About Owner/Manager

We love Maui for all it has to offer, but mainly for the waves and wind! We're a family of passionate windsurfer, Kitesurfer, stand up paddler, surfer and horseback riders.

Owner/Manager purchased this studio in 2011

Why Owner/Manager chose Maui

Kuau is to us the best location possible on Maui, it is close to everything, (beach, restaurant, shops) it has a perfect weather all year long, it is very friendly and quite.

What makes this studio unique

the unique benefits of our property is that you can just walk to the ocean, while you're so close to Hookipa beach park and Paia on the same time. You can hear the surf breaking from the yard in the winter time.

We were looking for some quiet and convenient accomodation for our 1 week stay in Maui.

We were delighted to find this accomodation, tastefully decorated, and very practical. Nothing is missing in the studio and you feel at home after a few minutes only. The terrace, the garden and the outdoor shower (warm water!!) add a lot of charm to the place. Definitely the perfect retreat for a couple visiting Maui.

What's not to love!?

  • 5 of 5

You could not ask for much more in a sweet, chill studio for 1 or 2, especially with a "forested" back deck with morning shade or sun, and a most excellent outdoor shower (complete with gecko shower buddies). With a beach three minutes' walk away, Kuau shop a minute's walk away (best lattes we had on the island), a kitchen set-up for coffee, breaky or dinners, and Paia or Makawao a short drive away for meals out, it's a great spot. And a nice family running it. If you've got gear, there's enclosed space for that too. On the list of keepers for a return visit!

cute, cozy, and clean!

  • 5 of 5

During our stay, a tropical storm hit with intense rain. This made for some hot and humid conditions. This spot was cozy, had a ceiling fan above the bed, and a nice windowed lanai door, which made it feel private, and semi-outside. It could probably use another fan during tropical storm conditions, but we didn't feel a need to ask for it - i'm sure the owners would have obliged. There are some mosquitoes, so keep the screen pulled shut, but they're not bad. (Last year when we stayed in Haiku and closer in the jungle, I was eaten alive! This was a totally different and better experience!) The place is really clean and minimalistic with a big closet to store and organize our things, which we really appreciated. The hosts are really responsive if you contact them, which was great. The cleaning person forgot to leave bath towels (they were in the dryer) and TP, minor things, but this was taken care of right away. They also let us check in an hour earlier to get our perishable groceries into the fridge which was really nice and super appreciated. I have reactive asthma and rashes to fragrances in laundry detergent/dryer sheets and they use unscented detergent - the owner even did a double rinse of the linens in case there was any issue. This was really appreciated. You have everything you need in the unit. Internet connectivity was good, even with all the rain. It was a 5 minute drive to Paia and just behind the Kuau store - so the location was awesome. Parking is a cinch and there is plenty of it whether you rent a Dodge Caravan or a compact car (we had a compact). It is a shared parking space, you just want to be comfortable maneuvering your vehicle around. There is a covered garage area where you can store things such as boards, etc if needed, which is great (though we only used it for our shoes). It's a private spot, though right next door to the owners and the other places for rent that they own. You'll hear others, so it has a semi-communal feel, but really private. We only ran into folks once, heard folks every day, but we felt as though it was really private, but friendly and if we wanted more interaction, we could have made it happen. My absolute favorite thing about the spot? The outdoor shower. For the outdoor shower alone, I'd come back and stay every time I'm in Paia! The lanai and outdoor shower were the definite highlights of the place. We didn't do much cooking due to the heat/humidity and instead ate a lot of Mana salads.

Perfect studio in great location with lovely owners

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely 2-night stay here. It's a perfect location in a quiet, cool neighborhood. My favorite parts were listening to the ocean from bed and the outdoor shower :)

Super cute studio

  • 4 of 5

The place was a little hard to find, but instructions were clear.

It was super cute inside. Large closet, clean washroom and an cute outdoor shower. Had a backyard patio and the kitchen was equipped with everything you needed. I only wished I met the owners or had some sort of introduction because I felt like I wasn't welcomed or intruding.

There wasn't instructions for check-out. I just left the key in the door upon leaving.

Owner's Response: Hi Nina, thanks a lot for your great review and glad you had a good time. Sorry that we didn't get to meet each other, it just seemed like we were never in rhythm to meet as both times I tried to come say hi, you were out... We would have definitely like to meet you too. Aloha
