Seaside House Rental Photos and Description

Clean, Best little Cottage, 528 Sq. Ft. of Fun, 2 Bdrms, Hot Tub, 1blk to Ocean

HISTORIC BIRDIE'S Cottage:

Perfect for up to three guests.

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom.

New outdoor Therapeutic Spa!

We are a no pets/ no smoking vacation home.

BIRDIE'S COTTAGE: A UNIQUE BEACH HOME: Immaculate! Cozy and Charming! Top-notch quality amenities! Filled with amazing antiques, vintage souvenirs and collectibles! This unique, historic (over 100 years old) home and landscaped yard have been beautifully maintained for 40 years by owners, Ron and Kay Slusarenko, a Portland Architect and Portland Artist.

IDEAL LOCATION: On a quiet street and one block to the beach! Close to everything!

So easy to walk to the river, to the ocean; to walk to the shopping outlet or to the downtown shops. So easy to walk to the Entertainment Center, to the Aquarium, and to the dozens of restaurants serving everything from freshly caught seafood to handmade pizzas.

Hop in the car and within 15-18 minutes (with scenic views) you are in Cannon Beach, or in the opposite direction, Astoria with all its beautiful Victorian architecture. And in-between are state parks, hiking, biking and walking trails with breathtaking views of the ocean.

THE COTTAGE: In the living room, the high gloss painted wood walls make this space light and airy. Comfortable furniture is a must. A secret door holds snow domes on glass shelves, collected abroad and around the USA. Everywhere you look are special collections, original artwork, and one of a kind vintage souvenirs.

The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances (including a gas stove, a dishwasher, a coffeemaker and a microwave) located next to charming collections from the 1940s and 1950s.

The compact bathroom has all the requirements; a toilet, a sink, mirror, and a sparkling clean shower with glass front doors. The space is stocked with lovely towel sets, shampoo, hand soaps, hair dryer, rolls of toilet paper, facial wipes and kleenex.

In the Twin Bedroom there is a reading library for adults and children. And if anyone wants to see a children's movie just open the bottom dresser drawer. You'll be able to select from over a dozen of the best Disney's films ever made. Lots of games and board games in this bedroom.

The Double Bed Bedroom has a comfy bed surrounded by paint-by-numbers hung on the wall. The bench in this bedroom has 2 purposes, one to allow guests to sit on it and two, to open up the bench seat and select one of over 200 DVDs and VHS movies! There are even more movies under the bench.

OUTDOORS: There is a two-seat Hot Tub (made in Oregon) for your enjoyment. This charming Spa is noted for providing therapeutic benefits; from physical to emotional stress relief, alleviating muscle pain to relieve arthritis and sore joints.

There is a pretty trellis with lights to turn on in the evenings, a gas BBQ (during the summer months), picnic table and outdoor furniture for everyone to enjoy both day and night. And the tree swing is always a favorite of young and old alike!

Birdie's Cottage is a destination for couples, those wishing to reconnect with friends, a get-away-from-the-city rejuvenator for the weekend, and a perfect environment to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary or a honeymoon.

We can't wait for you to visit!

About Kay Slusarenko

We are a Portland Architect and a Portland Artist who have owned Birdie's Cottage and Scout's Cottage since 1976. The two homes were built in the early 1900s and were part of a motor court with drive-in units. Sadly, a fire erupted one night and all but the main house and the laundry/fish cleaning unit were destroyed.

We rescued these two buildings from being demolished and in the summer of 1976 we, along with our three young sons, started working to restore them. We focused on honoring their past and adding modern conveniences to make our guests feel welcomed and comfortable.

Kay Slusarenko purchased this house in 1976

We loved our stay! The cottage is adorable and well

Stocked with all the dishes etc you could need. The weather was a bit blustery but the spa was a perfect place to sit in warmth and watch the storm!! We will be back for certain and I highly recommend!!

