cool off while enjoying the beautiful Bahamian weather.
As you walk up those same steps and approach the entry of the home, you catch your first glimpse of the fantastic ocean view behind the tree line. The entrance opens into a fully furnished open living, kitchen and dining area provides plenty of seating for the whole family plus a large group of friends. The kitchen has more counter and cabinet space than you could ever need while on vacation and comes completely furnished with pots, pans and utensils. The full size refrigerator gives you plenty of space to store your catch of the day (the fishing on the island is top notch too). To your left are the two large bedrooms, also fully furnished with some of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on during a vacation. To the right is the star of the show.
Tall sliding glass doors running along the entire rear wall of the house give you a panoramic view of the ocean. As soon as you open the doors and step onto the deck you're greeted by a cool ocean breeze and the sound of crashing waves. The comfortable lounge chairs were my favorite place for an afternoon nap. A set of stairs leads to a small deck area with an outdoor shower, and beyond that, the beach. The beach is as private as private gets. We saw only 4 other people on the beach during the entire trip, and they were about a half mile away from our area. There is also a small tiki shelter to provides shade when needed. The water in this area is incredibly clear and great for snorkeling.
My stay at Aqua Villa was amazing and I can't recommend it enough. It was definitely hard to get on the plane to head home. Thank you to the owner for sharing their home with us!
The island is amazing with miles and miles of perfect white (or pink) sand beaches and barely anyone on them. The beach outside this property is a perfect example ! So special to have the beach at the end of the garden for early morning and evening dips and the outdoor shower is brilliant for washing off the sand on the way back up to the house.
The house itself is brand new and beautifully fitted out with great appliances, lots of cooking equipment and utensils and a bbq. Lots of towels for bath and beach, beach mats, beach umbrella, cool bags/box - everything you need to enjoy the incredible beaches on the island. The house is actually better than the pictures make it look !
Location is great ie middle of the island - we travelled down to Lighthouse beach on the southern tip and also went to Harbour Island for the day , both perfectly possible day trips. Also nice to be close to Governors Harbour for breakfast at Da Perk, lunch at French Leave or Tippy's.
It was very windy for the first half of our week which meant the beach terrace was difficult for us to enjoy but the pool area was totally sheltered and perfect to relax by after a tough day exploring the beaches. By the end of the week, the wind had dropped and the beach side terrace was incredible !
The owner and property manager were also incredibly helpful and easy to deal with.
This was our first beach holiday with our 8 month old baby - and the ease of the house and the beautiful location made it a resounding success !
One note would be that there isn't currently any wire or fencing under the handrail of the beach terrace. Not a problem for us as our daughter is yet to properly move, but would be quite tricky with a mobile young child.
We look forward to visiting Eleuthera again and hopefully Aqua Villa.
