Overview

About the property

Farmhouse, 3 bedrooms plus 1 sleeping area, 2 bathrooms, orchard and forest view

The Hampton Hideaway provides an unmatched serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city. This was the home of Wilmer Hampton, founder of Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort and is nestled in a valley of 20 acres of cherry orchards and 600 acres of forest. We have an active cherry orchard, so please consider any sensitivities or allergies you might have when planning your stay. As a courtesy to guests with allergies, we do not allow pets or smoking in our home. There may be barn cats on the property during your stay, and we kindly ask that you not allow them inside or feed them anywhere near the home. The Hideaway is located about 6 miles (15 minutes) from the Hampton Lodge at Mission Ridge and about 15 minutes from downtown Wenatchee. Close enough to enjoy the town and far enough to have the out in the country feel.

Enjoy walking through the forest along an old logging road or make your own trail. Climb a hill for a great view of the sunrise. Glide down our sledding hill for some wintertime fun. Taste a few sweet cherries during our July harvest. Find a quiet spot for a picnic. Gaze upon the deer feeding in the early morning or listen to the owls hooting at night. Enjoy the view of a star-filled sky while relaxing in your private hot tub.

The Hampton Hideaway is furnished with 3 queen beds in separate rooms and 3 twin beds in one room, cotton linens and down blankets. The kitchen is fully equipped with service for 9. A comfortable living room has large screen TV, DVD/ Blu-ray player and complimentary Netflix and wireless internet service.

The 1940’s Hampton Hideaway barn is now available as an event venue. See our web site or HamptonHideaway Facebook page for more information. The barn and our vacation rentals make a great country wedding package. Renting the Hideaway with the Hampton Homestead (VRBO.com/653723) allows a group of 15 to stay close together.

Whether you are planning a family vacation, a quick weekend getaway or are visiting for business, the Wenatchee Valley has an adventure for you. With four distinct seasons, 300 sunshine-filled days a year, a river running through town and mountains so close you can touch them, your stay in Wenatchee Valley will be memorable.

Greg and JoAnn look forward to welcoming you to their home.

About JoAnn Hampton

Greg Hampton was born and raised in Wenatchee. His dad, Wilmer, founded Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort. Greg is an avid skier and was a ski jumper as a kid. He and JoAnn met while serving as Air Force officers at a US base in England. They were married in her home town in New Jersey. After their active duty tours were over, they settled on the family homestead in the Squilchuck area of Wenatchee.

Greg manages the family orchard and teaches mathematics at the community college. JoAnn is a home health physical therapist. They have four children, two son-in-laws, and four grandchildren.

JoAnn Hampton purchased this guest house in 1943

Why JoAnn Hampton chose Central Cascade Mountains

This property has been in the Hampton family for over 100 years. The original homestead was built in the early 1900's. The Hideaway was built by second generation Hamptons in the 1940's, with the most recent remodel in 2011. Greg and JoAnn are 3rd generation Hamptons and built their home on the hill over looking the orchards.

What makes this guest house unique

Before Greg and JoAnn moved back to Wenatchee, they would visit his Mom who lived in what we now call the Hampton Hideaway. It was always a pleasure to watch the sunrise from the living room. Our children loved having cinnamon toast with Grammie Hampton while the sun came up.

Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Seven Professional Ski Instructors of America from around the Northwest made the Hampton Hideway our relaxing retreat for 3 evenings after skiing the slopes of Mission Ridge for our NW Technical Team Tryouts. We were greeted in the evening by Wild Turkeys that would "talk" to us and an adorable kitty seeking loves finally warmed up to us. The location was perfect for early morning and evening walks with beautiful views of the surrounding area. The home was spotless and comfortable; the hot tub was sparkling and an amazing place to soak our muscles under the stars with a sliver moon "sitting" on the ridge above the hideaway. It was also GREAT to have a few more of our friends staying just down the pasture from us so that we could enjoy a glass of wine and our stories from the slopes. Looking forward to future PSIA events at Mission Ridge and returning to the Hampton Hideaway!

Owner's Response: Jennifer, We are thrilled that you found our place amazing. We love the wild turkeys that have called our valley home for several years. Glad you enjoyed the view while walking on our property. Greg cleans the hot tub between guests, so it is always sparkling! Thanks for noticing. Looking forward to having you come again. Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time at Hampton Hideaway. The house was spacious, and yet cozy. The beds were comfortable and the hot tub was nice. It was great that the Blu-ray player had access to Netflix, and there were several games to keep us entertained (including an air hockey table). The kitchen was well stocked with everything we could possibly need (except food of course). The private, beautiful location was incredibly peaceful. I may just have to book again in the future.

This is my second time staying at this property. It is the perfect place for couples, families or someone on business travel to call home while visiting the Wenatchee area. Hiking trails are abundant and the 360 views of mountains and orchards is stunning! I can't wait for my next trip back!

The PERFECT, private location for a large family or multi-family stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with a couple other families for a weekend of softball. The house is furnished with everything you could need or desire, the furnishings are nice and comfortable, the house is clean, and the Joanna, the owner, is a gem. This house is at the end of a long road, private and in a serene location. We had 9 people in the house, and everyone only had good things to say about their stay. Thank you Joanna for your hospitality and opening your wonderful home.