Cozy

  • 5 of 5

Seaside is gorgeous and Birdie's cottage is a 2 minute walk to the beach. There are comfortable chairs, books and vintage games galore. If you like cozy and comfy this cottage is perfect. If you like sleek and modern or if you are of large stature or don't do well in small spaces, then this is not the right rental for you. Everything was meticulously clean and welcoming. I did not use the hot tub but it was up and running. Kay's instructions and hints are very thorough- she has thought of everything. The downtown area is an easy walk up the beach and has plenty to offer even in October. I highly recommend getting to Ecola state park- take the hiking trail! The views are stunning! Seaside is a Great getaway destination and Birdie's cottage is welcoming and cozy!

Lovely little cottage in great, quiet location!

  • 4 of 5

Kay Slusarenko is an awesome property owner! She took the time to understand our needs before we arrived, provided a wealth of information on things to do, her personal favorite places to eat, and suggested things to see. The cottage is a very quaint 1900's cottage that has been updated. I really enjoyed studying all the collections (snow globes, wood plaques, book of postcards, etc...) My children loved the swing and hot tub! The walk to the beach is very short and easy. I would recommend this property to those who are seeking a lovely little cottage experience by the sea.

So sweet and small.

  • 5 of 5

We loved it here. Never to far apart from each other, so cute and small. Do not stay here if you are tall or a little fluffy.lol. Had to use 1 room as a closet. Darling backyard with hot tub. However the neighbor, on the other side of the fence had a spot light directed on the tub from his back porch. Hopefully not on your stay though. Besides the annoying spot light lovely stay.

Everything you need

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very cozy and had everything we needed for our stay. We cooked dinner one night and breakfasts daily without any problems. The hot tub was nice to relax in after a long day of hiking. Easy walk to beach. Loved the postcard book!

Fun place!

Thank you.

Owner's Response: It was so nice to have you as our guests. I'm still working on creating a Seaside postcard book. I am excited to share our collection of about 1000 souvenir photo postcards that show what Seaside, Oregon looked like in 1907 up to the mid-50s; the clothes, the cars and especially the ocean scenes and how the city of Seaside has grown and changed over the past 100 years. I hope to have it finished by the summer of next year! Kay

A beautiful property that transported us back to a simpler and naive period in our nation's history.

  • 5 of 5

The pictures on the site do not do this property justice. We were in awe of the character of Birdie's Cottage from the moment we walked in the door. Before unloading we had to take a moment to explore the property and admire the decorations. The amount of detail and love in the house was evident and appreciated. Unlike a hotel or condo, this felt like home. That allowed us to fall completely on to "Seaside" time. We slept in and really had no schedule. This was our first family vacation and first long road trip for our 3 year old son. He loved his room and had fun looking for toys and books to read. We were concerned that he wouldn't sleep well in a new environment but he dozed away. And we loved our bed! It was like sleeping on a cloud. No embellishment here. Our SUV was packed to the gills so there was no way we could have fit it in our car when we left. Our first morning home we both agreed that we missed the bed in Birdie's Cottage. Another aspect that truly impressed us was how stocked the kitchen was with everyday items. We brought our own food and easily prepared our meals as if at home. Spices, cookware, plastic wrap, coffee (!), tea, sweetener, sugar, etc. And how about the milkshake machine! That was one amenity we wished we would have gotten around to. The spa was absolutely perfect. The third day of our visit was our anniversary. After a wonderful day at the beach and walk on the Prom, we put our son to bed and hopped in the spa. We were oblivious to the world and enjoyed the serenity. The grill. I have to comment on the grill. We brought some steaks and were eager to try out the grill. It was clean and heated up nicely. Beautiful grill marks! I almost forgot to mention the yearbooks that stocked the magazine rack. I thoroughly enjoyed leafing through 1961, 1963 and 1964 editions of the Seaside Union High School annuals. I became emotionally attached to the high school drama of Mike and Teresa. I was left wondering how life treated them. We were so close to the beach and North Prom that daily walks were a must. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. It almost seemed like a retreat from the hustle and bustle of tourists. Coming "home" from a day of adventure was a comforting sensation. We absolutely loved this place and recommend it to first-time visitors to Seaside and even veteran visitors. Try it out. You won't be disappointed. The Garcias - 09/08/2016 to 09/12/2016
