Lourmarin Villa Rental Photos and Description

Oasis of calm with fabulous pool and extensive terraces - sleeps 12

Only ten minutes walk from the centre of Lourmarin, this lovely vine-covered villa offers total tranquility in its one and a half acres of beautiful garden, kept permanently green by its own artesian well. In winter, you may choose to relax in the spacious sitting room in front of the huge romantic log fire, but summer will probably find you eating, reading, or just soaking up the sun around the 12m pool or on the sweeping stone terraces that surround the house. Completely refurbished four years ago, it can accommodate up to 12 people in six bedrooms: two are on the ground floor with French window access into the terraces making them perfect for older people or those with mobility problems and two are in a self-contained lower ground floor, ideal for teenagers or those who want to get away from their fellow guests. There is a large fully-equipped summer house complete with American fridge and ice-making machine, BBQ and its own shower and toilet. All towels and linen are provided.

A blissful gem in a beautiful town

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful and tranquil villa for three days recently during the French summer. The house was spotless, spacious and comfortable with multiple living, cooking and sleeping areas. The pool is very generous in size and can comfortably fit several people at once. The garden is very picturesque and beautifully groomed. We loved sitting by the pool, reading a book in the garden, and chatting with our friends by the outdoor dining table under the big tree. This is the perfect house to escape the summer heat in France. It was clear the owners took great pride and love in caring for the property. The house instructions were well put together and covered all topics you can think of. We felt like we were in our own home. The house is conveniently located in the town of Lourmarin, which can be easily reached on foot, especially if you enjoy a morning walk to the local bakery for fresh bread and pastries. There are also various restaurant options nearby, including a fine dining restaurant that is walking distance away. The town itself if also lovely and definitely worth a visit, including the chateau (check out summer concerts). There are many restaurants and shops in the town and it really comes to life in the evening. If you are looking for a peaceful place to relax and unwind with your family or friends in a quiet but still easily accessible location then this villa is the perfect place for your holiday getaway.

The perfect place in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We spent the most wonderful week in this beautiful home. It was not like a holiday let, it was just like being invited to a friends home. There was every creature comfort you could wish for. The pool house had its own shower and toilet and an enormous fridge so you did not have to use the main house whilst sunbathing. Great restaurant recommendations by the owner, and the house is perfectly situated to walk into the charming village of Lourmarin. It was a sad day when we left, but we will most definitely return. Thank you for a truly memorable holiday.

A great trip

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a very happy week at La Laure. Our party of 8 comprised 6 pensioners (one with limited mobility) and two from the younger generation. The house was beautifully prepared and the house manager and cleaners, not to mention the owner, could not have been more helpful. We loved eating on the terrace, and lounging in or around the fine pool. It is a stunning area and our best excursions were to La Fontaine de Vaucluse, and to the French Colorado. Altogether a lovely house and a great trip.

PROVENCAL BLISS

  • 5 of 5

My family spent two hugely enjoyable weeks at La Laure. It's position - just a 10 - 15 minute walk to the lovely village of Lourmarin was perfect. The house contains everything one would need. The elegant lounge is large, impressive and comfortable. There is a large TV with numerous sky channels for those who like to keep in touch with home and a large collection of CD's and interesting books. The interior of the house is always pleasantly cool, even when the temperature is in the 30's. The pool is very well maintained and a joy to use.

The glorious large verdant garden surrounds the house and contains numerous specimen trees, roses and other shrubs all set off beautifully by a large sweeping lawn and stone terracing. We loved the house, we loved the Luberon and we loved Lourmarin. Numerous beers at Café Gaby, the Lourmarin Friday market, a visit to the wonderful vineyard at Val Johanis near Pertuis followed by a wonderful lunch in the very pretty village of Ansouis, visits to the perched villages, evening meals in Lourmarin, meals on the terrace at the house - I could go on !! A wonderful area, a wonderful holiday and such a wonderful house to spend two glorious weeks at.

Map

Car: recommended

Lourmarin, acclaimed as one of the prettiest villages in France, is a unique mixture of sophistication and unspoiled Provencal charm. The art galleries, craft shops and the famous Friday market attract visitors from miles around as does the celebrated 16thc chateau where concerts and other cultural events are held regularly through the summer months. The area is famous for the number and variety of its restaurants which range from simple bistros, ideal for family meals, to some of the most renowned exponents of gastronomy in the South of France. More energetic visitors will enjoy cycling trips or walks throughout the Luberon hills and some of the other villages in the area – Merindol, Gordes, Bonnieux, to name but a few, are bound to be on your must-visit list because of their historical connections or breathtaking natural beauty. One thing is for certain: you will not be bored.

This also has its own shower room and separate WC.
