charming and peaceful, the only thing I would have changed would have been to have ceiling fans on the front porch.

Owner's Response: We appreciate your review and hope that you will return when you make another trip thru Natchez. It makes me tired just thinking of all the driving that you did on this past trip. I liked your idea for ceiling fans also....this past summer has been a killer but we are expecting cooler weather later this week. Enjoyed meeting you all and hope to see you again soon.

wonderful place for a quiet getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The home was clean and very comfortable. Decorated beautifully! Britton is a wonderful person to work with when booking. She had a ton of info for us about Natchez. And left us the most wonderful homemade treats! And on arrival she had made us a pitcher of lemonade that was cold in the fridge.

Would definitely recommend!

Owner's Response: Lisa, thank you so much for your sweet note as well as the nice review. I am so glad that you all enjoyed your stay and I will share the cake recipe with you when you all return. It is easy! I think one reason we get a lot of girl groups is they feel safe and secure down here at the end of the drive and they are close to all of the activities. Enjoyed meeting you all and keep us on your list. You are welcome back at the Coop whenever you all can slip off out of town again.

The Place to Stay in Natchez

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to the Chicken Coop and it was every bit as delightful as the first. The house was immaculately clean, comfortable, and handsomely decorated and there was an abundance of cookies and lemonade. Although the house sits at the end of a cul-de-sac with abundant greenery all around, giving it a rural feel, it is just a few blocks from historic downtown Natchez. Britton and Jimmy are the perfect hosts. We didn’t even consider staying anywhere else on our return trip to Natchez.

Owner's Response: Thank you both for the nice review. I love having repeat customers and you two seem to enjoy life so much. I think I would enjoy seeing the country your way but I might have to take our two little house dogs with us! Will see you next trip and appreciate your leaving the Coop so neat!

Our stay at The Chicken Coop could not have been more perfect, unless we had had a few more days to stay :)

The home was so comfortable, clean, and cutely decorated and the Gammills were such welcoming hosts. They checked on us enough that

we felt cared for but left us alone enough that we didn't feel smothered. They were great help with eating recommendations, info about the area, and just

delightful people to talk to. It was well appointed with coffee, homemade treats, any toiletries we might have forgotten, comfortable beds, reading material about the area, and it was clean enough to eat off the floors. My only concern about writing this review is that when we are able to go back, we won't be able to get a reservation because so many others will discover it!

Thanks ever so much to Britton and Jimmy!

Owner's Response: We appreciate your lovely review more than you know and having nice guests like your family is a pleasure for us. Want you to know that we looked for you all at the "low water crossing" and were glad to see that you all were not in the creek! You know you are welcome back at the Coop at any time....Natchez just got named the number 5 best southern town in the country to visit which is always good to learn! Hope your parents enjoyed the Swamp Tour....that is something that I always wanted to do! Stay in touch and I hope we have the pleasure of your company again. When you get tired of nursing, I might make you my advertising manager! Our best to your family also!

Nice, Nice, Nice!

  • 5 of 5

After spending five nights in the "Coop" I must say that it is one of the best VRBO places we have ever stayed and we have done a lot of them. The place was spotless when we arrived. Some very tasty homemade treats were also waiting for us upon arrival. The setting is absolutely gorgeous and the interior is super comfortable and well laid out. Plenty of room inside as well as a really nice deck and front porch to enjoy the outdoors. Easy walking distance to many fine restaurants and all the beautiful 19th century homes and historical sites. The hosts, Britton and Jimmy, were the absolute best. Next trip to Natchez my wife and I will definitely stay here.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the lovely review. I do all of the cleaning myself at the rental house and I am a neat freak so I appreciate it when renters realize the Coop is orderly and clean. So glad that you all had a good time in Natchez and know you are always welcome back at our place. Natchez is really a beautiful, laidback little town and we are thankful to have the tourists come here as our economy is very dependent on tourism. We have had such nice tourists visit and you all among the best. Keep us on your list and we would love to have you return.....we love repeat renters and I will make your wife another cake! Thank you, again.

Even Nicer Than the Photos

  • 5 of 5

Comfort, charm, and convenience - the Chicken Coop was one of our favorite vacation rentals ever. We appreciated the many decorator touches, copious outdoor space, and peaceful surroundings, not to mention how simple it was to get downtown for restaurants and Pilgrimage sites. Everything we needed was provided, fixtures and appliances all worked, and parking was easy. We needed both the heat and the AC during our stay, and the thermostat was easy to use and fast-acting (not a given in some rentals). The hosts were very welcoming and helpful, and the booking process was smooth and efficient. All we had to do was relax and enjoy!
